I open our garden to raise money for NGS Charities and therefore offer teas/coffees. In past years I have relied upon the constant boiling of kettles but this Swan 10 Litre Catering Urn has brought new meeaning and efficiency to 'Refreshments Served Here'.It is unlike any water boiler that I have seen in the past because it is designed to blend into even a small kitchen, like mine. When it is required, it sits neatly on the worktop and is very easy to fill, boil and senses when to switch over to simmer stat to prevent wasted electricity. When it is not required it is easy to empty and does not take up an inordinate amount storage space. This is the first Water Boiler that I have ever seen that does not condensate and leave the room and walls running with water, even my kettle used to give me grief when it was constantly being boiled up, not to mention the fact that it never held enough water to accommodate an entire order, and then had to be replaced with a new kettle a couple of weeks later as it was not up to the job. Anyway, back to the Water Boiler; I had read in the literature, before buying, that it had a specially designed lid to prevent kitchens and the like from condentating, but I was sceptical as to whether it really would live up to my expectations - trust me, it does. Whilst I am on about the lid, it has a locking turn to prevent anybody accidently trying to pull it off when it is in use.I had been concerned about the 'tap' because there was some comment in buyer feedback about the older machine with its metal tap (I believe that it the one that is often featured in the promotional photo) as opposed to the newer urn with a black plastic tap. Mine has the newer tap and all of my helpers agreed that the urn has revolutionised our ability to 'do teas and coffees for garden visitors' Indeed if I have a family tea party I will not hesitate to put my urn into service as it happily produces boiled water for hours on end (although please remember to check on it part way through a busy event to ensure it does not want topping up!) Each time I use it I have it switched on for approximately 8 hours. My final comment is that my feedback relates to the SWAN Catering Urn (I purchased the 10 Litre which is perfect) as I do not believe that all manufacturers have the anti-condensate facility and this is essential if you do not want water running down your walls oh, and don't forget to support the National Garden Scheme - Gardens Open for Charity, because you could help us to raise lots of money for very good charities, and who knows, you might see a Swan Urn in action so that you can judge for yourself!

MY HOT WATER BOILER PACKED IN. I HAD TO HEAT WATER FOR MY BATH TUB TO HAVE A BATH BECAUSE THE WHOLE PLACE HAD GONE DOWN AND THERE I WAS WITHOUT ANY HOT WATER. WHEN EVENTUALLY I WORK OUT A SOLUTION TO MY CRISIS THAT I CAN AFFORD, THE SWAN WILL BE MY SOURCE OF WATER FOR DISHWASHING. 20 LITRES GIVES YOU MORE THAN ENOUGH AND IT TAKES 20-30 MINUTES TO BOIL TO AN ACCEPTABLE TEMPERATURE AND THE TIME JUST FLIES! I PERSONALLY HATE INSTALLING ANY IN-KITCHEN BOILER. ALL THAT PIPING AND TO REPLACE MY CURRENT GAS SYSTEM WOULD BE THREE AND A HALF DAYS OF DISRUPTION AND THEY WRECK YOUR HOUSE, CARPETS, FLOORBOARDS. FORGET IT! THERE MUST BE ANOTHER SOLUTION. THE SWAN IS A LIFESAVER AND REASONABLY SAFE PROVIDING YOU TAKE CARE.AFTER YOU BUY A DISHWASHER THEN THE SWAN CAN BE USED AS AN URN TO PROVIDE MID-MORNING TEA FOR HOME GUESTS. SUCH A VERSATILE THING - THE SWAN! OH YES...BUY SOME OUST DESCALER. IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM ON THIS STAINLESS STEEL URN.Read full review...

Bought this catering urn to replace a Burco one at work. The main reason for the purchase was the tap on the previous item kept cracking and leaking. Unfortunately the picture of the Swan Urn showed a solid stainless steel tap which looked a lot sturdier than the Burco offering, but when the goods arrived I was disappointed to see the box had a label placed over the photo of the tap with a message reading, "New improved tap" with some garb about limescale.Typical, the reason I chose this urn was the tap, yet no mention was made of the design change. The product is good, perfectly adequate for it's purpose, well priced, but I still feel they should have changed the illustration on their site. Also if the lid is twisted into the lock position it becomes almost impossible to remove once up to temperature. A little niggle we can live with, but if the tap fails with the frequency of the Burco item, I'll be more than annoyed.

This is a very good tea urn and no assembly was required. It heats very quickly and looks good. and the water delivery is accurate and doesn't spit or splash--we all remember those college tea urns that spat and spluttered, and where you'd jump each time you were hit by the scalding water. This is not like that. The only slight criticism is that I feel the quality of the plastic tap is not as good as the overall urn quality; it has a bit of a flimsy feel when you flick it down into its permanent open position, and I'd like something just a little smoother in its action, and with less of a jolt. But it works fine and is responsive. The urn holds 20 litres so, that's a lot of teas! Perfect for a cafe, for your builders if you're having renovations done (no more, "Any chance of a brew, luv?") and it seems cost-effective, staying warmed on a very low setting once it's been heated.

We bought this urn to stop the 5 minute wait and general loss of productivity as staff stood around waiting for it to boil - and it has really served its purpose. This is a big earn - we use it in our office for 12 people and only need to fill it up every day or so. It is a bit basic in that it heats all of the water, so this could be seen as not very energy efficient, especially over night if someone forgets to switch it off. So we purchased a digital wall power plug with a timer, it switches the urn on 10 minutes before work and 10 minutes after and off all weekend (make sure you get a digital one with 7 day individual control if you are using it in an office) and now we don't have to worry about the human element! It is supposed to switch off before it boils dry - but we haven't tested this as yet.

I purchased 2 of these urns because I needed to cater for almost 200 people at a monthly meeting and decided that it would be preferable to heat the water in 2 x 10 litre urns rather than 1 x 20 litre one. As storage is not a problem this was a good decision. They arrived promptly, are lightweight and heat to the required temperature very quickly - just over half an hour max - and then automatically switch to 'simmer' which is a useful feature. In order to fill a catering size teapot from them you have to make sure that the urns are placed near to the edge of the work surface but they seem quite safe so I don't find that much of a problem. However, the flow of water is quite slow so some patience is required. In general I am very pleased with them and find them very useful.

Bought this for local church gatherings, it heats up in around 30 minutes and runs unnoticed in the vestry during services, no huffing and puffing or bubbling to interupt the bish, and no clouds of steam to set off the fire alarm. Good capacity (easilly fills 40 paper cups) and quick heating means that it copes well with large numbers of people. Evidence of scale on the bottom after a few uses but this wiped off easilly, popped a couple of kettle de-scalers in (the wire mesh sort) and now runs very cleanly. I am sure that it will provide a good many years of service as long as we follow the guidelines to watch out for scale build up inside the urn and around the tap. Very good value, don't bother looking elsewhere unless you are providing for cathedral-size crowds.

I have always used a water urn and mine was quite steamy but it was compact and plastic and I was very upset when it broke. This replacement which came well recommended has, so far, astounded me. It fills easily in the sink, the drip tray fits without struggle. You just plug in and it boils itself and then settles down to keep the water hot enough for tea and coffee, without noise, without steam. I was more than happy and had it on for about 26 hours without problem. I am only worried about the scale build up but hopefully it will be just as easy to maintain as it is to use. I recommend this to everyone who needs a constant supply of hot water without boiling a kettle.

I got this boiler for our staff room at school which needs to be on all the time with hot water 'at the ready' the minute the bell goes for break. It's great as it doesn't fill the room with steam like the other one did but still maintains the water at the same temperature. The drip tray has been voted 'great' by the staff too. I would recommend this to anyone to buy. If I were recommending a slight change to the manufacturers, I would ask them to make the power lead removable just for ease of use. However this doesn't affect its value as a great urn! Get this one - it's cheaper than the last one I bought and much better quality!

I run an urn for 25 hours at a time. Previous urns I've owned have filled the kitchen with steam, made roaring noises every few minutes, boiled dry and wasted a lot of electricity. I've found adjustable thermostats impossible to set correctly - too low and the water cools down, too high and the water boils continuously. This urn does none of that. It sits quietly and creates no steam. There are no controls to fiddle with, you simply switch it on and wait. It doesn't over boil the water so it uses far less energy. I can't praise this urn highly enough, just wish I'd bought it years ago.

Our central heating boiler packed up over the weekend and having a young family hot water and heating was essential. The part for the boiler was going to take a fews days for delivery and there I needed to find an interim solution. I wanted to buy an urn that would provide ample hot water and do it in a reasonable time. This urn boils water in 15-20 mins. I also decided to buy this particular sized urn so that it could be used during family celebrations etc. It also has a keep it warm function which proved invaluable for our family. The heating element is also concealed.

I use this on a daily basis from 7am-6pm mon-fri, serving around 50–70 cups a day. I have only been using this for a month and so far so good. It arrived quickly and well packaged. The package did not look damaged in the slightest, boost of confidence my product is all well inside. After installing, rinsing and using - wow!!! We love it, keeps water at desired temperature for tea and coffee. Has made our lives a hell of a lot easier. Agaij it has only been a month but I went for this because of the label, and so far it has not disappointed.

Bought the 20l model as our home boiler was broken and needed hot water until we got a new one... it's a great urn and we did just about manage to have very shallow baths with it. I've given it away now as it's too big to have on all the time (obviously can't move it when hot) and the only pet friendly place we could put it was the kitchen, blocking some cupboards. Considering getting a smaller one for general use, as especially when working from home it's nice to be able to quickly get a tea or coffee without waiting for a kettle to boil.
