im actually doing my review from when i had the game a few years ago and im back to buy it again. The game basically involves building and running a city from scratch and making as good (or as bad) a job as you can.I love all the scenarios on this game and as a proud Liverpudlian i think the 'Liven up Liverpool' is my favorite. The graphics are quite basic even for the time but theyre still detailed and nice even though thats not the point. The gameplay is where its at, build a farm town, i bustling metropolis, or a haven for crime and pollution. Its upto you as your desicions affect how it goes. If youre running low on funds then you can 'sell out' to the toxic waste plant, maximum security prison and others, these are good for the funds but make your sims not too happy. If youre doing well, the sims will reward you with many things but remember, with good things (casino=money) comes bad (crime), so you have to get the balance right. If you have a deficit or abundance of something (power, water, landfill sites), you can make deals with neighbours to buy/sell your services. For example, if you dont want much air pollution, you can send your trash to a neighbour for a price, and vice-versa on power and water as long as there is a physical link to the neighbour, ie power lines, water pipes and road/rail.One of my favorite parts is disasters, you can make the best city ever, and if it seems too perfect, UNLEASH HELL ON IT, you can have fires, locusts (great on farm towns), UFO's, tornados, and, my personal favorite RIOTS!!!The addictiveness of this game is where its at, ive lost many a nights playing this when my plan was "only a hour before bed" so if youre into strategy games budget for a long time as its easy to get lost.If youre into strategy games they you will love this game as much as i do. I love it so much im buying it again.Have fun, and dont lose touch with reality.(PS if youre using a laptop, i will advise buying a mouse)

I think a new-comer to PC games would find this game rather complex. As other reviewers have written, one has to build a city from scratch including all transport networks, public services and utilities. The game allows the player to overwrite a city that they are not happy with and start again.I find this game quite absorbing. I do not have other versions, so do not know what the differences are between this UK Edition and any other edition. The Sim residents do drive on the left-hand side of the road, however the Sports Ground is a baseball diamond and other things are also Americanised. The finances are quite bewildering. Everything has to be paid for out of the City budget, unlike in the UK where some expenditure is paid for by 'the City' and other paid for by the Government. The spending process is more similar to a household budget than a business, as there is no distinction between capital and revenue expenditure. It is only a game (PEGI 3+), rather like a computer version of Monopoly.

This is a really good, and addictive game.Who would have thought you could become addicted to it,but you do.You constantly meet you advisors and are offered deals from different cities. If you make a mistake, petitoners will turn up in your office,if you do something really good, you will be commended by petitioners.Sometimes, they will even give you something for free (like a mayors house, for example). You can check everything with a query tool, which tells you vital information and can even let you change how the building looks. But,READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST.For an older game,it is very complicated (in a good way),and I tried to use it without reading the instrcutions, but it is too hard.TheInstructions come on a disc, but EA games are only too happy to send them to you on paper.Good Gaming, and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!

I discover SimCity few months ago and all game reviews and game plays got me interesting to try one. I wasn't really sure if the game is for me, I like racing games(nfs) and shooting(bf3) but £3 is not much for trying new types of games. When the game arrived I read the system specification and I was hopping that it gone work on Windows 7, I had troubles installing it but finally it turned on. The first video or logo doesn't load on my laptop but the rest of the game works fine. The image doesn't stretch to 1366x768 but then again it is a 13 years old game...Over all I like the game so much that I gone buy newer version soon.P.S.If you gone play SimCity 3000 remember to save the city regularly because after a hour or 2 it may crash...

Sim city 3000 edition is pretty annoying. You are the mayor of a unbuilt town.First you have to put in the essentials such as oil plants and telephone wires. Then you build the houses. while building you pause the simulation. You can zoom in and out and look close at who is living in your town. They you build roads which you don't know where to put them. Then you find you've ran out of money before you have put in parks and things. You have to have police, ambulances and all that stuff in case of an emergency. You can make things happen like a whirlwind or an earthquake. Part way through the game on my computer, it goes all funny so you have to start all over again. It is overall ok.

I have played this game in the past on windows XP, and highly recommend it if you are into playing God!However, I bought this version to play on my Vista machine, and despite trying to run it in compatability mode, it will not run. After reading the forums this appears to be a common problem, with some people loading it successfully, whilst others cannot. So, you will have to decide if you want to chance it.That said, I love this game, although I preferred the previous edition in some respects.

This is by far and away the best of the SC games. Don't bother reading the instructions! Half the fun is figuring out how it all works! In fact, this has to be the best computer game ever made.
