After trying out a couple of KVM switches, this is the one that met my requirement 100%. My setup is a bit unusual in that it involves both VGA (from a server computer) and DVI-D (from desktop computer). The experience with different KVM switches - including StarTech.com 2 Port DVI USB KVM Switch which I reviewed in some detail - has shown that integrated (DVI-I) KVM switches do not cope well where there is a mix of analogue and digital and unfortunately there is no pre-warning of this pitfall by manufacturers (at least not explicitly). This KVM is designed specifically where analogue VGA and digital DVI graphics need to be switched, and must be a testament to the fact that the DVI-I interface (which combines analogue VGA and DVI-D interface)may not work as expected. Then you may ask why I didn't rate it with 5-star.This KVM switch is advertised as supporting up to 1920 x 1440 resolution in analogue mode with 1920 x 1200 as a recommended upper limit. Despite this, sometimes (say 1 out of 5) when switched to the VGA graphics, full resolution on my display (operating at 1920x1080) may not be achieved and it settles for lower (mostly 1400 x 900 or thereabouts). This is a symptom of the VGA signal not having the full bandwidth (i.e., the VGA signal coming out of the KVM is not the exact replica of its input - which is expected but the distortion level may be significant to affect the full resolution). Interestingly, toggling the switch away from VGA and then back will almost certainly get you the full resolution so it must be operating near a critical margin. From my perspective, this is an excellent KVM switch where VGA and DVI-D graphics need to be switched. The only minor disappointment is that the VGA graphics can sometimes downgrade its resolution (since the analogue signal passing through the KVM switch can never come out with zero distortion; it's possible to tackle this problem but would increase the cost!). Another very very minor problem is that the LED lights are brighter than they need to be but easy to tolerate this.I haven't even mentioned the Keyboard, Mouse, and USB hub interfaces. These interfaces have no issues at all and work smoothly as advertised.

This is a really handy unit. I use it to switch between my work laptop and home desktop, both of which are driving two displays. It is far less fiddly than using the monitor input selects along with a simple USB switch for the keyboard and mouse. I'm not using the audio functionality as I use a hardware mixer to combine the audio from the two computers and my phone.I'm using an Amazon basics wireless mouse and that works fine. The cables plugging into the rear of the unit are quite close together so can be a bit fiddly, but once set up, hopefully it will not need to be changed very often. One tip that I have is to label all of the cables as this makes it much easier.I was a bit torn if I should go for the dual DVI option or the DVI/VGA.I opted for the DVI/VGA as my work laptop just has a Display Port & VGA output (I had the possibility of getting hold of a laptop docking station that would have provided multiple DVI outputs).I used a Display Port to DVI cable to keep things simple and tidy (simple adapters/conversion cables can be used for converting the video part between DVI, HDMI and Display Port). One niggle is that after only a month one of the USB ports failed. The StarTech.com support line was really good and provided a free return label. The new unit was back after only a couple of days. Let's hope that this one keeps working.... I knocked off a star for the failure, but almost added it it back on again for the fabulous support. There is no manual in the box so you need to download it,.. I have still to do that.... There may however be some benefit in reading it since when reading one of the other reviews (for a 4 port version) it apparently mentions that to change channels, instead of pressing the select button on the box it can be done from the keyboard. Just press CTRL then CTRL again and the then number key for the channel that you want.Just be aware that after having had one of these units, it is really frustrating to go back to manual switching. It is a kind of luxury item that if it is not there that it is sorely missed - a bit like a dishwasher.

Solid, heavy design and simple operation, but connections for mouse and keyboard have been problematic.Installation for the screens was simple and I have two dual screen HP workstations rigged to switch seamlessly between screens at the touch of a button using display port to DVI cables from the PC's and DVI to DVI cables from the console ports to the existing screens. There is no issue with resolution and I am running high end CAD software without a hitch. However attaching the mouse and keyboard has not been successful despite following the manufacturer's website instructions. I have standard HP mice and keyboards, (not sophisticated gaming keyboards) that I have plugged into the designated USB ports in order but cannot, alas, control the two PC's from one keyboard and mouse. I therefore have a pair of keyboards and mice in the backs of the PC's at this stage which is not great but it works.Any assistance or phone walkthrough by the manufacturing company would be helpful to be able to get a single mouse and keyboard connected and operational. Spent 20 minutes rigging the screens and over an hour unsuccessfully trying to get the keyboard and mouse recognised via the hub. If this works in the near future then this is a great way to keep your 1 or 2 screens and rig 2 dual output PC's that you may use for different functions without looking like a city trader...

I like this product a lot. It's easy to use and works well. A few issues with the keyboard at first but once I read another review here and followed the advice for usb keyboards the device is faultless. Now happily switch between laptop and desktop. Only thing to note is no shared ethernet. Wasn't expecting it to have one but it's now the only connection I have to manually switch.

Its difficult to get very excited about a switching device. I followed the instructions, plugged it in; it worked first time. I am now seamlessly switching between my desktop PC and my laptop (via a docking station). Both machines run 64-bit Windows 7. Keyboard, mouse, USB, speakers, microphones and two Iiyama AS4637 monitors all switch perfectly. Job done!

I got this product so i could use my macbook as a desktop pc without having t faff about unplugging monitor cables, mouse, keyboard etc.. from my desktop windows computer. This product does exactly what it says it does. nothing to install just easy plug and play. only downside is that it seems a little pricey for a box that just switches between two pc's.
