I was slightly skeptical when purchasing this as I wasn't sure whether the two plastic clips would actually get in the way when I didn't want to use them. Happily, they slide easily off the end and with both detached, you have a regular level until you pop them back on. The two clips are a simple yet very clever addition and grip the level with just the right level of friction to provide easy enough travel and fixity, allowing you to easily transfer length measurements at a level line (e.g. the distance required for two wall fixings).
