In the end I decided not to keep this lens, but I gave it a good test first. I returned it mainly because the zoom control was far too stiff, jerky and short travel to use during video. A dealbreaker for me. I didn't expect it to be silky smooth like on my Olympus 12–40 f2.8 lens (that cost three times what this costs). But I expected it to be usable during video and it wasn't. Perhaps I expected too much.Otherwise, this lens is good for the price. It can be very sharp, but only at certain focal lengths and apertures. Reviews say it is sharpest at 35mm and f8, and I agree with that – it's really sharp, corner to corner at 35mm and f8. But that's a focal length my 12–40 covers,so I was more interested in performance at longer focal lengths. And it's mostly fine, but gets a bit soft the more you zoom and if you use it wide open. I found it a bit variable. I also found contrast a bit of an issue at longer focal lengths, needing some fixing in Photoshop. Out of focus areas mostly look pretty nice, but i noticed some odd effects where there was haze – a sort of weird fuzziness instead of smooth blur. But it's decent enough for the price. It focuses nice and close and overall takes some very nice photos.Build quality is light but very nice. You even get a lens hood, but it's really fiddly to put on for some reason. It really is remarkably compact though and looked like a little prime mounted on my Olympus E-M5 Mk II. The compactness is partly because you have to extend the lens to use it and the error message I kept getting on screen about forgetting to do this was annoying but mostly my fault. Because I have stabilisation built into my Olympus camera, I didn't try the lens's own stabilisation but would expect it to be good.My problem is I'm spoiled by the amazing Olympus 12–40 lens. I reckon if you have a typical kit lens, you find this at least as good if not better than that. I just wanted a casual telephoto zoom on the cheap. But there's no going back from real quality, so beware.

Prior to purchasing this lens I could only find a handful of owner reviews - so I though I ought to add my own after purchasing it. I bought the 35-100mm to complement the 12-32mm zoom on the Panasonic Lumix GM1. Together, with a fast 17mm or 20mm prime, they make a highly capable, compact, lightweight and unobtrusive travel kit.I have been very impressed by its optical performance. The uploaded photos show shots of a tulip at 80mm, cherry blossom at 35mm and 100mm and a Siamese cat at 56mm.To see some of these photos (and others taken with this lens) in full resolution then go to https://www.flickr.com/photos/deltasigma/The lens does a great job.

For the money and small lightweight factor of this lens, I think it's great value. It's as sharp as a standard kit lens, but not as contrasty or pin sharp as the more expensive 40-150 f/2.8.I've owned loads of M43 lenses, and whilst this isn't one of the best, it's by no means one of the worst. It is so light it's barely noticeable in my bag.Minus one for the silly 'locking' lens mechanism (similar to the 9-18mm) as it catches me out all the time, giving you a blank screen with 'lens is locked' message.

Only had the lens for a couple of days but initial impressions are very favourable. Bought it for my GM1 to accompany the standard wide angle lens that came with the camera. Wanted zoom capability so after reading other reviews and talking to a camera buff I took the plunge. I am not disappointed! Shots are crisp and clear and the defocussed background capability really makes a difference to the picture quality. I would highly recommend this item.

Light but solid construction. Smooth manual focus. Images look very good. TBH - bought this for my daughter for Photography class. Complements the 12-32mm rather nicely. Makes for a nice kit. Very pleased with this lens. BTW - 12-32mm beats the 14mm prime IMHO. Back to the 35-100. Compact and a great performer. I may get one for myself. Loving the new Panasonic lenses. This sits nicely on a GX7 or GX1.Recommended.

Unbelievably small and light yet features first-rate optics at a reasonable price. A perfect match for my GM1 (or a GM5), and am easily able to carry additional two lenses without feeling annoyed by much extra weight. Screw-on UV filter is an essential add-on in case of accidental fingerprints on the front.

Amazing little lens. All the attributes you would expect from a micro four thirds lens. Fits my Olympus well but not as “pretty” as an Olympus lens. Pictures are good not quite as good as a “real” 70-200 but very good and so light to cary around. I use this lens a lot because it’s so easy to use.

I bought this lens to compliment my 12 to 32 zoom and it is a very good little lens. Sharp and lightweight. It fits in with my 17mm f1.8 and 45mm f1.8 primes to give me everything I require for my photograpic work. The price is right too!

A great lens to complement my existing 12-32mm that came with my Lumix GM1. Although twice the length of that lens, it's still small enough for the camera to slip into a pocket with the lens attached. Even comes with a lens hood too!

Superb lens. Perfect size for the Panasonic GM1. Excellent handling and image quality, fast, quiet focussing. If you need a telephoto zoom to make up a dinky szed micro 4/3 outfit - go for it!

Lovely little lens and lightweight, takes very good pics, I got it to complete a small travel camera Panasonic GM1 with the 12-35 lens and now have an awesome kit which lives in my bag.

Lovely little lens with great image quality. Would be 5* if the max aperture was a little faster - but then it wouldn't be little any more

beats the f/2.8 version over all when stopped down a bit , light weight and compact
