Firstly this is a very good lens it takes beautiful photos and video, the construction is very good and the splash and dust proofing is a bonus. The only downside to this lens is the manual focus ring, it is almost unusable because it is very stiff to turn and seems to stagger on the visual graph making it really difficult to get it right. Other buyers of this lens have complained of the same issue, although they all think its a great lens otherwise. I am new to photography and as such a bit of a novice, my main interest is Wildlife photography and this lens is superb for this. Great for when you have to keep your distance, the zoom is a dream and captures great quality shots and the video is fantastic.I have two other Lumix lenses the 25mm and the 45-150 both these lenses have manual focus rings that turn perfectly, and are much easier to manually focus with. That's my only gripe the manual focus ring on this lens is too stiff the lens is fantastic otherwise, I recommend this lens to folks into Wildlife photography and video, you will not get much better at this price range. Any recommendations from you (Panasonic) to help sought out the manual focus ring stiffness would be really appreciated because I use this lens a great deal.

I have wanted to try bird photography for a while, and wanted to get a lens that had enough range but was not too heavy or too expensive. The 100-300 version ii offered dual stabilization and a reasonable price with acceptable image quality. This lens is not as spectacular as the 100-400, but it was only about 1/3 the cost (i got a used copy), so it fit the bill. It is a great tool within its limits, but is allowing me to improve my technique and still get some great shots I never could with a shorter range lens. This lens fits well in my bike bag and in a sling bag, and with my GX85 gives me a very light and portable tool for learning to capture images of local birds and wildlife.

I had version mark1 of this lens and was pretty happy with it but i had been tempted for a long time to update to the mark2 and would the extra outlay see improvement on my currrent system. Simple answear is a big yes, bear in mind my photography is 99% birds and wildlife the stated improved autofocus is much faster and accurate as for the improved stabilization another big yes! Much much better when fully zoomed to the 300mm which is 600mm with the crop factor on my pano G80 which i also purchased from Very.co.uk on 12months interest free so cant go wrong simply great.

Love this little lens. I had the big Tamron and I could no long handheld it on my dslr. Switched to mirrorless and bought this lens for my wildlife shots. Now I want the 100-400. Can never be too long but this is so handy I hesitate to go bigger. Can't wait til spring to capture the song birds. My husband has the Olympus 75-300 . I prefer the weight on the panny better as it a smidge heavier for more stability and a stop better and splashproof. I shoot with Olympus EM 1 Markii.

The rubber ring is like glue to dust. All the fun I've had! I must do a comparison with the OLY 75-300 now.
