Any zoom lens of this extreme (18-200mm), is never going to achieve perfection, that is the nature of the beast, regardless of who makes it, if you expect to get 100% perfection across the full range then forget about considering this lens, but if that reasonable and acceptable images are all that matter to you, then you can't fail to be impressed with this lens, admittedly, at 200mm at f8 the images are slightly soft, but not so soft that Photoshop or such like will not rectify. The whole point of "superzooms" such as this is to give as wide a range of focal lengths whilst retaining a reasonable quality photo, this lens achieves that perfectly and is ideally suited for travelling. The auto focus I have had no issues with to date, and the image stabiliser works very well. Considering what a Nikon equivelent lens costs compared to this I would recommend it 100%.UPDATE: I took this to the BBC Countryfile Live at Blenheim Palace yesterday, mounted on my trusty old Nikon D70. I was absolutely shocked at how well this lens has performed. The images are as sharp as those that I took a few weeks ago at an airshow on a Nikon D90 with the Nikon 55-200 VR lens, and the colour rendition seems better. The two images attached were taken at 18mm f8 and 200mm@ f10.Unless you are a camera snob who is more concerned about the brand name on equipment, this little lens is well worth considering.

I needed a single lens after a visit to Venice last year. I had to keep changing lenses to get the best pictures in the city. I like wildlife , people and architecture. The Tamron 18-200mm lens fitted the bill for most of my pictures and without changing lenses. Each time you change a lens, there is a chance of getting dirt/pollen onto the CMOS sensor. There is nothing worse than having a beautiful picture with speckles on it, especially if the picture is enlarged.Ok. The lens is cheap compared to an original Canon one but pound for pound I have found this lens to perform as expected. Suitable for amateur or semi-pro photographer. I have taken some great pictures recently.

Can’t fault the lens, a bit heavy on my M50 I do have the non VC one and thought I’d upgrade to this one but unfortunely had to return this lens I bought. As when I tried to sign up for the 5 year warrenty and contacting Tamron I found out the one I was sent from Amazon was a grey market it one and doesn’t have warranty with it as Tamron is very strict on that rule and said to send it back. It is a lot better lense than my kit ones on my M50 and love having just one zoom lense when travelling or days out and saves time swapping lenses. Great image quality and value for money.

Budget lens which performs much better than expected. Purchased to replace an ageing Canon zoom for my wife. Tested at first on Canon EOS350D and got all kinds of intermittent weird problems. Sometimes it worked properly and other times it didn't. Initially I thought it was a bad product but then tested it on a Canon EOS450D and it worked perfectly. It seems it doesn't work on the very old models. But for more (slightly) newer cameras it is very good value for money. I must admit I wasn;t expecting it to be as good as it turned out to be.

this lens is perfect for aps-c cameras which I have being the canon eos750d,I was looking for a medium zoom lens as I only had the 18-55mmkit which was a good lens but was limited with the short range so I lookedfor a lens with the zoom range I wanted and came up with this tamronwhich is perfect, it,s light and compact and the auto focus is fast andaccurate and it,s got image stability which helps, overall I think it is abrilliant lens at a very good price and for any one who does not want topay the canon prices.

Had been looking for a travel lens and was lucky enough to have the canon version on loan for a 10 day holiday on returning I decided to order the tamron instead as it was a third of the price.surprisingly the image quality difference is barely noticeable and although the build quality does not match the canon 18-200 lens it still feels a sturdy enough piece of kit.lens hood included as standard and auto focus is good.great lens if your on a budget.

Good all round lens but won't take the place of a 17-70/18-85 for most subjects. On the other hand, the 200mm zoom means that you can get away with only carrying the one lens if you're travelling light. Only really marked it down because it's not so good when the light goes down unless you've got the tripod handy and a subject that isn't moving; and because it's a plastic fitting rather than metal (so more likely to break if dropped).

Bought this lens to replace a broken one 18mm - 55mm. Is a better replacement than a direct replacement as when we go on holiday I have in the past also taken a 55 - 300mm lens now with this I will in most cases only need to take the one lens. Looks good on the camera, auto focus and zoom work really well producing sharp blur free pictures at both ends of the focal length.

Having been looking for an additional lens for my Nikon, I think this is a great all-rounder. It’s light weight, the VC seems to work perfectly as too does the auto focus. Great value for money. I’m an amateur and wasn’t looking to spend a fortune or nearly three times the cost on the Nikon one so top marks for this great lens. Really pleased with this purchase.

This lens is a great all-rounder! Best used in light situations and outside! With a very good zoom range! Not the sharpest of images if you are a pixel peeper! Focus can be a bit hit and miss I found! But Good build quality. I would definitely buy another tamron lens in the future! This is used on my Canon eos 100D. I am Very happy with my purchase!

To be honest I haven't used this lens in anger yet, but I have tried taking a few pictures with it and I have noticed compared to the older Tamron 18-200mm it is a lot quieter and seems to focus better in lower light, which the older one did struggle at times. I am looking forward to using this with my new Cannon 700D, compared to my 1000D

For the price this seems excellent and fits the bill of what I wanted of a lens with wide zoom range. Although specialist reviews criticise the performance at extreme settings, the results look good for my needs of general photography and the saving of not having to carry more than one lens around.

Awesome lens paired it with a nikon d5300 as a work setup for photographing outdoor sports works perfectly. Doesn't claim to be weather sealed but I have got it wet in a canyon more than once and it just keeps going. Great picture quality as well. My clients have been very happy with their shots

Pleased I bought it, it saves carrying around lots of lenses, the purist don't like them with the camera expert snobbery, (it's b/s by the way) point the camera take the shot, you can zoom in and out, wide angle to macro, and the self focus keeps things crisp, over-all a great quality lens,

Superb carry around lens, (i.e. can cover multiple situations ). Very useful when travelling and need to cut down on weight.I bought this to replace my previous Tamron 18 - 200 which my wife uses so often I need my own! Both are excellent quality, particularly for the low cost.
