For such hard pencils, these deliver a good amount of pigment. If you find sharpening a chore then these are a good choice.I would probably not recommend the 12 pencil tin unless your needs are very basic. There are only 12 colours, plus 2 browns, white and black. The one red doesn't blend, so you cannot create an orange, pink or flesh tone. You can blend the other colours. The good thing about the 12 tin is that it will fit in a jacket pocket. The tin itself is very classy. Stylish in appearance. The lid has a smooth quiet hinge. I am very pleased that the inside of the tin lid is textured, so that it disperses reflected light. The plastic insert which seperates the pencils, protects the penclils from colliding with the tin when carried, so keeping your points sharp. The pencils arrived fully sharprened. If you wish to be really precious about your tin, you may be pleased that it comes in a resealable plastic sheath. There is not a comparable competitor to these Stabilo pencils. Derwent Academy have less pigment, are scratchy and inconsistent. Derwent Artist only have feint colours their smallers tins. Stadelar Norris have little pigmenatation. The only other hard pencils that I regularly use are WH Smiths. They are a bit softer, have strong pigmentation and come in a flimsy box.Overall======Excellent pencils, in a well designed tin. Worth 5 Stars for a larger set.

You know when you suddenly have an idea to do some colouring but you are an adult and no longer have colouring in pencils so you pop down your local cheap shop and pick up a huge pack for a couple of quid. Then you get the pencils home, happy to have saved money then you use the pencils.......Oh dear......Most of them have very little rub off and you cant actually get them to colour anything. That is trhe exact opposite of these pencils.Yes these pencils arnt cheap but by gosh they are good. They sharpen to a nice point (important if you dont want to colour over the lines!). They have really good rub off and so leave a deeply pigmented colour on the paper with very little effort. Its definitely worth paying the price for a decent set of pencils. The tin is also well designed. It can be hard to get pencils out of a tin but Stabilo thought of everything. if you press down on the top of the pencil in the tin the business end pops up and you can just slide it forward to the edge of the tin and pick it out. Genius! There is a good range of colours, only complaint would probably be id swap one of the three diff blues for a dark green but this is a small set so i wouldnt expect a full range of shades. Id certainly be tempted to treat myself to a larger set of these.

Stabilo Original thin lead colouring pencils come as a tin of 12 high, artist grade pencils in vibrant colours. What I like about them is the fact they feel professional, are made of high quality wood and break-resistant graphites without being too pricey. I must admit I’m a bit of stationery addict and my first impression after opening the tin was that they have lovely scent of high quality pencils. Also there is maroon colour in the set which is not that usual and I was actually missing this shade couple of weeks ago while working on some project. But I’m a bit disappointed with lack of orange in the set of 12, there are two shades of yellow but no orange, a bit strange.I would rather have the orange instead. Also it is said they are "aquarellable" meaning they can be used as regular crayons and then treated with water to make the drawing look like watercolour painting... but I find this a bit of a stretch. Yes, they do smudge when brushed with water (as they are not water-resistant) but actual watercolour pencils works much better for this purpose.

I could have done with these the other day when I was reviewing a colouring-in book which needed very fine point pencils - these would have been ideal.I like the fact that they seem to stay sharp for a long time, and you can easily re-sharpen them without losing too much of the pencil in the process, unlike some. There is a good range of colours ranging from white to black and all the colours of the rainbow in between. They blend well together and the leads are really strong, so do not break very easily, making them an excellent choice for any fine detail work. The tin stays closed well and the pens are held in a plastic tray, so they don't rattle around. It is a pleasant change to have somewhere to store them separately from the container of generic pens and pencils we have in this house (you know, every house has one). They are slightly on the expensive side, but you really do get what you pay for, a set of good and long lasting colouring pencils with a good, strong and fine point.

12 thin pointed colour pencils in a gold tin. The tin is probably a bit narrower than A5. all 12 pencils sit in a little dip so there is no danger of them rolling around if you take this set out in a bag. All 12 colours give good depth and colour value. I did press quite hard and considering the length of the nibs, they didn't break. Obviously if you pressed super hard, they would snap but that would mean you are trying to break them, rather than colour with them! You can go over them with a bit of water and this causes a nice water colour look. As a gift for someone who colours, i think this is nice because it's not a bulky childish looking tin!Great for adult colouring books which do require more attention to detail.

This is an amazing box. I love the quality of the pencils; they are very pigmented and in a good shape. They make it easy to shade, either with dark or light. They have a watercolour aspect which, when added to some water, can seriously amplify the pigment to make it stronger and smoother. The design of the pencils is good, to help avoid rolling, although they are heavily labelled. The only issue is that the colour selection doesn't have any skin tones. There is a great selection of blues, but only one green. This is a trade off, in a set of this size, there will always be a difficulty in the range. This particular set emphasises primary colours.Highly recommended

A very nice selection of pencils from a well known brand. I'm not an artist but these would be ideal for me for just using in adult colouring in books and also colouring plans for work. I suspect if you are more of a professional then the limited colour range wouldn't be that great. It would have been nice to have had a couple of different colours, there are 2 yellows and 2 browns but no orange or purple but the fine points colour in nicely and don't keep breaking as some cheaper products would do. I'm very happy with these and the storage tin is well made with each pencil having its own slot.

Excellent quality pencils, well made and suitable for an artist of any age in a reasonably robust tin. However, I do feel that, as a set, they are incomplete. The colours included are 1 black, 2 shades of brown, 1 green, 3 shades of blue, 2 shades of red, 2 shades of yellow and 1 white. I understand the principles of colour mixing, but this doesn't always work well with crayons and I felt it should include something between the two red and the two yellows in the form of a good orange and/or a purple and 2 blues instead of 3 shades of blue.

These are very good quality pencils with a nice point which is both strong and precise. The colour you an put on the paper with these can be light but when needed puts a lot of colour where you want it unlike some cheaper brands the colours are deep and very saturated. The only down side of the set of twelve is the strange fact that it contains no orange just an orangish yellow and a lemon yellow, the set also has a white which I would find useful and is not always found in a smaller set.

A really smashing set of artists’ colouring pencils from Stabilo. A fair range of colours, but lacking a purple or orange. No big deal as if worked properly, you can pretty much mix any colour you like. The colour of the lead is the same as the hexagon shaft. Comfortable to hold, the are ideal for left-handers as well as right-handers. The traditional metal case is a throwback to the days when pencils were treasured. You’ll certainly treasure these. Lovely pencils.

This pack of 12 STABILO 8773-6 Original Thin Lead Coloured Pencil 2.3 mm Assorted Colours are great for detailed art work and projects. Stabilo is a well-established brand and they always produce quality stationary items. The price is about average for this kind of pencil and good value from Amazon. Would recommend for serious artists and those who need professional results.

These are fantastic. I have a couple of Mindful Colouring Booklets and these are very good for colouring. My kids are using them even more for various colouring tasks for Year 2 and 4. The tips are strong so we aren't having the tips breaking anyhow. I like that they come in their own storage case. Inside each pencil has its own slot so they are not just wobbling inside.

I don't think you can go wrong with Stabilo and this set of 12 coloured pencils is excellent. Perfect for the budding artist.I really like the tin box that these come in - much better than the flimsy plastic, and easy to store, and carry around in the school bag tooA wide range of colours, with good nibs that don't break easilyExcellent and great value for money

Beautiful gold coloured tin - really sweet and small. It houses 12 colouring pencils which I think look really nice in there..The pencils are thin and a nice variety bit limited colours being 12 of them of course. The pigment seems strong enough to feel decent quality but doesn't feel as strong as some artist quality pencilsHowever a lovely set you can enjoy.
