After decorating to make a London Themed room I obviously wanted some models of the historical landmarks that are found in the city. Having previously purchased Ravensburger's Big Ben original version and Tower Bridge ( both highly recommended ) I had some experience of building these models before.I found all of them rather easy to build. Each piece is numbered so on a large table I gathered the pieces up in to groups of 10 ( 1-9, 10-19, 20-29 etc... ) and then began to build in order. The top of the tower has quite small pieces and can be tricky to put together but it is worth the effort and a little patience.For sure the corners can be a little tricky too.I found you often have to bend the piece at a 90 degree angle first and then apply it to what you've built already. Holding in one side as you push the other side in to place. It sounds more complicated than I can explain here but it's not.Once you've assembled it which should take between an hour to an hour and a half depending on your ability. Separating the pieces out in to smaller groups as I mentioned earlier helps cut the time down too as your not looking in a heap of tiny plastic pieces every time.Once you've put the AAA batteries ( not supplied ) in to the light unit and then located in the base you'll notice that the ON/OFF switch is under the model which is a slight draw back as you have to lift the entire model up to turn the light on or off. This cannot detract from how beautiful the model of Big Ben is once completed. There are two lighting modes. One is a constant white light which illuminates the tower as most would see it on their travels to the real landmark. I know, I've been several times.The other lighting mode is one that fades from one colour to the next and looks wonderful.On the whole this is a wonderful model that you can take pride in building yourself and will prove to be a lovely focal point for anyone visiting, just like the real thing. Highly recommended. I just hope Ravensburger bring out more of these wonderful 3D kits in future

I bought this puzzle as a Christmas Present and it was very well received, with the unique 3D structure and lights making it a great gift for someone who enjoys jigsaw puzzles but has been stuck doing jigsaw puzzles in only two dimensions. The puzzle is not the most challenging, but is still a fun build and looks great once it is finished.The pieces are strong, helping to ensure that the final structure is sturdy. If knocked it the puzzle can topple quite easily as its attachment to the base isn't very strong, however when I have knocked it off its stand (from about 1 metre above a wooden floor) the plastic puzzle pieces remained undamaged and the structure was easily put together again.The lights look great (especially in darkness or low light), with two settings where either the colours changing gradually from one to the next (you are not able to control this) or with a single white colour, and the LED's are very bright making the colour of the LED's clear throughout the entire structure (I have provided images of both settings). Once complete the puzzle can work as a unique item of mood lighting using the colour changing LED's.Overall a really good item for anyone who enjoys jigsaw puzzles which is unique, well built and looks good.

This was received as a gift for Christmas. I had great fun assembling it, it is very easy to do (took about an hour and a half) as each piece is numbered but could be assembled without reference to the numbers to make it more challenging. As mentioned in some other reviews, the tower is more tricky to put together but isn't too difficult with a bit of thought and perseverance. Fitting the finished article to the base is fiddly and not very secure and is the only part of the product that I consider is poorly designed but I made some adjustments to make it more stable. Despite this, the overall quality still deserves the five stars. When lit,the effect is charming and very effective in the white light setting but a little gimmicky on the changing colour setting. Planning on using it as an attractive and unusual bedside night light (alright, I am an acknowledged, fully paid up geek) . Overall, an excellent and very satisfying product for geeks and, maybe, non- geeks alike.

This review has two parts...Firstly the puzzle is fantastic, my son (9) really enjoyed building it.He had wanted it for ages and was so pleased with it,hence the five stars.The downside was the packaging......This was a birthday gift,but the puzzle unexpectedly arrived in just clear shrink-wrapping not normal Amazon packaging. Thankfully it arrived when we were all out,so my neighbour took it in and had the sense to bring it around once our kids were in bed, so we were able to hide it. If it had arrived whilst we were in, my son would have see it before his birthday,which would have been annoying. I don't recall seeing any warning at the time of ordering that it would arrive like that.I understand they may be doing it to cut down on packaging and I am all for that, but as Amazon parcels are normally big brown boxes a warning would have been great and I would have made sure I had it delivered to an alternative address!

We have previously made Big Ben and The Leaning Tower of Pisa, and Buckingham Palace is definitely the hardest we have done. The instructions could do with more details. The pieces that bend must be bent to right angles. The ones with "hinges" fold in and the idea is to line up the three bits. I found it worked better if I bent it then sat with it for awhile gentle asserting pressure. The others bend out.It is important to bend the pieces before you place them on the jigsaw. If you try to bend them whilst on the jigsaw they are likely to break and you may knock down what you have already built.We couldn't get it perfect around the base,and the roof is a little "leaky" and the gates are a little wonky (you don't build the gates they could ready made.) But it does look pretty impressive. The attention to detail is good.Overall this is not the easiest out of the 3D range, but it does make an outstanding looking jigsaw.

Bought this jigsaw as my nephew asked for it for Xmas. I obliged as I knew I'd be the one building it as he simply doesn't have the patience!The pieces are made if quite a thick and sturdy plastic which are very durable. Each piece is also numbered on the back to make things easy if you wish. The LED lights within the base are quite bright and illuminate the finished puzzle quite nicely.My only gripes with this is that the 4 little black pieces you place at the base of the puzzle are finicky as hell to place and often fall into the well designed to hold the light box. Would be useful if they attached to the base unit maybe. Also, the whole puzzle didn't take long to complete.Mind you that's not really a fault of this jigsaw haha.I would recommend this product, entertained us for a short period of time on Xmas day. For the extra challenge, complete it without using the numbers.

My son has wanted one of these for awhile. He wanted London bridge, but got this one to start him off, see how he got on. It was smaller and cheaper, for a first go. If u think its made easier, by pieces being numbered, don't worry its still a puzzle, trying to find the right pieces. It fits together brill, very solid. I knocked it on the floor and it still stayed in one piece. Only thing we found is it doesn't fit onto the base very well, but my son didn't mind, as he wanted it to stand on its own, anyway, which it does. The main clock part fits together but then just sits onto the bottom part. Easy enough for a child to do with a little help.

My 8 year old son was able to do this with a little help on the roof part which was tricky to manipulate and it was quite a challenge to his fine motor skills.Whilst it's fun to build it is really just building by numbers and there is no real puzzle or need to figure out where the parts go as each piece has a number and an arrow on the back telling you the order and direction of the next piece.Having said that if you did have to figure it out for yourself it would be a much harder challenge and wouldn't be suitable for a lot of children.Overall the parts fit together nicely and the finished model looks good.

I have the globe jigsaw which my daughter loves to do, so i thought I would get her this for Christmas.As with all of these puzzles, quality is excellent and is a good challenge. You have a cardboard base that you insert 4 clear holding clips. The corners of the tower fold in to make the corner parts. When you get to the clock faces, you have 2 plastic squares that hold the extruded clocks. We found the hardest part was the spire in getting the fold just right to complete it. But it was a great accomplishment when we did.Next time will try to do it without looking at the numbers on the back to match pieces.

The jigsaw was on sale when I ordered. It was a Christmas present for my 7 year old son who is obsessed with all things London.It started off easy to put together until we got to the bit above the clock. The instructions weren't very clear but we figured it out eventually.The pieces are numbered which is great. He was really good at finding them and lining them up. He bent the corners but i put it together as it didnt feel very sturdy.It's quite wobbly but we are going to put it on a shelf.Either way, he is pleased with it. It's his birthday in February so I'll definitely be buying another 3D puzzle.

I bought this 3D Jigsaw Puzzle for my little cousin, she loved it!She had so much fun building it, I must say it isn't so difficult to build because is really just building by numbers and there is no real puzzle or need to figure out where the parts go. I could be better if you have to figure out on your own where each part goes, it can be more enjoyable also for the adults and the building time will be longer.Anyhow, the quality is excellent, there is a cardboard base with four holding clips where you can solid fix the puzzle.It is very nice, fun for each child!

I bought this puzzle for my daughter for Xmas. The age guide is from 10 years + which is right as the puzzle is a bit fiddly for younger ones. The puzzle pieces are numbered which makes it straghtforward to complete, but a bit mechanical. Not like doing a jigsaw where you focus on the front of the puzzle pieces. The main body was straight forward to do, but the top was a bit fiddly. but the pieces are sturdy. overall, a good purchase, entertaiend us for a couple of hours and unlike a jigsaw, you don't need to break it once it has been completed.

We've now bought 3 of these Ravensburger 3d puzzles. We were all unwell over Christmas and this was a great way to spend an hour. My 10 year old son and 6 year old daughter both did it together with a little help from me to begin with, only to group the pieces together eg 1-100 we put in a pile and then started connecting them from there. The base seemed a little unsecure at first but when built is fine. Although not sure if we want to dismantle them now so may just be something you do one off!

Bought for my 10 year old daughter, she loves it and putting it together. I guess it took her a couple of hours.The puzzle when up looks really good too although I'd say be prepared for how big it is. The measurements on Amazon don;t make much sense and I'd suggest this is about 30cm high and 90cm long when complete so really it needs dismantling quite soon after it has been put up.A good 3D puzzle though. I'll probably buy more 3D puzzles for her from the range.

My 9 yr old niece requested this as a gift. It arrived in good time and was well packaged. It was opened on Christmas day and to some extent would seem easy given the jigsaw pieces are numbered. The top bit however, wasn't - the 9 yr old became bored but it kep middle aged aunt and grandad quiet for an hour as we figured out the top of big ben, not easy to join together. Looked good when finished, but suspect it will need adult help at some stage for those under 10.
