Review updated as I can only submit one despite having bought several different puzzles under the same item.----------------------IN GENERALThese Clementoni puzzles are really good quality - the backing board doesn't bend easily, and the image is well bonded to the backing. Pieces only truly fit in the correct location, although I did have a few which required a close look to determine if I had them in the right place. The surface has a linen effect with a bit of a sheen. The printing is very good quality, and the box images really help complete the puzzle. The box is true to the puzzle colours and detailed enough to be able to match up the painting. The surface didn't cause any problems with the lighter areas of paintings, but I did struggle a bit with lighting for the darker areas. I found it best in natural, indirect light, which really helped see the subtle variation of tones. Artificial light over the area I was working on the puzzle made large areas appear fairly flat black which made them more challenging.----------------------MONA LISAWhat I realised as I was completing this puzzle is that there is barely a line in the whole painting. It truly is a masterpiece of shades and tones, some of which are very subtle and need a good eye to spot. I got about 80% completed before I really started to struggle with placing pieces in the darker areas of the hair and robes. At that point I had to start just trying all the possible pieces in a space until I hit on the right one - I was getting a bit bored of it at that point. However, once I had reduced the number of available pieces down to about 100 it became much simpler again to complete. This is definitely a challenging puzzle, and (for me at least) not one that you can expect to complete in just a few hours. However, incredibly satisfying to fit the final piece. It's also much easier to break apart to pack away than some others I've done.----------------------MICHELANGELO - LAST JUDGEMENT (UNIVERSAL JUSTICE)On taking this puzzle out of the box it was clear that it was going to be a challenge as there is an awful lot of sky and skin-tones and not much other colour to differentiate pieces. However, the box image came to the rescue in working out the location of individual characters. I also found it helpful to read the Wikipedia entry on the painting as I could understand more about what was happening in each section. From there it's (just) a matter of patiently working through all the pieces and marveling at the detail and content - it's not really surprising it took Michelangelo 8 years to paint this wall of the Sistine Chapel.----------------------

The quality is high and the final product is very beautiful. I found Clementoni puzzles are really great. I have bought 4 of them and finished assembling two of them. Both came out great.I think it is fair to say, however, that this type of puzzle might not be for everyone. Other puzzles I purchased before came with pieces with varying sizes and shapes so much so that you can assemble them without studying the final pictures too much. Clementoni puzzles are not like that. The pieces could look similar with similar size. The variations are mostly whether the piece has two bulbs or three, or it has bigger (or square looking) bulb or smaller etc. Still they do not come together perfectly unless you put the right pieces together.Personally, I always need to study the pictures to locate most of the pieces - and that's the best part of this puzzle because I have been staring at this beautiful painting of Renoir while I was studying the pieces and the puzzle! If the purpose of doing puzzles is to have fun without too much sweat, this puzzle is probably not for you. If you are a puzzle-mania, do not mind spending days to put the pieces together, and love challenges, however, then this puzzle is for you!

Having completed over 5 Clementoni 1000 piece puzzles, I am a huge fan of their quality and workmanship. Unlike many other brands of puzzles, Clementoni puzzles do not fade with exposure to sunlight and the colors themselves are very vibrant. This Renior painting--like most Impressionist puzzles--is exceptionally difficult because the colors have no distinct edges and blur into one another. Even the simplest of tasks like assembling the border can take longer than it should on other puzzles due to the Impressionist brushstrokes. That's part of the fun! A 1000 piece Impressionist puzzle can be exceedingly difficult, so don't jump in without determination, but after days (or weeks) of patience and puzzling, your hard work will pay off. This Renior painting is simply beautiful, and the completed puzzle reflects the lively scene that Renoir intended to capture. If you're up for a challenge, this is definitely the jigsaw puzzle to buy!Note: Although some of the pieces are not cut entirely apart, as another reviewer noted, this is easily remedied by pulling them apart gently and noting where the cut was supposed to. Or, you can cheat like me and use these two pieces as part of the puzzle already.

Let me begin by saying that as a first jigsaw puzzle, I made a mistake in buying this product. The image is VERY subtle, with large dark areas especially in the hair and dress where there are no obvious "landmarks" to spot in the jumble of pieces. But I discovered there's a real kick to be had from the progress made in solving a difficult jigsaw.I had no real jigsaw skills to begin with, and so I spent many hours simply staring at the pieces after assembling the border. I gradually started to separate the pieces out into colours and shapes, and then began to make real progress. At times, I was being guided by the blemishes and craquelure in the painting's varnish! Luckily, the pieces are cut on a regular grid, and therefore there are only the 6 traditional piece types (4 blanks to 4 tabs). Having a second board for the pieces to be laid and grouped was a real boon, and thoroughly recommended.Overall, this puzzle took me an estimated 50 hours over a few weeks, so you'll need a dedicated space. The finished puzzle has been "fixed", framed and hung on the wall as a testament to a real achievement.

The limited color palette and abstract (impressionist!) style create a challenge for the puzzler. The few shades of color match so many areas of the puzzle when you are looking at a single puzzle piece. The cobblestone street was the last area to be filled in, as individual puzzle pieces just look like scribbles of random colors in the painting. Look very closely to fit the piece! This puzzle will try your patience.I gave this puzzle only 4 stars for a couple technical issues:First, the shape of the puzzle pieces themselves. Compared to other puzzles I've done recently, some of the pieces were more like nubs and slots, where you could horizontally slide them in and out of position, instead of truly interlocking pieces that hold in place better.Second, are few of the pieces are so similarly shaped they could easily be put in the wrong place. With the limited color palette, that makes this more of a problem.

This is the first Clementoni puzzle I put together and I think it's one of the highest quality brands so far. Someone else mentioned that there are different brands with this same picture - but the Clementoni one is beautiful since it has just the right amount of color. It's not too dull and not too vibrant. I can't compare it to the other brands since I didn't build those but the Clementoni version did not disappoint me.Very little puzzle dust - but that never really bothers me anyway. The puzzle pieces are thick and none were tearing apart. The puzzle was a bit easy since it's only 1000 pieces but that's just to give others a heads up.Will definitely purchase more Clementoni puzzles - and thebox states it's made in Italy.Box came shrink wrapped so definitely brand new.Third party seller was Econea and was a fair price of about $20 and free prime shipping. Will buy from again.

I would do this brand (Clementoni) again. We usually do Ravensburger, but found this was also well made (no fraying cardboard), well fitting (didn't run into pieces that fit into more than one spot), aesthetically pleasing ( I don't like boring/childish puzzles or ones that use tacky unskilled stock photos... and was running out of Ravensburger puzzles that weren't obnoxious), and didn't have large fields of monotonous solid color--which my husband hates. School of Athen's does have a lot of white walls, but the texture and shading varies enough that it wasn't that bad at all. Satisfied with my first Clementoni experience, and happy with the Artwork.I do wish I'd reviewed this months ago when we did it and it was fresh in my mind--right now I can't remember if the puzzle piece quality ranks specifically higher or lower than Ravensburger, but I do recall that I was pleased.

This puzzle was beautiful when finished and I have always appreciated Van Gogh's work, so I loved it. It's a beautiful painting. However, the puzzle was tedious to put together because there are sooo many huge areas that are similar/the same color. It kind of made it less fun, to be honest. Instead of enjoying the ongoing assembly of the puzzle, I was focused on trying to fit many of the same colored pieces in a spot. If you buy it, I recommend start with the outside edge (of course), then the blue/gray door, then top of the building w/windows, sky, dark buildings with evergreens, yellow part of the building and save the cobblestones for last. (The cobblestones are the part that will really drive you crazy! So having fewer pieces to pore through when you get to the cobblestone. Although the yellow part was fairly tedious, too.)

I got this for myself as a birthday treat. I had another Clementoni puzzle, and loved it (Botticelli/Birth of Venus). By comparison, this puzzle, while the box is labeled Clementoni, reminds me of Piatnik manufacture. The die-cutting is sometimes a bit sloppy: good pieces but with bits of the backing paper hanging where it should be cut out. These pieces also seem to be more easy to de-laminate when separating a 'doesn't quite fit' combination. It's lovely, but somehow not up to the Clementoni standard to which I had become accustomed. And I would rate it at the difficult/expert level. I'm working on it now, I'm experienced, and I expect it to take a week to 10 days to construct.

I bought this puzzle for the image, and I wasn't disappointed. It looks great. There's a nice variety of colors and textures, and I was hooked for the day or so it took me to put it together. I bought it new, and all pieces were included.Pieces are not as sturdy as those in other puzzles, such as those by Ravensburger, though they are still quite nice. However, the image had peeled off one piece, and the undersides were slightly torn on two or three others. This was all easily fixed with dabs of Elmer's glue and didn't bother me at all, though it is worth mentioning. The pieces interlock nicely and the whole puzzle rests flat and even when finished. Recommended.

Really cute puzzle.I love doing puzzles and after my last one that existed mainly of similar looking pieces I though I go for something with a bit more colour. It definitely takes a while as well but it is manageable as there are many different colours that make it a bit easier to put it together. If you are looking for something super challenging this won't be it - having said that, because it consist of 1000 pieces and has similar blue and dark shades in it, it still keeps your brain working, and isn't super easy.Really enjoyed the puzzle.Good quality, nice image! Definitely a must buy for puzzle and Disney fans :)

A very challenging jigsaw puzzle! You have to match swirl patterns in the waves and various shades of sky and sails. It also helps to understand a bit about how the masts and rigging are set up. I'd just finished building a model of "Old Ironsides", so I was pretty familiar with ship's rigging. The Amerigo Vespucci is an actual ship, which we've seen both moored in Boston Harbor and under sail. The painting of the ship is quite accurate, and attractive enough that I plan to hang the finished puzzle in our family room. I use the 12-sheet "Peel and Stick" puzzle saver pack to hold the finished puzzle together securely.

Unlike other jigsaws I have bought there was no actual size print of the picture nor are there letters on the back to help you so it has been really difficult to get going. Some jigsaw enthusiasts may enjoy the challenge but I am a bit of a novice and enjoy being able to actually find pieces and start to put the picture together using the large picture to help me. This has therefore been more challenging than I was expecting and, at the moment, not particularly rewarding. The quality is not as good as other jigsaws but I guess that has been reflected in the price. It’s a shame as it is a truly wonderful painting.

Perhaps I should say 'days' of fun! If I remember correctly this puzzle of 1000 pieces was classified as 'medium' in terms of difficulty. I'm not an expert and haven't in fact done a jigsaw in years but I bought it as an extra present for the family at Christmas. We all spent hours on it over several days (so it needs its own table) and I was astonished at how much the kids (21 and 24 years) absolutely adored it. It was a real pleasure to be forced to study this well known piece of art in minute detail and amazing to see the kids not glued to their phones!

This is another puzzle that looks better when completed than as it is depicted on the box cover. I got to see the original in the Louvre in Paris and if I recall correctly, Napoleon is life sized which should give you an idea of the scale of this painting. One tip: position your laptop or iPad next to where you are working with the clearest picture of the original that you can find on the Web. Zooming in on your computerized picture will aid you greatly in completing the mass of tiny details as well as those soaring marble columns in the background.
