I've done 4 of these murder mystery games and this is the best one - not overly scripted and gives useful hints for pursuing your own line of questioning. It is for 8 people (4 female, 4 male characters - we had 5 men so there was some cross-dressing shenanigans).Murder mystery games, whatever the brand, seem quite formulaic - silly pun character names and there are loads of often bizarre secrets to uncover. This one though is in my opinion a bit more clever than some others and it has plot twists without being impossible to work out (not that any of us managed too, but I blame the booze).If you and your guests are prepared to invest in the game and dress up and play the characters as suggested

This was my first Murder Mystery dinner party. The Shotgun Affair proved to be great fun with all the guests really enjoying getting into character. Another review has mentioned that it can be difficult being the hostess and serving up dinner, etc at the same time as playing and I would agree. This didn't spoil it for me at all but I couldn't really get to grips with the facts. I asked all my guests to leave their booklets and badges so that the game can be used again by friends and family. Absolutley great fun. Communications with this seller were responded to quickly. I also contacted the manufacturer and their communications were equally as good. Excellent product and service all round!

What's so good about these Cheatwell murder mystery games is that no one knows who committed the dastardly deed until the denouement - even the murderer.I have played quite a lot of these murder mystery games and the character cards usually tell you in the second round if you're the murderer which can be quite annoying as you then have to pretend you don't know and hide your guilt. With Cheatwell games, not even the murderer knows it's them until the end which I think is more enjoyable.The shotgun affair is excellent fun - I'd recommend it to anyone.

Played the murder mystery at the weekend with 6 of my friends. What a laugh! Glad I did not take part as such just played the part of host and kept everyone on track. Think it would have been hard going to play a part and also dish up the dinner etc along the way. Thoroughly enjoyed it though and the girls that were here (3 of them had to play men) said they have never laughed so much for a long time. They all got into the characters and the wine which I think you have to do to make it work.

This is the fourth murder mystery I've been to/hosted although the first to have only 6 characters. I thought this would be a disadvantage, but we laughed and laughed all evening, especially at Frau Pumpernickel's accent and her reams of information to read out. Everyone made a real effort with their costumes and played out their characters very well. When I think back to the evening I mainly remember the laughter!

I have played a number of these types of games and am familiar with the pitfalls of scripts that are unclear as to who says what and when. This game is very clear, well paced and has excellent resources to help the folk playing. I think it is still better for slightly experienced players but beginners should be able to cope with this as an introduction to the playing of murder mysteries.

We had a really nice evening out of this. Were a little surprised at some aspects of the structure, as nothing was secret by the end - could have saved time questioning mid-game! However, the mystery was logical and we nailed the method if not the exact person. Didn't feel cheated by the story at all!

I sent this to a navy friend who was on a ship patrolling around the Falkland Islands. They had a marvellous time and raised money for the ships charity. It was then passed around the ships crew, who also enjoyed taking part in the mystery role play.

I havent played this one yet as only arrived today. Looks good quality and I am sure there will be a lot of laughter and fun and games. Thank you team.
