Bought this so that I could try my hand at macro photography. I was not dissappointed. These images are my first attempt at macro on my Panasonic G9 and I am well-pleased with the results. Macro photography requires care, particularly with precise focusing (I used auto pinpoint focus), depth of field, and subject movement/camera shake - happily, the Panasonic G9 and this 30mm macro lens both have image stabilsation. The lens is reasonably compact and light and won't take up much room in your camera bag, or even your pocket. The front lens element is not very recessed and I have a 46mm Hoya UV filter attached to protect it. This does not seem to compromise sharpness. The bonus is that this lens doubles as a very nice, sharp, slightly-longer, stardard lens (60mm compared with usual 50mm).Recommended.

This is a very nice lens, which is beautifully constructed and has a very smooth focus ring. More importantly this lens takes stunning images of superb quality and it really can produce true 1:1 macro shots. The downside for me however is that the autofocus on this lens is at times good and other times below average as I find it hunts continually for focus, particularly in low light although it is pretty good in daylight but in low situations it suffers in low light with both my mirrorless cameras, the Lumix GX7 and Olympus E-M1.So for this reason I have to knock off a star because and while its capable of taking great images, its autofocus issues stop it from earning a five star rating.

I used to have a canon 100mm macro and the picture quality was stunning. Very big and heavy though so traded it all for a second-hand Lumix G and bought this 30mm macro (60mm in 35mm terms). Very small and very light. So far it has taken some lovely pictures. I tend to use a tripod and remote with it and manual focus although the auto-focus seems fine. The closest you can get is 10cm so quite close. If you have it very close with a low F setting (F2.8) then the depth of field is very small so I need to always check I have got it set just right. Overall a very nice lens for the money.

This is a great lens. I am mostly using it at the moment for my work capturing/archiving 35mm slides and negatives, and what an improvement it has made to my results. My copies have much more colour and contrast and need very little post production work. I haven't used it much for general photography yet but may even use it as my standard prime lens. It is very small and compact. Autofocus is great and locks on to slides and negatives instantly, with perfect results.

There are 3 macro lenses for the micro 4/3 system, and this is the shortest in focal length, (giving a 60mm equiv). The lens gives excellent image quality. The focal length allows the lens to double up as a straight f2.8 prime for say, street scenes, or portraiture. The example photo was shot using only a desk lamp for lighting, ISO 400, f14, 1/6, and using the self timer to avoid camera shake.

This was a gift for my son to go on his Lumix G3 camera. The review is what he found to be good about the lens.Very impressed with how close you can get and stay in focus. Not blurry even when holding the camera by hand without any stabilisation.Suitable for general non macro photographs which saves changing lenses frequently. There is no zoom but you don't really need it.

This lovely little lens is very small very light and pin sharp! At the 35mm equivalent of 60mm it makes an excellent standard prime lens with the benefit of ful 1.1 macro capability! It works well on my LUMIX G6 and would thoroughly recommend it!

Fantastic quality. Beautiful results with amazing detail and clarity. Usual shallow depth of field at close distances. Hand holding needs careful positioning and a steady hand. Top class lens.
