I am copying here my dyxum review:Compared to: Sigma 18-200 3.5-6.3 (first version)Positive:Focal rangeSize, weightSharpnessQuiet HSM focusingAF accuracyNegative:VignettingAF speedReview:I used to have the older (first) screw drive version of the lens which served me well for some time, but I wanted a video capable lens for outdoor events - and the screw drive was just too noisy. The new version is better in:1. Sharpness - it is actually pretty sharp wide open for a superzoom (as far as I can see from web images, it is sharper than the Tamron 16-300).2. Close up capability - better magnification, better sharpness.3. HSM quiet enough although clicks can be heard when changing direction.4.AF seems to be more accurate than the old version. It is worse than the original:1. AF speed - I was surprised by this, but the screw drive on the old version was noticeable faster than the HSM in this new version. It's still usable, but especially at longer focal lengths it moves in steps around the final position which may result in missed shots. Having said that, it may be the price for better focus accuracy - it's spot on all the time, while I used to have quite a few misfocused outliers with the old version.2. Vignetting at 200mm wide open. It's pretty strong but easily correctable in post.Things that are about the same as the old version:1. CA - it's there, but not very visible at normal sizes and easily correctable in post.2. Distortion - yeah, it's a superzoom.3. Build - plastic, but seems sturdy enough with no zoom creep so far. It's very compact - good for travel. It should also be noted that it's a Global vision line lens, so the USB dock can be used to microalign AF back/frontfocus, although it was not needed for my copy. This can be useful as most Sony bodies don't have AF microadjust - in particular the entry level bodies, which this lens is primarily targeted for.So I love this lens for what it is - a versatile compact travel lens with image quality that is above its current price level. Amazing value.

Sharp zoom, lightweight (430g.) With fast autofocus. The quality of this zoom lens remains constant even at long focal lengths being able to use f / 7- f / 8 (light !!).18 / mm obviously a bit of distortion, but clear; better use f / 8.Same behavior to 50 mm.200 mm, sharper in the center and the edges with f / 6.3; also good with f / 11.Great for photos in the presence of light. In case of low light must act primarily on the sensitivity, exposure and, of course, rely on a tripod. At this point, the objective will be able to also give in these situations the best.Autofocus very fast, responsive and accurate if used mainly with autofocus single central pointComparable to other higher cost objectives.Aobjective of this quality should be coupled with a prosumer body or with a high-level body to improve the level of the entire set.Obviously with objective with a brighter zoom and F4 constant at all focal lengths the results would be better with low light, exceptional under normal conditions ... but that's another story ....Recommended for travelers who want to travel light and / or can not bring much photographic material.

Looking for a travel lens for my next holiday, I have tried a few of them over the last months but this one is definitely a keeper! For that price I doubt you'll find a better product. Also it is smaller and lighter than the others. I use it on my Canon 600D. Barrel distortion at 18mm is minimal and picture quality is still good at 200mm (although you have to be very still despite the image stabilizer). Even when zooming in at 50% to crop the image, I still get a sharp image. Not as sharp as the Sigma 30mm I use otherwise, but still very decent! Colours are good, although I find it has the same downside as the 30mm, i. e. it tends to overexpose a bit. However, knowing this is a travel lens which I will probably be using on automatic mode a lot while on holiday (I know... it's bad!), I don't mind too much.If you're ready to compromise a bit and are looking for a cheap budget/good quality powerful zoom then you should definitely try this one. This lens belongs to the new Contemporary line from Sigma and is also must sexier than the older version!

I bought this lens from Amazon two weeks ago for my Canon 100D. I wanted a better zoom than the Canon lens supplied with the camera, but didn't want to spend a fortune as I am an amateur, but learning.I am very pleased with the results so far. The pictures are sharp and clear with good colours.I recently went to the Photography Show at the NEC and tried different lens before deciding on this one. It's true there may be better lens costing two or three times as much, but for me this is an excellent lens for this stage in my photography. It's very easy to use and not too big and heavy. I'm having fun taking pictures with it at the moment and I'm pleased with the results.Excellent Customer Service from Amazon,as always.

I bought this lens to replace my 18-55mm standard lens. It is so much better than I ever thought it would be.I do not have to change my lenses as often as I used to. I was very brave and only took this lens on holiday with me to London.I managed to take all of my photos with this lens. Close up and distance photos.

I like the range from 18 to 200mm it means you are swapping lenses much less and can be used as a good all rounder from standard lens to telephoto. Has a long focal length which reduces the versatility at the 18mm end, wide ranging aperture is good but overall a fantastic lens considering the good value.

Good general purpose lens, much lighter and easier to carry on the camera than earlier Nikon or Sigma models, performance is good though not outstanding as you would expect from a lens of this class. An ideal lens for casual and tourist photography.

Perfect travel companion with excellent image quality for a tight budget. Lower build quality than their A series and still zoom ring but this is tolerable for its price range

Ordered this instead of the Canon model. Have not long started using it but to date have no complaints with the quality of photo. Good build quality.
