On balance this is a good toy. I was also unsure about purchasing this based on the reviews. We have magic/kinetic sand, which is great, but my son tires of it in about half an hour. As this set comes with the digger and the grinder etc and the rock looks so realistic, it has made a much better toy for him and has really seemed to fire his imagination. He loves it and will easily spend much longer playing with it. Now for the downside - unlike the sand which sticks best to itself this stuff sticks equally well to anything else, clothes, socks etc you name it... when it sticks to anything material it tends to get fluffy and we have to bin it. Its a bit frustrating that if he reaches across with his arm in long sleeves it ends up on his top.

Our family have had hours of fun playing with this, adults included... I imagine it would be a great sensory toy for much older kids too! We bought it for Christmas and used it at the living room table... The one downside to this is that this stuff gets everywhere! I found it stuck to socks and clothes and even mistook a piece (it's real rock by the way) for a dropped morsel of food, which I (obviously) decided to eat... Not my finest moment! I'd recommend it's played with outdoors, maybe a sand and water table or one of those play tray setups. Still highly recommended as it's a lot of fun.

My 4 year old son really loves this item, as do his friends. It is quick and easy to set up. The box itself folds out to play with the 'rock' in it. Others have said they hate the fact that you get bits everywhere. If you are a bit disciplined (eg brush down legs before you go play with something else!) we've found it relatively easy to have only a bit of spillage out of the box onto the floor outside and any loose bits you find you can really easily pick up with a bigger wodge of rock (like blu tak). The digger claw part is a bit fiddly and tricky to use as it is intended.

I very nearly didn't buy this after reading so many bad reviews but my son kept asking for it for his Birthday so I ended up buying it. I don't really understand why it has so many negative reviews. My son absolutely loves playing with this! He plays with it inside the box as it folds out to play on and is easy to clean up! He's got the little rocks onto the carpet and clothes etc. but it cleans up easy enough. I'm glad I purchased this for him. The only negative is the claw on the digger doesn't stay on but doesn't stop my son using it.

Loved by my 4 year old nephew.Varied reviews made me nervous but the truck wasn’t as flimsy as reported in my opinion.The rocks are great. They have various sand brands but the rocks seem far easier to ‘resurrect’ after drying out from being left out. A little squish around in the hand for a 10 seconds and it’s soft and ‘sticky’ again. Not sticky in the sense it sticks to hands, just itself. Given this trait it happily lives in he cardboard box it arrived in.Hours and hours of run for the wee one.Happily recommend

Almost didn’t buy because of the other reviews, but so glad I did. It’s sticky, as in its sticks to itself, but doesn’t really leave any residue on your hands. Comes with a play box so can be played with tidily and only get a few bits on the floor - but no more annoying than playdoh. This has been my sons favourite birthday present and has so far spent 2 solid days playing with it (He’s just turned 4). No breakages of the included diggers as yet. Fantastic purchase!

This was a top 5 present from my young 7 year old last Christmas. It is a very odd substance and he really enjoys playing with it. However he is not the most careful little boy and little bits regularly end up in the carpet and on the floor. I know this because I stand on them regularly and then need to individually remove them from my sock. They are so annoying like those tiny goosegrass balls you get stuck to you when out in the countryside.

My little boy loves this and gets all of his construction toys in the box. Only issue is the ‘rock’ gets everywhere!!! I spend hours picking it off the bottom of my socks after it’s been put away. The hoover doesn’t pick all of the bits up maybe because it’s sticky. He plays at the kitchen table but might try on the tiles kitchen floor so the boys are easier to sweep up. Definitely NOT for carpet ?

My 3 year old got this for his birthday and he loves it. My son loves sensory themed activities and therefor this was perfect.He also wanted to feel the sand towards his face wich resulted in a bit of sand around his eye and he needed help. So I would suggest play under supervision. Brilliant toy.

Great fun although I bought it for my 2 and a half year old and I would say he's not quite ready for this sort of thing. Found it more fun getting the sand everywhere which sticks to everything so I'd say its for a slightly older child.

Brilliant stuff! Miles better than the kinetic sand. My 4 year old plays with this for hours. It can get stuck to clothing but I’ve find it easy enough to remove. Planning to order one of the other sets to go with this. Would recommend

Our kids love it and played with it for hours! Bought more it was so popular with all 4 of children. Originally bought as a birthday gift for our eldest son. You have to expect mess with this sort of toy but adds to the fun.

Customer service excellent. The box was a bit empty, so looked lile you were gettimg more than you were. However it went down a treat as a present and little boy of 4 loves it!!

Brilliant stuff. I’m a childminder so always looking for non messy play! This stuff is fab and my children love it really easy to clean and so much fun to play with.

The parts were good quality and enough sand to play with Would be better if the box was more substantial and was made without gaps for sand to fall out of
