This is a very good little camera, with fantastic retro-looks hiding a very powerful and multi-functional camera. There is something for everybody here. You can use this as a simple point-and-shoot with pre-set shooting modes allowing you to quickly get the best setup without having to know what an f-stop is, and at the other end of the spectrum you have the same powerful creativity that an SLR gives you but without the bulk and heft. This is a great camera for a beginner, as there is lots of camera here for your money and it has the functions to allow you to grow as your skills improve. It also means that if more than one member of the family is going to use this, there is something for everyone to get the best out of it. Pass it to your gran and she can take photos straight away, while the more camera-savvy can control every detail of the shot. The controls are a bit weird and take some getting used to, not helped by Olympus pretty much not giving you any instructions on how to use the thing. There is a 'quick start' manual to get going, but to get the best out of this you will need to do a bit of websearching and a lot of playing. This is quite disappointing for a camera of this price. Olympus could easily have included a small memory card with the manual on it which would have been a really nice touch. Anyway, there is a lot to learn to get the best from this one - I've had this a few weeks now and I'm still discovering menus and options I didn't know about. What is nice is that most of the main controls are handled by dedicated buttons and wheels. There is no hunting about in sub-menus to find things you need right now. Having said that, the combination of a touch-screen and hard buttons is sometimes confusing, as you're not sure what to press to do what. The lens that comes with the camera is very nice. If you're the kind of person that calls lenses 'glass' then you're going to find it a bit basic, but for normal people it's sharp and has a good enough zoom length. Of course, the beauty of this type of camera is you can buy more and better lenses and swap them over easily. The camera has built-in stabilisation giving you great results even in low light. For the more seasoned shooter you can shoot in RAW, JPG or a combination of the two.The real strength of this camera is the size, and it gives you a 'real' camera that you can put in your pocket. You won't intimidate anyone as you might with a huge DSLR, and it's absolutely perfect for travel. It's very well made and feels solid in the hand. It has plenty of power and I'm finding myself reaching for this in situations where I would normally have taken a big camera bag and big DSLR.It takes a bit of patience to get to grips with the slightly confusing interface, let down by the lack of a manual, but it's worth sticking with. It looks great, produces wonderful images, and allows your creativity to shine through. Very much recomended for all levels of photographer.

I really like it. I haven't got a smart phone so I don't know how those features work. Three things have prevented me from giving a 5-star rating:(1) Since this can create a wi-fi hotspot to send pictures to a smart phone, why can't you also send pictures to PC over wifi? How hard would it have been to include that? It already has wi-fi, don't they know that most people will want to transfer pictures to a computer?(2) The viewfinder is obviously just a tiny (very high-res) screen showing the same thing as the main screen - that's why this isn't a DSLR. That's fine, but there is quite a bit of jitter on the small screen that is very annoying and really reminds you that you aren't using a DSLR.The image on the main screen is very smooth so I don't know why it has this problem on the viewfinder.(3) Speaking of the main screen, it's always on unless you have your eye right up to the viewfinder. It would be really good to have a button which turns off the main screen. You can stick something over the sensor next to the viewfinder, but then if you do want to use the main screen to view your photos, you have to un-stick it. A button would be great, and would have been easy for them to do. Even better would be if the screen was able to flip around to protect it and turn it off - it does move but only tilts at a 45degree angle, it doesn't turn all the way around.Apart from these issues, it's a good camera, you can read about the good points on the Olympus website.

Context: I have used 35mm SLRs in the past, and advanced compacts recently. I do travel and street pics on Insta - @mr_foldyThis camera is great. For me, it looks and feels like a camera should - it looks solid and even a bit complicated. (It really isn’t complicated.) The EZ 14-45mm lens is compact and easily fast enough for street photography. The longer 44-100mm is great for cropping, flattening and extra reach.Image results are stunning, Sharp as a tack. Photography techniques and tricks all work as expected. Better even. Stepping up from a compact or a phone, you will notice the range of detail across the light and shadow in your pics. You could shoot on auto forever and get good pics. But the Olympus has loads of easy to access features which will take you to amazing pics. If you get to the point where you find whatever limits this camera has, it probably means you have grown immensely as a photographer. That’s £525 well spent.

A superb camera in all respects, except it's not weather sealed. I loved this little gem. It's small and lightweight enough to carry anywhere. Has lots of features, while being simple to use. I'm a professional photographer and can highly recommend it. The sort of camera I'd buy for my dad.

I'm a rookie but this is really helping me get a grasp on photography. Easy enough to use and small enough to take everywhere. Love the Wi-Fi feature so I can import pictures easily to my phone, and the remote control using my phone to take pictures to reduce camera shake. Love it

Very, very pleased with this camera. Great value at £500 and ideal as a carry-around camera, when I don't want my heavier and bulkier Sony. It has some good features and takes photos that are perfectly acceptable for Facebook or Instagram. Really happy I bought it.

I like Olympus products, have done since the eighties, and this camera does not fail to impress. Probably too much for someone used to a 35 mil film camera, but I am loving the learning process, a very good camera and lenses.

This is a superb camera for advanced photographers or beginners. It takes clear night shots without a tripod. Whatever photography you're into this camera will suit you. Great looking and a reasonable price.

Good camera, but in hindsight I would not have bought the option with additional zoom lens, which I don't use at all. Instead I would forget the extra lens and use the extra money to go for the M5.

Lovely camera, very small, picture quality is superb, the colours are very vivid, makes my old Fuji Finepix bridge camera look very dated.
