I have owned larger, 40 litre similarly fastened (PVC) bags, for sailing kit. But my requirement for this Overboard 5 ltr bag was very different. The bag arrives in a hermetically sealed bag, and so requires a while to take up its correct shape. It has - inside - a silver coloured/lined base for added protection. Once I'd figured out how exactly to position the top fastening, four(4) rolls of the sealing top became a cinch and easy to achieve. The bag's snap clips (which make its handle when fastened) are substantial and look to last for ages.Don't expect this bag to be HUGE 'cos it aint! ... My reason for ordering it.Nevertheless, once this bags'material warmed up I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only would it carry my personal 'meds' but there was also room for a tightly rolled pair of Henri Lloyd TP2 waterproof waist trousers, along with a pouched multitool knife, my camera, a pair of [small] binoculars, a 'phone and sunglasses ... with a bit of room to spare. The wide black, (stout tape), adjustable carrying handle, which has plastic/stainless steel snap hook at each of its ends, clips nicely, neatly into a 'D' ring in the sealed, rolled, top end, and to a similar 'D' ring attached to the bag's base (sealed with the same, silver material as described above). The bag , when slung across one's shoulders, does have a tendency to 'roll around' from back to front ... which can be disconcerting when riding a bike! But this 'rolling' can be alleviated by using the very cool looking, stong, neat purple anodised carbine hook (supplied with each Overboard product), as a clip to the waist. On first use, out on the water, a wet rainy day in a fast RIB, the bag was accidentally dropped in the drink!I'm pleased to report that the bag floated on the surface and all its contents remained bone dry ...I recommend this product, and can only say to other reviewers, and potential purchasers that it takes a bit of practice to get the top sealing strip tight ... like most waterproofing, it's an easily acquired knack!Tip: Leave sufficient air space for buoyancy!

I would give this bag 10 stars if I could .First advice take as little valuables as possible on holiday if ur afraid of getting them wetWe Went to a beach holiday in mallorca and bought this bag to keep things dry. left expensive smartphones at home watch jewellery everything we didnt need left at home .our valuables were 1 nokia phone passports cash and other stuff i cannot remember. Most expensive thing was digital camera which we had to take and couldnt leave back. so that was our concernPut all our valuables in little plastic bags( the seal-able kind u get at airports for liquids/ or at supermarkets)put all our items in 3 little plastic bags (one inside the other).OH yeah DONT FORGET A SILICA GEL SACHET NEXT TO YOUR CAMERA/any other valuables BECAUSE IF IT SATURATES WITH MOISTURE COS OF HEAT IT CAN GET DAMAGED.Then put these in a the overboard bag and swam at the beach for 3 days . Make sure u seal it right and make sure you just put a towel on top /around your valuables just in case. These are just the precautions I took and came back with all my belongings safe.Regardless of the plastic bags etc the insides stay completely dry . The bag floats with you as you swim . doesnt matter deep or shallow water as long as its floating which it will if sealed properly .The precautions are necessary because after swimming when you open the bag then water can go in while opening. But if you follow all these precautions ur stuff will stay safe.Plastic bags with silica next to electronics covered with a cloth or towel near the mouth of the bag and awesome.Size of the bag . will fit all your valuables a tshirt and one towel(normal size). Its good to not stuff it too much because you need to leave room for some air which will keep it afloat. So make sure you leave about 40% room for air .

I bought this bag for a canoe/kayak trip with my friends on the lake to do some primitive camping. Where after on shore we didn't have to go very far with our stuff. The 40L bag was big enough for all my camping stuff, plus a change of clothes, and shoes. The handles on the the bag feel good and sturdy. I was happy that they included the strap for the bag that anchor at the top and bottom of the bag, it makes it handy carrying it around short to medium distances. The material on the bag itself feels good and thick. I was worried about puncturing it with a knife or a aluminum stake I had for camping but it held up just fine. All my gear kept dry despite going into the water at shore,I did not submerge the bag as I did not want to tempt fate with some of my more expensive stuff in there, still I felt confident it would have been fine for a short dunk under water. I did feel like the plastic buckle at the top was a little weak, and although I was tempted to grab the bag by it repeatedly I had to kind of will myself to use the carry handle.I would definitely evaluate the size of bag you need before purchasing. The 40L bag I got because I needed something to hold my: Hammock, tarp, ground stakes, cordage, knives, food, canteens, bug spray, fire starting materials, snacks, shirt/pants/shoes/socks, poncho, camera, and some other goodies. Sorry for the laundry list but this bag really does hold a great bit of stuff. Keep in mind the bag only rolls down so far, so if you do not have a lot of items to place into the bag then go smaller. Also, the dimensions of this are large so you need to have a good place to put it.

This summer I went to my first summer festival. Given my experience of British summer weather, I realised that there was every chance that I was going to be soaked whilst I was away. Now this wouldn't bother me, only since I was flying into the British mainland to get to the festival, I would be carrying a number of documents that I just couldn't afford to water damaged. I started thinking how I could manage to keep any travel documents dry in the event of a downpour. I did some research and eventually came across this product and it was a life saver. At 5 litres it was just the right size for my passport/train tickets/travel documents as well as my phone/MP3 player/camera and a couple of books. It was kind of like the tardis, it holds more than you think it will! The attachable strap that it comes with is great and you can throw it on and get going without feeling weighed down. A few days in, lo and behold, there was a downpour of incredible proportions. I was soaked through in no time. When things were drying off, I took the opportunity to see whether the bag had lived up to its name and kept things dry. Everything was bone dry and in perfect condition.I would happily recommend this to anyone who is going out and about in the great outdoors and needs to keep things dry. I will be taking this to the beach, any future festivals or any treks that I'll be taking in future. Such a worthwhile buy, love it!

A 40LTR waterproof bag. That's what I ordered and thats what I got :-)Its a bag with an opening at the top. When rolled down and clipped together the bag is closed and that's what makes it waterproof.Oh, did I mention that its red? Well not entirely because it has silver writing on the side and a silver bottom. The writing says "OverBoard", which is lucky because that's the same as the people who made the bag. Anyway, if you order the red one then yours will be red too! If you order a different colour then yours will probably not be red but will still be a bag and will still be waterproof... as long as you remember to roll down the top and close the opening in it.I almost forgot, it also holds 40LTRS.Well, at least I think it probably does. I haven't filled it up with water and measured it because putting water in a water proof bag would be silly. But it really does look like it will hold 40LTRS. If you order a red bag I'm sure yours will hold 40LTRS too. I obviously cant vouch for the other colours though they will probably also hold almost the same. The clips on top are made of plastic and they fit together quite well. Which is good, because if they didnt then the opening in the water proof bag wouldn't stay shut and then the bag would not be waterproof.Seriously now... If you're in the market for this type of bag then you wont be disappointed. I'm not.Enjoy!

I've yet to put this bag in the elements to test it out. However, it packs my sleeping bag, Marmot Trestles 15, Tall, very well. The construction is solid, sturdy, well designed, and well engineered, impressive. I am very happy with my purchase, and anticipate that it will hold up to thunderstorms, as the waterproof rating suggests. The seams are constructed well, and look very durable. It's a thick bag, very solid, abrasion resistant, and appears extremely durable. Easily totable, there's a handle, once the top has been rolled down. The rolled down top snaps close, creating another handle sturdy enough to easily support the weight of the sleeping bag. And there's a shoulder strap included,as well. Packed, it stands upright.Ordered in black, the grey is a very nice accent. Having a bag that looks good, it's very aesthetically pleasing, superb design, performs well, is engineered well, functional, and perfectly suited for one's needs is a bonus! Form & function both win on this account. I am confident that the OverBoard Waterproof Dry Tube Bag will hold up to the extreme rain, and harsh conditions that it will find itself in, and my sleeping bag will remain dry, and insulating. If you need a stand alone waterproof dry bag, this is it!

I bought this dry bag for an upcoming backpacking/camping trip. I was planning on using it for phones, passports, tickets, chargers etc - things that don't mix very well with water.I thought a 5L capacity would be just about able to accomodate these items, but I was pleasantly surprised when the bag arrived. It's actually very spacious and versatile. Its foremost function is obviously use as a waterproof bag, rolled up and sealed (which does decrease its size quite a bit), but with a convenient shoulder strap it also doubles up into a rather useful beach bag. You can fit trunks, travel towel, water, wallet, teeshirt and sun cream into it without sealing the hem - not bad for a 5L bag. Some might say that not sealing it defeats the object, but unless you're planning on actually lobbing this item into the sea, it can be easily doubled up as a handy beach bag. And, hell, if you do fancy lobbing it into the sea, all you have to do is fold it up and seal it and fire away; your stuff will stay as dry as a bone. Excellent value for money - this bag offers 100% protection from water whilst doubling up as a beach bag or even a daysack liner.

I bought this before setting off to the States for a two month trip taking in the National Parks and Californian Beaches.I went wading along the Merced River, swimming in the Pacific Ocean, rafting on the Cache Le Poudre River and Colorado River as well as kayaking on the Saco River. Everywhere I went I took this bag with me, stuffed with a camp towel, DSLR, iPhone, wallet and change of clothes. Not once did the bag leak and it's still in perfect condition. It floats which is handy if it falls out of your raft, so it can be retrieved with ease. If submersed, it maintains its waterproof-ness.The bag came with a shoulder strap and a metal carabiner which was useful for securing the bag to my kayak. There was also some Silica Gel inside which presumably is to prevent condensation forming within the bag. I lost the silica gel pretty early on, but didn't find condensation to be an issue.I also used the bag as a pillow when on the beach, stuffed with a t-shirt and towel and with some air trapped in, it was very comfortable. All in all, a great purchase and I would recommend whole-heartedly. It's the perfect size too.

I recently bought this item so I could take it on holiday. I knew that there would be a few occasions where we'd be in the ocean, and I was going to want to take my camera. I must say this bag was absolutely perfect for it's purpose. I trusted it with my very expensive digital SLR camera/lens whilst swimming out to an island, and it was dry as a bone inside. The 5L bag fit my camera with 15-85mm lens attachment perfectly. You wouldn't want to go any smaller than this I would think, unless you just wanted to put phone/key/wallet inside.I think 5L is a good size, cause I actually used it to carry around my DSLR for the whole holiday, A) because I didn't want to look too much like a camera-toting tourist, and B) so you aren't a target for bag snatchers carrying around Canon branded DSLR carry-case (hmmm I wonder what's in there?)My girlfriend got sick of hearing how much I loved this bag by the end of the trip. I would like to have bought it in black, but I don't think that was a colour option.

This is a great waterproof bag that you can wear it sideway, and if you have two straps (take it from other bags), you can wear it like a backpack. I like the color because I can spot it from afar. It uses a thick rubber material that smells "rubbery", but it is a very sturdy waterproof bag. I take it to a few kayak and canoe trips, and I also take it with me to I travel just in case I need a day bag and not sure about the weather condition. A few time I did carry some "heavy" items like a couple of water bottles with backup batterie with a mirrorless camera along with a windbreaker and other items and it works fine. The transparent window is useful so you can see what you are searching. The only thing that seems to be a bit annoy is the strap. It is sturdy but prolong wear can be uncomfortable especially the area where the buckle is but can be easily solved by wrapping some soft material around it. Overall, I like this bag and I would recommend to my friends.

This is a great little bag. I use it for when kayaking and although have never submerged the bag (not having capsized), I can say that after four hours paddling on the water, my wallet, keys, camera and id are bone dry after wearing the bag on my back and was in the line of fire from water from my paddles for the duration.Just one point to remember regarding the bags capacity - if you intend to use it to the 'full' then bear in mind that the mechanism for making it water tight i.e. folding the top lip over four times, as effective as it is, does reduce the space available so whether the 5 Liters quoted is the space when this procedure has been carried out or not I'm not sure.Never the less, this bag is ideal for what it is intended for and I would recommend it to anyone who finds themselves in circumstances that could render perishable small items subject to getting wet. Thanks for reading.

I purchased this for Hawaii trip so we can join kayaking tour. This was a great choice. I am so glad that I purchased this before the trip. This bag is great to have if you are going to a beach, do some marine sports, or motorcycle touring. The material is so durable that I don't have to worry about that you can throw it to the beach, rock, use it rough. If you are carrying minimum stuff like small towel, cell phones, keys, extra t-shirts, this is perfect size. If you want to carry additional beach towel in it, it will fit but it will be really tight. You might want to go one size up. This dry bag does not have any separation in side so to keep organize, you might want to get small organizer bag to keep your keys and phones organize. As a dry bag, this is awesome product and if I need another dry bag, I will definitely buy this brand of dry bag. I will highly recommend this bag!!

This is a difficult item to review. It's well made, great colour and very good quality but the picture I think is misleading. It's hard to visualise what 12ltrs is in terms of a bag... when this arrived, I was surprised to find that it is only 7 inches in diameter and around 24 inches long ! It's more like a tube than a bag. I tried to use it for my diving gear etc but I found I needed extra bags!!! I also found it difficult to use as you have to stack all your things on top of each other - I found it too narrow and too long.I've just revisited the Amazon page and I can see that hidden in the "more detail" click, there are dimensions, but they're wrong ! It states it's 15" high yet it's really 24" high.I probably should have checked this before ordering from a picture I guess. If it was 6 inches wider, it would have been perfect. Mike

I got feed-up with using tesco bags to try and keep my mobile phone & other electronics dry on my daily commute to work (bicycle), so decided to purchase one of these. I've been using it for over a year and its still going strong. Despite some of the wettest winters on record, nothing inside it has ever got wet.Its fairly rigid so can take up a bit of room in my backpack , but it depends how much stuff you have in it. The 5 Litre isn't big enough to fit my clothes in, but is fine for your electronics (ie camera, phone, organiser. You may struggle to fit an ipad in it though as it wouldn't leave you much room to roll up the top). All in all a good purchase, once this one wears out (no sign of it yet)I'll buy another one.

wasn't expecting too much but these absolutely did the trick on our family holiday to spain. I bought some cheap waterproof phone bags and put all our phones, money and car keys in the waterproof bags, before putting them in this bag (just in case!) On one occasion i don't think I rolled the top down enough so the inside was a little wet around the top, but not down the bottom of the bag on the inside. Anyway, didn't have to leave any valuables on the beach while we were frollicking in the water so all good. Try and make sure you squeeze all the air out before you roll the top and clip it, otherwise while you're bobbing under the waves, the bag is floating on the top and trying to strangle you!
