Superb visuals and stirring music immediately set the atmosphere and promise much to look forward to. The game doesn't disappoint either. This is the 5th in the MCF series and is an un-timed click and point adventure with hidden object scenes and plenty of puzzles. The main game play involves moving in and outside the house and there is a lot of coming and going as it's not always obvious what to do or where to go next. Sparkling areas indicate a hidden object scene where you have collect items to interact with other aspects somewhere else in the game in order to progress. Also single shining points indicate an area of interest where some action is required. These can sometimes be difficult to spot but are essential to find.Unlike it's predecessors more time and effort has gone into producing the artwork which, whilst still variable, is much better than previously and there are also some really nice animations as well. The hidden object scenes vary in content and are not usually too overcrowded. Size, scale, orientation and placement of objects have been slightly altered to make sure it's not too easy to find things and some items are extremely difficult to locate. It is especially so in the dollhouse as the items are miniaturised. The unlimited hints are a little vague and take nearly 4 minutes to recharge. There are also no delays in the collection of items as in previous games as this game allows selection in quick succession. However, making too many incorrect guesses too quickly makes the cursor throw a wobbly for a short time. The main object is to locate the coffins of Charles' victims in order to release their souls and a puzzle game has to be completed for each character in order to free them. There are many such puzzles throughout the game, mostly to open doors or gain access to certain areas. They vary in difficulty but can be skipped eventually. If you do get stuck at any time then avoid clicking on the strategy guide button as this will merely take you to the Big Fish website to buy the strategy guide. Much better to get online for a free walkthrough instead. The music and sound effects add a menacing atmosphere and sense of urgency as does the ghostly voices which call out in the night. You get to meet these characters, played by real actors, during cut scenes where ghostly figures tell you their story and plead for you to help them. You first meet Emma whose soul was released in the original Ravenhearst game and she asks you to help all the others trapped by her mad and murderous husband, Charles. These scenes cannot be skipped. There are also outtakes with the actors during the final credits if you want to check them out.Another plus point is that when you replay the game (and you'll want to) then new and different lists are provided in the hidden object scenes. Here are the other games in the series but only the last two can compare to this game:1 - Huntsville2 - Prime Suspects3 - Ravenhearst4 - Madame Fate6 - Dire Grove7 - 13th Skull

This is a casual game, an IHOG (interactive hidden object game). Basically that means you need to search out hidden objects, some of which are retained in inventory and used elsewhere either to find more objects or solve a puzzle. As a game in the IHOG category this is tops. Good music, graphics and puzzles. There are a couple of action minigames included. The story, set in Blackpool, holds interest, though it is pure hokum. An internet connection is required after installation as the game is added to the Bigfish game stub (also included in the install) for activation. There is no voice acting only subtitles. The CD is not required for subsequent play after the install. The only drawback I perceive is that the American vocabulary occasionally defies understanding (a weiner? it's a sausage!). There are plenty of hints available and puzzles can be skipped if proving too difficult. There are lots of venues to explore and expect roughly 20 hours entertainment. Good value for money.

If you like devious puzzles, this is the game for you.A haunting setting with a fairly decent storyline. The ghosts of children and their mother need to be freed from the torment they are in.The locations within the game are exciting to explore, but, sometimes very frustrating. However, with perserverence and using logic, most of the puzzles can be solved. The graphics are amazing, and the background music is compelling. If you are really stuck of course you can refer to the walkthrough, but, the satisfaction and sense of achievement without it are second to none.A fantastic game and I personally cannot wait for the follow up .

I enjoyed this, and it's a follow up to Ravenhearst and Madame Fate. Some of the puzzles are fiendish, or a least I thought so. I resorted to a walkthrough only twice, though. With lots of logic and literal thinking the puzzles can be worked out! Great to be able to wander backwards and forwards through the various areas of play, with the spooky music and the ghosts popping up, it's very atmospheric! I didn't need to have my computer hooked up to the internet to make it play as the last reviewer said.but highly recommended as an above your more usual hidden object game.

I play these games to give me a little relief from being a full time mum to 3 children. All i want is something to help me relax on an evening just before bed (that is when I am not reading). Return to Ravenhearst did nothing of the sort. Though I played the game fully without skipping a challenge it was too much for someone who just wants to play a game that is not very taxing. I have recommended this to my hubby who loves a challange.Good graphics, good atmosphere, good game. Just too mentally taxing before bedtime hence the reason only 4 fun stars.

I played the first Ravenhurst I thought that was pretty good, but fairly easy, but got me into these types of games, but to be honest nothing else is a good as ravenhurst games.. then i went for the return to ravenhurst, I was really addicted, my son and I would put aside two hours of an evening over the weekend and we both enjoyed the storyline and clues, it was something to really look forward to doing on those long winter evening.. the atmosphere is excellent, I keep checking to see if the is another ravenhurst out yet, but sadly not.. great game !!

I bought this as a present for my 9 year old daughter, the only problem is, is that I keep playing it as well! We both enjoyed the first Ravenhearst and so bought this. Compared to the first Ravenhearst it is a lot lot harder. There are lots more puzzles to solve and you have to teach yourself how to get round the house, rather than the game showing you which room to go in for clues. We like the fact that the 'hint' has to reload so you can't get help even though you might want it! Overall an excellent game, if a little too hard for my daughter.

I thought this game was brilliant, hours of gameplay and a haunting story-line which to be honest I didn't expect to find. Some of the puzzles do have your brain doing a good workout but there is a handy skip button if the going gets to hard. I played this one first before playing the original and this one is the better of the two by far, wish I hadn't bothered with the first in the series. This is different so don't go by the first one when thinking of buying as this is loads better, graphics and gameplay. Enjoy! Recommended.

Excellent game. This and Madame Fate are my all time favorite hidden objects games. The graphics are really good and the music score to the game is really good too, which makes the game more enjoyable. I did find it very hard at first so had to go to big fish website for help with their walkthrough. There are still three puzzles I'm unable to play in the game but you can by pass them via the hint button. It took me a week to complete this game and I can't stop playing it.

Return to Ravenhurst is a definite step up from the first Ravenhurst game. I first tried it on a 60 minute free trial and had it ordered as soon as it was released. The puzzles are challenging without being impossible. I like the way you have to revisit areas in order to move forward so it doesn't feel too linear. The graphics are lovely too.My only critcism - and all games I like get this - is that it's not long enough! It left me wanting more.

This game is fabulous! I got hooked with Ravenhearst 1, but this is a different class, exactly what I was looking for out of an adventure game. It's great to explore the house and grounds looking for clues and solving loads of puzzles, trying to remember where in the house you needed that vital item to unlock another clue. Demanding enough to not be boring, but not too hard, so that you give up. I love it, more games like this please!

I bought this for my 10 year old son, but the whole family (age range from 5 to 33 years) enjoyed playing this game. It's a tad creepy, with a storyline that is not particularly nice, but it adds to the scary fun when playing. The puzzles can be very challenging at times and I have to admit, we did use a cheat from the internet on a couple of occasions, but mostly they are solvable. Brilliant fun and we would definitely recommend.

By far one of the best games out there of this kind. Not in any way to be compared to Ravenhearst, which was somewhat repetative in it's use of picture building, as this is a much more sophisticated scenario with a variety of scenes and mini games included into the plot which lead to a number of challenges. It's one of those games which goes on for hours and the only disappointment, like reading a good book, is that I finished it.

This is the first computor game I have played like this, and whilst it is very interesting and mind boggling, I found some of the puzzles quite hard to do and skipped some of them. My daughter found it easyer than me, and has completed it, (I,m still doing it),she too skipped some of the puzzles. We both said we would play it again and try to do it completely, and would definatly recommend it.

This game drove me round the bend at first, then I realized I was not using my brain.I deleted it due to frustration. Reloaded - worked my way through carefully. I had to go to walk through a couple of times for help. Big fish charge you for this but Gamezboy give you a complete walk through when needed. It you like a challenge go for this game - it's teriffic.
