I'd always wanted a teasmade, must be years of The Generation Game as a kid, lol.To be honest I'm rather impressed with the design and build quality. It's large, but not too large, fits on my bedside table with plenty room to spare. It's very neat and tidy. The display is analog LCD, very easy to set just one button to push to advance the minute hand which then advances the hour, like a real clock in fact. It's bright in the daytime and auto dims at night in stages. I didn't find it too bright. There is mention of darkening stickers, like sunglasses, but that was for the model down from this one, they're no longer needed.Buttons are big and easy to push, great if you don't like fiddly little buttons. One for the bright lamp with replaceable bulb, one for brew now, one for brew at alarm time, one for turn on audible alarm, two smaller ones for set clock time and set alarm time. There is no PM indicator, so don't refill your teapot till nighttime or you'll be having tea again at 6pm, lol.Easy wipe clean plastic, teapot with locking lid ensure you fit the teapot correctly, into the machine so it clicks, read the manual, it's not difficult, there's a safety switch, so if you don't put it fully in, it doesn't boil and shower your table with hot water. It's easy peasy though.I got two big mugs of tea out of one brew, the pot holds over a pint of tea (600ml to be exact) so plenty for two, or lots for one.Amazon sell those milk pots you get in hotels quite cheaply, I pop a few in a mug next to my bed with those paper sugar sticks and a teaspoon.I'm in love with mine, one of the best things I've bought in ages and it has a 2 year warranty too.

Four stars, but maybe should be three. This is a hairsbreadth off being excellent. My immediate reaction to the teasmade is influenced by the enclosed leaflet, which does not show all correct icons for the buttons and fails to describe how to set it for. morning tea! I had to go on the internet to download the correct manual and I assume that the leaflet enclosed was printed in China. A few issues. There is no backup battery, so if there is even a momentary power cut, the time reverts to 12.00, and so no morning tea! Even moving the unit to another location or inadvertently disconnecting the power, the clock and alarm have to be reset. The alarm is very quiet and if you are a deep sleeper then you might miss your cuppa. The brightness of the clock is not able to be adjusted and already my teasmaid is living under a cloth cover as it is too bright. The teasmaid could be used both for bedside and also for another location in the bedroom and the ability to adjust clock brightness might accomodate this choice. The twelve hour clock also means that you can’t reset the unit until the evening unless you want to waste a cuppa in the early evening. Given the easy accessibility of very sophisticated chips with lots of menu features and a backup battery the designers have missed out on making this a very good product, and have opted for an “adequate” rating from me.

I was pleased at the way the product worked when I tried it. It is a simple function which boils water and dispenses it to a jug containing tea bags or coffee or maybe other drinks. It can do this at once or at a time set by the built in alarm. The reason for the dropping of a star is because the the jug lid was damaged on arrival. The lid has two lips which go under the rim of the jug to prevent it from falling out when pouring. Unfortunately one lip had broken off (it was lying in the bottom of the jug) which made lid retention less efficient. To get another lid I found that the only way I could do that was to go through the returns procedure which in practice meant that a complete new unitwas delivered next day even though I had indicated that all I wanted was an undamaged jug lid. When I examined the latest delivery however I found the jug lid was damaged in the same way and had not been packed in the place it was supposed to go. This is somebody's fault, but where along the line I don't know.I will keep the original one delivered because I know it works and I can manage the lid.I have since contacted Swan the manufacturer who have sent me a replacement lid under guarantee which is all I wanted in the first place.

We have owned several earlier teasmades over the years and this one is good. However, the teapot lid is an incorrect size fitting in that it is slightly too small and falls out of the teapot when tipped. It should be replaced as it is a manufacturers fault. Also the clock is excellent and it is easy to adjust the time and alarm BUT the clock blue light needs to be much dimmer for overnight or even switched off. Unfortunately we needed to fit a cardboard screen in front of the clock for overnight use to shade the light. The redeeming feature is quite simply that it does make an excellent pot of tea very quickly which makes my wife very happy! However, yesterday we discovered a significant problem - in the event of a power cut the teasmade loses all of the electronic settings, the time and the alarm. Our Sony alarm clock has an internal power management system which retains the electronic settings when we have power cuts and therefore the time and settings remain intact when the power supply resumes, This is a major consideration for Teasmade and needs to be addressed.I would like to request a replacement teasmade after this power supply problem and also the teapot lid problem have been resolved.

I bought one of these for Christmas however had to return that one (Amazon's return service is incredible - just a few clicks and the new one arrived the next day) as, there was a faulty safety switch which I believe has blighted other people's. Essentially, when you place the teapot in the side, there is a pressure safety switch which depresses enabling the Teasmade to function. Ours however would only depress if I wedged a teaspoon next to the pot, pushing it against the thing which would obviously not do.Our new one works perfectly. It huffs and puffs quite a bit towards the end of the brew however, I find that more effective than the alarm itself! The blue clock face is illuminated constantly and can't be dimmed however,I personally find the shade of blue quite pleasing and it doesn't interrupt our sleep. It is very simple and basic to use - the clock has no indication of pm or am - and makes nice tea. Which is the important thing. Very pleased with it and thumbs up for the return service.

Absolutely love this.Have want ed a Teasmade for ages and now I have got one am so pleased. My husband thinks I’m mad for having it but I love it.Delivered nice and safely. All boxed up and packaged well.Opened up the box and followed the instructions for cleaning the machine before using it and have not had any funny or strange tastes or smells from it.I literally pop the water in the tea pit and fill up the reservoir like it says with the water in the tea pot as that’s the exact amount required.I don’t use the alarm as don’t need it as have a baby so trust me I don’t need an alarm. I literally pop the tea now button and by time I’m back from changing and feeding little one I have a nice little tea pot of tea sitting ready for me.The light in the clock is fine,to me it’s not too bright at all however Hubby disagrees mind you he doesn’t like the nightlight in our baby’s room so there’s no pleasing some people. The machine is lovely. I am so pleased I bought this. Well worth the money x

We had a 1970's Goblin Teasmade which had been refurbished twice and given excellent service, however it had finally given up the ghost with the repair being far more the cost of a new one.As Goblin no longer exist, after much web checking we decided on the Swan as being the next best thing. It arrived on time and as described. Only a brief familiarisation was necessary before putting it into action and it has been doing sterling service ever since. We have no problem with the clock being too bright as some have experienced - the dimmer works well when ambient light is low, however I would not have it on a bedside table as that might be too much.My only very slight criticism is that the teapotis not as big as the old Goblin one so we have less tea for two in the morning - but as it works so well we can forgive that!If you are an old Goblin fan and yours has died, I can thoroughly recommend this machine as a replacement.

I have been working on the best Alarm clock to actually motivate me to get up rather than press the snooze button ....this is it. Works perfectly . A few points to note1) I orginally had the non digital version with ticking clock. in some ways a beter design with the tray but the ticking was unbearable so it got shoved in a cupboard for a few years now looking to sell it2) the light on the digital one is bright and my partner is especially sensitive to light however i cover the machine with a black cloth at night and its perfect no light and still alarm in morning with tea.So i can highly rate the digital l version as close to briilliant - shame a bout the light it be great if it could be switched off and it had the tray like the non digital version. But i wouldn't live without it now very happy with my morning cuppa

This is different from the previous teasmade - as far as I can see it is all-electronic. The old model used to wear out after about three years because either the clock, or the relays, packed up. I'll let you know for certain in three years' time if this one is better! It has all the usual teasmade features. Unfortunately the "designers" have got at it, so it no longer has a flat top with a tray, and it has a digital clock with a face which simulates an analogue clock. This is OK - it is unnecessarily bright, although I don't find it keeps me awake as some reviewers elsewhere have commented - but it would have been easier and better to have a normal digital clock face. But apart from that,it works well!

I requested this as a birthday present for myself due to an existing spinal injury whilst waiting for surgery ..in the meantime I fell down the stairs and ended up in hospital with soft tissue damage and bed bound so I ordered this early for myself and my god what an absolute god send !!!!The only downside is that the little ceramic notches inside to hold the lid on have come off so I have to careful when pouring but it means I am self reliant on making a brew at whatever time of day or night I’m awake. Can’t recommend this enough!!!!!The clock is bright so I sometimes cover it with a sock but that’s ok

I love my teasmade. Its actually my third one, the previous one I dumped when after about 11 years it started to leak a little from the tank. Like all small regularly used appliances they eventually die of old age and need replaced. But its an awesome machine, delivering a lovely pot of tea every morning. I do not use the alarm function, just press the tea now button in the morning. I put milk in my mug, which sits bedside overnight. It does not go off unless it was iffy in the first place. Thats only happened 2 or 3 times. Its not a big deal.

Does what a Teasmade does, but has not really changed since the 70s. The clock is digital instead on mechanical and in that sense the alarm function can be set more precisely, but one would expect these days to be able to set alarms in a 24 hour clock and perhaps have alarm schedules. The alarm is seriously weak compared to the noise of the water being boiled and whooshed into the pot.Functions such as slowly turning the light on etc would also be welcome as much of its functionality is geared to being ready to do something at a time.

We replaced our previous Teasmade which had broken with this one. Fortunately we kept the teapot from the old one because the new one wouldn't work with the teapot that was sent with it. The diameter of the new teapot was smaller than the old one and it was also lighter. The result was that it would not make the micro switch to allow the Teasmade to operate. I guess many others must have had the same problem and am surprised that this fault hasn't been corrected. My new Teasmade works fine with the old teapot!

Found the enclosed instructions incomplete as there is no illustration of all the push switches which makes them difficult to follow when setting up.In desperation I finally 'Googled' the Teasmade and found the online instructions were much more .informative with all of the push switches identified. Can't understand why these were not enclosed with the product?Once over this hump, I found the machine works perfectly and it is nice not to have to go down and up stairs to make that first cuppa'.

The teasmade is larger than it looks in the advert. Much larger than I expected. It is also all plastic except the teapot. The teapot has a large hole in the lid which is where the water enters so when you have made the tea and you go to pour it the steam coming out of the hole is very hot and you could get hurt. A more modern design but not as good as the old design of teasmade in my opinion. I have used the product for about 3 weeks. It was purchased as a birthday present for me.
