I bought this game for my daughter at Christmas, who was 3. I work in an Infant School and we use a lot of Orchard Toys games, but I hadn't seen this one before. It is a simple game where a player spins the spinner and then has to choose a dog with that many spots on-reinforcing counting to 6. Then at the end of the game, they can turn over all the cards they have collected and count the total number of bones in the dog baskets. This can be up to 20+ so was really good for teaching my daughter the teen numbers which she was a bit shaky on. Also, the game obviously is good for turn-taking and all the social skills.I'd really recommend this game-good fun and great value for money. It comes in a small-ish box so maybe good for leaving at a Grandparent's house?

I bought this for the children where I work. They love this game been 3 and 4 they get bored with counting and flashcards, this game has become a fun and useful teaching tool. The children love turning the cards over at the end to see who has the most bones. The pictures are bright and cheerful the board used for the cards and spinner is thick and hardwearing. This game has also been great for teaching the children to take turns and share. If playing with a smaller number of children or those with a shorter attention span try removing some of the cards so they don't get bored. Overall a great product I would recommend this.

This was bought for my son's 3rd birthday and it is perfect, in that he loves counting and this is the key aim of the game - counting spots and then counting bones. The excitement of choosing a dog and discovering how many bones are in it's basket (on the reverse of the card) adds to the fun of the game!My older two children (7 and 5) also enjoyed playing it with him, and because it is such a straight forward and basic game, the three of them could play together quite happily. However, I would not recommend it for children much older than 3 as it doesn't really have any further development options.

I bought this Orchard game for my daughter who is 3 1/2.I love the fact that it is not only a counting game but a game of chance. You need to roll a dice then find a corresponding card. On the back of that card are bones - either 1,2 or 3. The person with the most bones is the winner. From a parents point of view it means that you aren't constantly trying to lose.... and from a childs point of view I feel it is important for them to learn that they can't win everything!!!I found her counting skills developed very quickly - using pattern recognition on the dice - just as i would.

I am a big fan of orchard games at the moment and have to say their is alot of educational value to them. This game is great for the application of 1-1 correspondance and number recognition. Many schools are buying into games like these however it is great to see that family can buy them to and can help reinforce learning with their child. The game is easy to follow and many children can play it independently after being introduced to how to play. The great thing is if your child struggles to read you can adapt it and just use a dice. Children will come to love this game!

I bought this game for my grandchildren aged three years. It aids their counting skills and is bright enough to attract their attention and keep them amused. When the dog selected had no bones in his basket this upset one of my grandchildren until I explained the bones were so tasty the dog must have eaten them all. A good educational fun game. I have several Orchard games and puzzles and they are brilliant!

Spin the dial to pick up card of a dog with 1 - 6 spots on it (teaches visual recognition). Towards the end of game, there is often no card with the number of spots spun on the dial (teaches child patience until their number is spun). Back of card has 0 - 3 bones. Winner is the one with the most bones when all cards picked up (teaches counting over 10).Very similar to the Orchard Toys Ladybird game.

This game is well made and well thought out. It makes it difficult for adults to 'let children win' and children realise quite quickly that it is not possible to cheat. Turn taking and being pleased for the winner then take over. We had a lot of laughs and not too many tears with this game. A great favourite and not too boring for older children to join in with little brothers and sisters.'

Fab game for preschoolers. after a few games I found my daughter didn't need to count the spots and could guess a number based on the type of dog so not sure it's great for quick recognition of numbers (or maybe it's teaching her association?) but she always comes back to it and loves counting the bones up at the end. Would be good to have a few alternative game ideas you could play with it.

A brilliant game, able to be played by my 2 year old as well as his older brother. I really must comment on the manufacturer, though. The 2 year old was sick on one of the cards and even worse, on the spinner!!! I emailed Orchard toys to see if they sold spares. They replied promptly and sent me the parts free of charge - and by first class post. A first class company.

I have a 3 year old daughter and this has become a firm favourite in our house. Bought it to help her to count up to 20.- You have to count up all the bones at the end to see who wins. Games by Orchard toys are generally very good. The Shopping List game was the previous favourite. I have also bought it as a present for two other children. Totally recommend it!!

This game is perfect for young children who have short attention spans but want to learn how to take turns and enjoy sharing with another child or adult. The rules are simple and the idea of collecting the most bones is appealing and does not require particular skill. Good for learning to count and to explore turn taking and the concept of winning and losing.

My friends 3 year old was just getting interested in counting when I bought him this game. He is 4 no and still enjoys playing with it, it is still in great condition too, even after lots of use. I am a reception teacher and we also use various orchard games at school, they are great, educational and usually simple enough for children to use independently.

A lovely game for younger children to help them practise their counting and number recognition. Its quick to play so there is always time to fit this in, no matter how many jobs are waiting in the wings for a busy mum to complete. My daughter (6) loves this game and its easy enough for her to play with friends too ... would suit any child from 4 upwards.

Bought this game to play with my son when he was 4 and we love playing it together. The simple 1 - 6 spinner and spottydogs is perfect for learning numbers and quanities plus the suprise of the bones in the basket really adds to the excitement. We have celebation dances when we get 3 bones!! Its great for kids to play with each other too...a great game!
