I've owned this camera for over 6 months now and it is brilliant! I tend to shoot using TV or AV most of the time and the menu system is simple and self explanatory, if you need a bit more guidance you also have the choice of switching on the guided menu which gives you information about each option, very useful if you're learning or not sure. The OLED view finder is crisp and bright and the colour accuracy is spot on. My main camera is an EOS760D so I have all the lenses I need and with the EF-S/M mounting adaptor I can use all of my current lenses with the M50 and still enjoy the fast autofocusing and beautiful depth of colours you would expect from Canon kit.I tend not to use the video feature but I have had an experiment with it and the video quality is extremely good and an audio in jack is also available for an external mic if needed.I have seen reviews where users have been critical of the battery life; as I mentioned I don't shoot video with this camera but for normal shooting with or without flash I can achieve well in excess of 300 shots per charge, ok so not as high as some professional cameras but still very good and with a spare LP-E12 battery charged up indoor camera bag you will have a full days photography with no problems at all. Incidentally the camera also has a power saving feature which, when activated, will allow even more shots. The M50 uses the the new C-RAW image file system (CR3) which is a compressed RAW file and they are very space efficient, of course you still have the choice of using JPEG and JPEG+RAW files. Finally the WI-FI connectivity; I have always used a wired connection or a card reader for image transfer so wireless was a new experience for me. The process is seamless, the camera and computer (I use an iMAC) connect very quickly and the EOS transfer utility starts automatically, very nice operation.I cannot fault this camera, value for money, ease of use and quality all are 5 stars and compatibility with EF and EF-S lenses (with the correct adaptor) is the cherry on the cake.

I love the M50 because it is compact enough to easily take with me wherever I go and offers the image quality and ease of use that I want. Yes, I know that there are compromises to be made in having a crop sensor but these are an acceptable trade for portability for me. I didn't have any ef lenses so I don't want to use an adaptor. I want to use only native lenses. There is not the lense choice as with ef but as of today I have all I need. I will probably buy a 32mm ef-m prime lense in the future. I am not interested in the video capabilities of the camera and certainly not 4K because my computer cannot handle the processing. I cannot process raw images (CR3 )because I assume my computer is not powerful enough and the Canon DPP software crashes after loading the file. I don't understand this as I have a fast processor, 64 bit O/S and 12 Gb ram. I would like to see in body image stabilisation or every lense with IS (eg the 32mm prime does not have IS). I think canon have got it right with this camera and hope that they will continue to support and provide for the M range of cameras. I don't want to invest in M lenses only to find that they are discontinued a few years later. Canon, we need reassurance in your continued interest in this range. I would also like to see in camera battery charging so that we can charge batteries in the field using power banks. The WiFi facility is brilliant in the way images can be downloaded to phone or pc with the press of a button.

I had been shown the M50 by a friend who works in a local camera store several months before I took the plunge to buy it. I am a dedicated lifelong Canon user my first, was the awesome Canon T90 way back in the mid 80’s. My previous Canon to the M50 was the Canon EOS 50D which I have had for over 12 years. My friend knew I was in the market for a new up to date camera, but that my budget wasn’t big. He suggested I try the M50 which he loaned me several times prior to me deciding to buy it.What do I like about it? It’s literally stuffed with the latest technology, blue tooth, wireless, dedicated STM lenses which are near silent, in operation. One of my favorite things about it though is the reticulating screen on the rear.I find it a huge boon to be able to position it in any direction. Very handy for when the camera is either low to ground or high above my head, I can see and use the screen. It’s also touch screen, again a bonus for me and its extremely intuitively designed. I love the follow focus. I love the camera has a dedicated audio input plug as I love using it to do vlogging with too, something this little beauty has had heaps of praise for on YouTube!

Repeated delivery delays were frustrating as I waited for a black M50. Growing up with 35mm SLRs' and recently a Canon Bridge I had no experience of a higher end digital outside my phones 24mp. I did not want a huge DSLR to lug round and the smaller mirrorless offerings from all the makes I looked at were either low mp, slow processors, slow EVF or no EVF.Being familiar with Canon and Pentax I was biassed but the pre-release reviews were definitive and the M50 is unsurpassed by anything I have used. The new CMOS8 makes it faster too. Battery life may be bettered by others but just keep a spare in your pocket if you're out for the day snapping 3-400 shots.I bought an adaptor so I can use all the DSLR EOS lenses if required so no worries about limited choice.Built in WiFi is really useful, esp. when snapping birds. I can hide away and take the pics from my Android phone (or smart phone). Even multi shots.I can't see buying a DSLR or even "upgrading" to the M5 would be an advantage unless i needed rainproofing. It's like carrying round a couple of mobile phones with a lens on. EPIC.

I had tried a mirrorless camera from Canon when they first came out, about 5 years ago and was fairly happy with the results, but would not consider it to be my main camera. 5 years later I saw a great offer on an M50 with lens. The big difference being the M50 has a viewfinder, so its much more like a DSLR. First impressions were good - the camera is very small compared to my 80D, but it Is also very light and easy to carry around all day. The results from it are fantastic - using both the viewfinder and the touchscreen. I have purchased an M adapter so I can use my EF and EFS lens on it and it will be my walk about camera. The functions of the M50 are fine - you get M, AV,TV etc and the exposure and focusing are excellent.I can't really fault the camera to be honest - you do have to adapt to the very bright image in the viewfinder - its not what you are seeing like with a DSLR, and I would imagine it will impact on battery life.Overall, very happy and looking forward to using the M50.

If you go through the reviews then yes the fact that dual pixel autofocus is not present when using 4K and it is disappointing to hear that apparently Canon could have included it but were protecting their higher priced products. If that is true then it is a bit shame on you Canon leadership! It is also common to brand it a a beginners camera because dials and buttons don't give direst access to some features. However they are all there just use the menus. You get a camera that seems as least as good as my Canon 80D but so much smaller and lighter. If you want a button for everything the body is going to be as large as a DSLR. So far the image quality is as good as the 80D and the microphone input is useful.Need headphone socket then you need a larger body!! It does as they say what it say on the can Eye detection is just a dream addition. There are plenty of reviews out there just try to ignore the bit where they say its for beginners!

My still pictures are as good as my previous DLSR, the FHD is very good and the options available are very comprehensive - not very entry-level at all!Still learning the various camera operations but they are very much in the Canon family way of doing things and re-assuringly familiar - a very strong point. The previous DLSR I owned with all its lenses and accessories were quite heavy and after prolonged use I was glad to finish. This latest mirrorless camera is a revelation, both to use and take on extended shoots. My main grouse is that there are not yet enough dedicated lenses, prime or zoom. I hope there are some in the pipeline and the EM mount will attract the same (or near)lens activity as the R mount currently enjoy.Only time will tell if the camera will last the test of time - the build quality seems reasonably robust and I have had no issues with that or any technical issues. Very pleased!

After a mishap with my small (Sony!) holiday camera (did not like sea water...) - I was able to review my camera setup. Having 2 different manufacturers is always confusing - I've been a Canon DSLR user for over 15 years and have a shelf full of wonderful lenses - so now, with the Canon branded adaptor, all this glass is now available to me on my little mirrorless camera. It also allowed me to dispose of another Sony mirrorless camera (A7Rii) so that the menus and system is consistent for me however I want to shoot. All the M50 features are great and very easy to understand - great articulating touch screen, menu-system, APSC sensor, dual pixel autofocus (brilliant) - coupled with wifi and bluetooth.I hope this is an insight to the direction Canon is headed with a full frame mirrorless camera - I'm ready (but I'm not sure my 5Ds will be for sale!

I recently upgraded to an M50 in an attemprt to get back into semi-serious photography. I used to be quite keen back in the world of manual apertures and processing my own black and white stuff, but got lazy in recent years especially with the advent of phone snapping. This ticks all my boxes in terms of dslr functionality but at a fraction of the bulk. The standard 15-45mm kit lens is good, but I've also got the 18 -150mm zoom and been seduced into a 50mmf1.8 prime lens for low light indoor stuff plus prtraits (Need to get an adapter for this but this opens up a whole new range of lens possibilites...Going to be skint soon !)Very pleased with the results obtained so far and enjoying getting to know this little gem of a camera. The connectivity with mobile devices is excellent for instant sharing and cloud storage of your work.

I've only had this for a short time so have not been able to use it much, or delve into all of its many features. The M50 is a full featured dslr but in a smaller/lighter package being mirrorless. Easy to hold and use with inbuilt guides for the novice or intermediate user. The viewfinder and screen are clear and have as much adjustable info as you need. I chose this for hiking and travel for its size, weight and controllability but would have liked some climate sealing. Battery power is limited so extras will be required for all day use. Hopefully there will be more native and faster m series lenses in time. I only use it for photography but has good features for video too.A more detailed review could follow in time but so far I'm happy I chose this over a full size dslr.

I have only had my M50 for a few days but I love it, having been on holiday recently although the picture quality achieved with my Canon slr is fabulous the size and weight got to the point of leaving it in the hotel and using my mobile phone, hence the reason for buying the M50 when I got home.I don’t have the fold out screen on my slr and I find that very useful on the M50, also the fact that you can transfer photos wirelessly to your smartphone is genius, I was about to purchase a lead to transfer photos to my Mac and then thought what is the point when I can transfer them to my phone and then they automatically transfer to the Mac.Great picture quality and the usual solid build qualitythat you expect from Canon.

I have had my Canon EOS M50 for 6 months now. It is smaller than my previous DSLR, and lighter in weight which is great. It has been hard work learning to use the settings as the on-line instruction book is long and complex and doesn't use the same English as I speak! The kit lens is good and I bought the 55-200 Telephoto lens too. This is not really good enough for taking distance photos, particularly of wildlife. After over 3 hours I managed to download my photos directly to my laptop using the image transfer utility. I will persevere with this camera but would welcome an instruction booklet that contained more than using the camera on automatic.

I now have two of these marvellous cameras, I used to use SLR/DSLR cameras but now being disabled and wheelchair reliant, the M50 suits my needs exactly. I use them almost exclusively on Manual, easily controlled to get the shot I want. Wouldn't say it's a "beginner" camera as it has many similarities/ functions as any DSLR, it's a lightweight option to many DSLR's where weight is a major factor to being able to simply hold the camera. I thought my photography days were over after my accident until I bought my first M50, it has inspired me to go out and take photos again and helping me forget about my physical limitations. Thankyou Canon!

I bought this after reading review after review to replace my 70D after using that camera semi professionally. I wanted the same if not similar functions but in a smaller package for holidays too. Apart from the lack of buttons compared to the 70d the M50 is absolutely superb. I have no idea why canon have marketed this as entry level as so far this camera does everything my 70d did but with better image quality and faster focusing! Insane. All in a camera that when paired with a 22m EF-M is almost as small as a point and shoot. Perfection. Only complaint - battery life, but batteries are half the price of the 70d ones so not bothered.

I've had the M50 for over a year. Its one of several Canon cameras I own, I use 2 full frame cameras with heavy high quality lenses but they are impractical to pop in a pocket for a day out. So for times that I'm not going out to photograph something specific I like to have a small carry about with reasonable quality lenses, the 15mm-45mm is very good but I tend to have the 22mm f/2.0 pancake lens on my M50 which is more than adequate. While the M50 would never replace my full frame cameras with high quality lenses its a fraction of the price and far better than a phone for casual photography.
