I usually use black fine liners by Uni Ball or gel pens, both for drawing and for general writing so I thought it would be fun to try out this colourful set by Stabilo. You get a set of 8 pens in a nice selection of colours: one of each in black, blue, purple, dark green, light green, turquoise, pink and red. The colours are vibrant but do bear in mind that the ink is not permanent or waterproof and will smear and smudge if your inked work gets into contact with water (this could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what you plan to use the pens for). All the pens have a reasonably fine nib of 0.3mm, which is suitable for writing with without text looking too thick. They don't feel as smooth as gel pens in my opinion, but the ink flow feels fine and the pens are comfortable to draw, doodle and write with. The unique thing about these pens I guess, is the "Sensor Technology' which means that the nib is spring-loaded so if you press too hard, the nib starts to retract. I must use a pretty light touch though as although I tested it and the nib-retraction does indeed work, I haven't noticed this ever happening during everyday use.Overall, a nice set of quality pens, reasonably good value I think, for what you get. They're suitable for writing, drawing etc and you get a good varied mix of colours in the pack.

These Stabilo Sensor pens are not a set that have previously come to the attention of my 'ALL the pretty pens' problem so I am very glad to have had the opportunity to try these out as they have entered into my regularly grabbed collection. Please see photo for colours, depth of ink and thickness of line. These 0.3mm nib pens are definitely my favourite of the writing pens I recently tried from Stabilo for a number of reasons. They solve the problem of the bent scratchy 88 nib which over time would wear with extensive use heavy handed or not, but especially if borrowed by someone with concrete hand! They are spring loaded meaning the nib won't bend or wear giving a smooth swoopy writing experience. The ink appears to be a higher quality than the 88s too with more vibrant finish and more luminosity from the writing. The colours are admittedly a little pedestrian (although I do love the addition of a magenta purple, herby pale green and turquoise) compared to some other collections but to be honest these really are the business for taking notes of extensive writing. I can forego a little whimsy now and then for a good writing experience.Overall, these are fab and I look forward to an wider colour collections in this range.

A great value pack of 6 fine tipped writing pens in assorted colours. The range of colours deserves mention as to say they are pink, blue, green and black doesn't really explain it. There is one black pen which is great for signatures and fine writing. There is one blue pen, but not the sort of blue you think of - it is veering towards the aqua marine spectrum and is a refreshing pen to write with. There are two different pinks, one of which is veering towards the purple end of pink and is very 'in your face'. There is also another pink which is perhaps more what you would expect. There are two greens, one of which is fairly pale and maybe more what you might expect from a green pen,but the other is a very rich green that is a great note writing pen.Basically these "fineliners" are for much more than underlining but add scope to your writing and are really quite impressive - they are in no way to be confused with felt pens because there performance is way above that standard. I will use these exhaustively and when they do I will replace as they are a great range of colours for post-its, journaling and note taking.

These Sensor Pens from Stabilo have a fine (0.3 mm) nib and are a superb to write with. The eight pens come in a plastic wallet.Eight pens, eight colours ... Red, pink, light blue, light green, dark green, purple, dark blue and black. These fine liner pens come complete with lid and a spring loaded tip which adjusts according to your writing style. The pens are comfortable to hold and to write with. These pens write extremely smoothly without a hint of dragging on the paper. The colours are bright, the lines are crisp and the ink colours look good on white paper.I mainly use these colourful pens to mark various passages in books and I also use them to mark recipes that I want to try from different cookery books. We are a large family of nine and I also use these colourful Stabilo pens to add events, appointments etc. onto our family calendar, the appointments stand out and it is easy for our children (I use a different colour for each child) to look up appointments and events pertaining to them.

Fab fab fab. These are almost better than my Stabilo 68's and i LOVE my 68's.The pen is nice and chunky and feels lovely in the hand. There is a code on the side of each pen thats lets you know what shade it is which is very handy for reordering and for doing colour match charts against other stabilo pen ranges. I have the 68's the 88's, the pointmax, and now the sensors. My favourites are the 68's because they flow well, have a massive range of colours and dont streak over large areas which make them perfect for my artwork. The sensors are now a hairs breadth away from being better than the 68's. They are much better than my 88's. The flow is great, the colours nice and sharp, they do not scratch or pill the paper, do not bleed and do not streak. However they are quite limited at the moment because they only come in 8 colours. I think they really need to expand this range to a full range of 36/48 colours.Very impressed, thank you Stabilo.

Very nice pens in nice bright, vibrant colours and a 0.3mm fine line tip. For those who love bright coloured pens and a fine tip, what's not to love? Well, one thing I did notice is that the 0.3mm tip seems thicker than I would expect. I tested it next to my Inkjoy 1.0mm pen and the Inkjoy 1.0mm gives a finer line! Why is this, I don't know, perhaps it's the difference between ink and felt tip pens? I think the ink on the felt tip spreads too much or it's a different type of ink. The pen itself feels a little light, possibly even "cheap" compared to other pens. Of course if you are going to use this for a lot of colouring in or drawing then perhaps the lightness of the pen would be welcome.Anyway, the colours are great, I love all the bright colours available now, but I am not finding this to be a fineliner compared to other fineliners on the market, and I think it has to do with the felt tip. 3.5/5 because of the spreading

I use these pens at work to make the process of making otherwise quite dull notes and annotations more cheerful. Their function is as a writing pen. They are a joy to use and, after months of use, have not run dry. The colours are vibrant and highly distinguishable from each other. I will absolutely re-purchase them, and do really like them, but have had to knock a star off because:(a) their nibs do eventually become highly angled and difficult to use, long before the ink runs dry. This is purely through writing and not from more intensive activity such as colouring in. As a result they do have a more limited lifespan than they would otherwise; and(b) many of the colours fade quite easily in the sun.I have notes on my office wall which have faded to nothing after only a couple of weeks - the pink and purple seem to be particularly susceptible.

A great set of fineliner (0.3) fibre-tipped pens in 8 colours (including a black). The pens are 'sensor' because the tip is on a sprung fitting - if you press firmly the tip will push inwards. I've had similar fineliner tipped pens where the tip isn't sprung and if it's used too firmly it can push into the body of the pen.The fibre tip is strong and the lines that it draws are clear and firm. They work well for writing or drawing. I like the fine 0.3 tip, they suit my handwriting really well but they are great for fine-line drawing too. There is no feathering or bleed in my usual Rhodia notebook,Post It Note paper or some absorbent paper I have that other pens struggle with feathering on.The colour range is good but it might have been nice to have an orange in the place of one of the greens.A really good set of pens that I would buy again.

Excellent set of Stabilo writing and drawing fineliner pens. There is a reasonable assortment of colours here, and the pens are comfortable to hold, flow perfectly, and the spring loading means they adjust to individual handwriting and drawing styles. The 0.3mm nib on the pen's is ideally suited to handwriting, and no pressure is required. The nibs are robust, and the spring loading means they don't get pushed into the main body of the pen. My daughter has been using these to do fine line drawings for several days, and she is very pleased with them. She says they are much easier to use than other fine liner pens. A more varied selection of colours would have been welcome, but these are readily available separately. This pack is an excellent introduction to the Stabilo Sensor range, and the price is very reasonable too.

An artist's colouring pen, rather than a designer's: Stablo's coloured fine-liners deliver an almost, but not quite, flawless 2d plain of colour. This is ideal for fine art, where the emphasis is on creativity for its own sake, but for product-design purposes, where the finish has to be without blemish, this product only just falls short. The design of the tip, however, is efficient enough for drafting a smooth and straight line, with the most rudimentary of draftsmanship. The pigment is where this product stands up: the lighter shades being vibrant and strong; whilst the darker shades maintain their pigment, instead of appearing muddy and indistinguishable,as is often the case with ink or felt-tip pens.An all-round happy and fun purchase, with potential to help the artist lift their 2d imagery effectively.

I bought these for my daughter who is doing shorthand as part of her journalism masters degree. To me, they look like pens, no more no less. However, my progeny swears by them; her tutor recommended them as widely held up as the best pen for shorthand and Sophie agrees. She has handed a couple out to her friends on the course and they also have bought them as a result. In longevity terms, the original box of ten (minus three given away) is still going strong, with only two run out of ink. She is flying at 100+ words per minute after a short time and lots of practice, obviously. I asked if she wanted to try some different pens so she had a yardstick to measure quality by.She said ‘Why would I do that when these are already perfect?’ She has a point.

These pens are a pleasure to work with. The colours are vibrant and you have some control over how much colour you put down. They will bleed through paper, more than Staedler triplus, but in some ways I prefer these. The purple, pink and greens works extremely well together. The blue is a bit of a mismatch. You can work it with the pink and lighter green, but a warm yellow or orange red would have been more welcome.I have size 10 hands and feel comfortable holding these pens for long periods. The wallet is reasonably durable. The pen tops sit firmly on both ends the pens, which is just is just as well, as my cat is determined to run off with one. This 6 pack is the only pack size that has not been discounted,so is not the best value at this time.

I've been using these all day today, and I love them. The 0.3mm fine point means they're perfect for writing as opposed to colouring and the colours are vibrant and strong. No bleeding even on recycled paper and the 'sensor' in the name refers to the fact that the tip is spring-loaded.This means it adjusts to your writing style, particularly handy if you tend to be a little heavy-handed. The pens are comfortable to hold and the lid once removed, can be clicked onto the end of the pen which I find balanced the pen out compared to using it with the lid separate, and improved my writing comfort further.Woul love to see these in a bigger pack with even more colours!

I have been using this pen for a couple of months now and it still feels like it’s got plenty of life in it. I have probably overdone it with a box of 10! However I’m sure I’ll use them all even though it will take me some time doing so. It’s a great pen and from a feature standpoint, brings cushioned writing and a metal encased tip to the table. The latter is a very import thing for those that use drawing pens alongside rulers or stencils. It gives the tip added durability that other similar pens can't handle. The cushioning works in conjunction to make this a very comfortable pen to write. Would definitely recommend it!
