It’s been about 10 years since I last played Pop Up Pirate but it’s a great game to introduce to my son even though he’s a bit younger than the intended age range. There are not many pieces in the box – the barrel, Olaf and 4 sets of pegs which you can put the set of stickers on. It says to put them on each side but I only got 1 set of stickers which only did 1 side of each. Each player begins with their 6 coloured pegs and after pressing Olaf down in the centre, take turns to put a peg into the barrel and one will set it off so he pops up and out of the barrel. The great thing about this is the game doesn’t take batteries and by turning the post in the centre, should change the position of the peg that sets the game off although I didn’t find this was always the case – quite often it was the same one but hopefully the eagle eyed players wouldn’t notice. It’s a really simple game and has the recognisable Olaf which my son kept hugging after he popped up. At £14.99 (Amazon’s current price), I feel it’s overpriced with the original Pop Up Pirate being £9.99 – you’re paying for it being Disney/Frozen branded. Whether or not this will hold his interest for long I’m not sure but so far it has been a great way to get him to understand taking turns.

Pop Up Pirate is a classic game that loads of kids have played, you place the pirate in the top of a plastic barrel and then stab said barrel over and over again with tiny plastic swords until finally he has had enough and jumps out. Tomy's 'Pop Up Olaf' is the identical game but with Frozen livery. Instead of a pirate you have a nicely formed plastic version of Olaf. Instead of swords, you have sword like things that represent Olaf's naughty little snowball friends. The game works as well now as it ever did. Having to remove all the plastic from the sheets and stick the stickers is a little annoying, but once that is done the game is ready to play forever. You are paying a slight premium for the Olaf element, but it still a well-priced game. Fans of Frozen will get an extra kick out of the design and non-fans can still just enjoy a solid family game.

Exactly like the classic pop up pirate - it's a Christmas present for a 2yr old so hasn't been gifted yet but sure it will be loved. I checked all the bits worked and Olaf pops up like he should - all good. Only thing I would say is the keys (swords) are on a plastic grid and need to be twisted off before you can use them and there is also multiple sticker sheets with the different coloured snowflakes on them that need to be placed on either side of the keys where you'd hold them. Bit time consuming especially if its for little children that will be itching to play with it so maybe do what I did and twist off the keys and place the stickers on them before giving it as a present, that way they can play straight away!

This fun, Frozen-inspired Pop-Up Olaf game is a great present for all Frozen fans this Christmas, and with Frozen 2 having just been released, I can see this being really popular! As a fun take on the classic Pop-Up Pirate game I remember so fondly from my own youth, in this version it is Olaf that will pop up when the snowman sticks are inserted in the barrel. Suitable for 2-4 players, the game reinforces the idea of turn-taking and who doesn’t love that element of anticipation and surprise when the character does pop up?!As you would expect from TOMY, the product is also very well made from robust materials, ensuring many hours of play ahead.A great game that all the family can get involved with!

Everyone knows and loves popup pirate. This is literally the same game but with Olaf in its place (and twice the price!). However, if your little ones are Frozen mad – and lets face it, who isn’t? – then this game will go down a treat. We’ve had hours of fun poking away at poor old Olaf and needless to say we’ll have lots more. There are four types coloured swords suggesting 4 players, but we just pool them all and pick at random. There’s not much more to say other than you’re paying extra for the Disney/Frozen tie in. if you’re OK with this, as was I, then buy it. Its great fun.

Bought as a gift for our three year old. She loves it and I prefer this design to the original pop up pirate. Obviously the concept is simple so it’s quick and easy to play with young children. Easy enough for her little hands to push in the pieces. It lasts a couple of rounds then we move onto a different game though so the only drawback would be that it doesn’t last long. Have purchased it as a gift for other children after playing it at home. Wanted to buy it previously but it sells out.

Pretty good for its price, i'll dumb it down in pros v cons;Pros:- Very simple to set up- easy to put away- does not take up a lot of storage- keeps kids entertained (if someone plays it with them)- no mess involvedCons:- Tedious to put the stickers on each prong- Tedious to take each prong off the plastic frame- Could potentially lose the prongs- Prongs sometimes do not register the popping of OlafOverall it is a pretty decent toy to buy.

This is a Frozen themed game, reminding me of “Pop Up Pirate,” but with Olaf in the barrel. The game is suitable for ages 4+ and for 2-4 players. You have four different coloured ice sticks which you can click into the barrel. Eventually, one will cause Olaf to Pop Up, with a satisfying, surprising jump.A good, family game, which older children can play with younger ones. Sure to appeal to children, with the latest Frozen movie coming out this winter.

Lots of family fun and a very simple game to play so easy even for little ones to play along. Obviously based on the classic Pop Up Pirate game but this time with Olaf and a Frozen theme in time for the new Frozen II film due out soon.My Children love games and especially ones that the family can play together and as they have a Pop Up Pirate game they already knew how to play this.Lots of fun and very easy to play.

A great twist on a Tomy classic! A really cool modernisation and pop culturisation of one of my favourite games from my childhood.I really enjoyed the change of colour pallete and the olaf figurine is really nicely molded with great finishing and attention to detail.Works as you would expect - if you've played the game before.A great way to bring this game to a new generation!

Great fun. Not really a board game. If you've played pop-up Pirate, you'll know the format here. The keys to go in the barrel are brightly coloured and large, so should avoid any issues if playing with younger ones. Olaf is quite difficult to actually "seat" properly so he pops up, and the grown-ups had to help here. All in all good fun and on-trend with the Frozen brand obviously.

Is to be given as a christmas gift so hasn't been played with yet but i have tried it and i know it will go down well with my daughter.Bought when it was a lightening deal so for the price it is fab. Although i would probably order it at full price as there is little difference between the price of this and original pop up pirate.

It's the same as pop up pirate but Frozen themed. The box is massive for the game itself so everything rattles around inside. It gets 4 stars for playability but I would recommend just getting your kids pop up pirate. My two loved Frozen for a few months and now won't play it as they said they don't like it any more.

A 'Frozen' themed pop up pirate game. My granddaughter loves this. We play it either with two or three people normally and it is a quick and easy game that everyone can quickly learn how to play. I like the fact that the very young can play it with the older ones and still all have fun.Highly recommended

Purchased for the little one (3y girl) and she loves it, but she loves anything frozen. From a game perspective, it's a good ten minute to play game, only criticism is that olaf sometimes doesn't pop up even when all keys are in the barrel. Not sure if that's the same with the pirate version.
