My 5 year old niece desperately wanted one of these for Christmas but it was sole-d out at the local toy shop. I got out my shellphone and fortunately Amazon Prime came to the rescue and mer-made her day.My niece decided to seas the day and dive straight in. Oh ship, I thought, this is going to make such a mess! But it was actually ok. We made these in two stages. For the first part, my 5 year old niece was like a fish out of water and needed some help. We mixed the plaster together and poured it carefully to make sure we had no bubbles. It took a day to dry which wasn’t fintastic as children don’t always have much patience. It was amazing, that’s for shore, turning them out and seeing the shapes we had made. When we started painting I thought “Whale, what on earth do we have here?” as they didn’t look quite like the pictures when we’d finished!! But they got her seal of approval - she thought they were mer-mazing and I didn’t want to krill her vibe so I just let her get on with it. The excess paint washed off easily and which little mermaid in your life doesn’t love glitter?Overall a fun set and it could be re-used if you buy some plaster separately - one to shellebrate!

This is the 5th of these mould sets we've bought or received as gifts, we are big fans!In my rush to purchase I didnt realise that unlike the other ranges, this one only includes 1x bag of plaster, hence why it is half the price of the others. The detail of the mermaid design is a lot more intricate than other sets, (e.g. cupcakes) so would suit an older more careful child 7yr old+ more than a rushing 5yr old. Due to the need for precision, the makers have kindly included a finer point paintbrush and still the same amount of paint as other sets. You are expected to mix your own colours. This is not realistic for very young kids to achieve with these miniature pots so I always have our own ready mixed poster paints at the ready.Lovely craft set to kill a few hours. When mixing the plaster and filling the provided mould tray, we always have enough leftover to fill 2 or 3 extra moulds from our other design sets (see photo showing our bonus extras we made). If the child mixes the plaster gently they are less likely to get bubbles which make holes when the plaster is set.Fab set, but trickier intricate design than others.Amazing value for the length of entertainment it provides.

I have used 4 packs of these now (ballerinas & fairies) and my 4 year old and 8 year old love doing them. It is very easy to mix the plaster and pour it into the moulds. It takes around 15 minutes for the plaster to set and then the painting can begin. It is tricky to paint the detail right - my 8 year old can take up to 30 minutes to paint one little figure - but she is old enough to make them look amazing. My 4 year old paints them quickly and they don't look that great but she finds them beautiful and is very proud of them. The quality of the paint, brush and glitter is very high, as is the detail in the moulds. The figures are easy to get out of the moulds without breaking them. This is great for anytime entertainment for the children, and also for playdates. Also makes good presents.

When I saw this set I knew straight away my 5 year old would love this. Fairies +glitter + paint = great fun (for both of us)The set comes with 6 different designs and 2 packs of plaster of Paris, plus paints and a brush. And glitter to finish the designs off. There is plenty of plaster to make the sets twice. The are also magnets that can be added as they start to dry.An adult needs to make the plaster, and try not to let any air bubbles into the mixture, that is a challenge in itself, although my husband is much better at that than me!When the plaster has dried, the fairies can be removed from the mould and away you go, your little ones imagination can really run wild!

We spent a lovely Sunday making these. We over filled the moulds a bit - they don't need to be flush to the top, and the badges were a bit fiddly to keep out of the plaster of paris until it had set. I took off one star as my son really wanted to make badges and only a couple of badge pins were provided. As there is enough plaster in the kit to make a dozen moulds I'd have thought at least half a dozen would be in the box. However all other aspects are great. My son really enjoyed mixing the plaster and pouring into the moulds. And he loved painting them once set later in the day. Really nice product.

Bought this for my little sister who is 4 for Christmas. The name alone sounded fabulous, the sound of ''Glitter Fairy's'' made her eyes light up. She really enjoyed painting them and glittering these up. They are a little messy with the glitter and obviously the paint so that is something to be cautious of if your a bit of a clean freak. Overall for the price of £8, absolutely fabulous present for a young girl! 9/10

My 6 year old daughter had fun mixing the plaster and pouring it into the moulds to make mermaids. It then kept her quiet for ages painting them. She really enjoyed this and the mermaids are proudly on diplay. I would point out that the mermaids are small approx. 2 inches high. There is enough plaster and paint to make all the mermaids twice and the paint is lovely quality and nice colours.

My 8 year old daughter got one of these when she was a bit younger and really wanted another so I got it for her for christmas and she absolutely loved doing it again. Many hours of fun making and then decorating them. fun and easy to do. Not a lot of mess. If your child likes making and creating and they are girly this will be a perfect present.

I like to give my niece and nephew presents which they can spend some time assembling, and then enjoy whatever it is they have made & customised. It helps keep them quiet for an hour on a rainy day, and maybe even helps nurture their creative skills. I think they are great presents, and the children enjoyed decorating them.

Handy toy to have for visiting children. Slightly messy mixing the plaster but fun in making and more fun decorating. One drawback is fixing the magnetic strip provided. The back of the plaque needs to be sanded flat the day after moulding otherwise the self-adhesive material on the strip fails. I found glueing was better.

Brilliant, bought as a present. The only thing I would say is the y arrived in the post without a box around them to protect them and their box. Which means as they are a present I've had to sit and wet the post label off the box. Just glad it was a fine couple of days and it did not get knocked about in the post.

Great little activity - took a while to set, but I popped them out when they were firm and blasted them in the microwave on low/defrost for 30 seconds at a time until they were done - worked brilliantly! My girls loved painting them too. They're only small, but very cute and a lovely gift/wet afternoon activity!

Need a bigger box as the fun stopped way to early - this is a fantastic arts and crafts and this kept a 7 year old amused for hours, painting all the different fairy's - we got 10 fairy's out of it so that's 4 more than it says on the box but please sell it in a bigger amount as it worked wonders for amusement.

Bought for birthday gift but these are great as it will keep the child entertained and will also bring out their own creative flare!. Magnets and then lovely to use on fridge to hold up paintings and photos. Adult help and assistance will be required when making up the plaster.

I bought this for my younger cousin (9 yrs) and she like it a lot.Nice shape and easy to follow instruction. Just a thing is it's quite easy to get bubbles in between the wet plaster and it'll turn out as holes later when the plaster dried so best to have an adult helping
