Monopoly is a classic game, but has its faults. For one, it takes a long time to play correctly. Monopoly Millionaire addresses some of the faults from the original version, and adds a few of its own to the mix.Components: The games components are a mixed bag. The houses and hotels are fantastic - the translucent pieces add a professional touch to the game, as does the new cardboard money. Gone is the annoying paper money of the original game, which would be lost under the board and difficult to separate notes out. The new notes are sturdy, will last a long time, and come in a useful holder in the middle of the board. The new black cards and board are also good quality. The component quality however falls down with the playing pieces and the fortune cards. The playing pieces look and feel like cheap Christmas cracker toys. Also, only having a choice of four (despite their ability to upgrade after passing go) is a big step backwards. The playing pieces simply don't match the quality of the new houses and hotels. The fortune cards are little cards that fit on the board at each location, and any time you buy a property, you also take the fortune card on the space, which each give a surprise, good or bad. Had the fortune cards been made into fortune tiles, that is, being made of the same quality cardboard as the excellent new money tiles, they would have been great. As it is, they are simply awful, more paper than card, think about the quality and thickness of paper on the cover of a magazine, not anywhere near as durable as standard playing card stock. Furthermore, it's practically impossible to use these outside, the slightest gust of wind and they'll be off.Gameplay: Where Monopoly Millionaire excels is in its updated gameplay. The game zips along at a blistering pace, without being 'dumbed down' from the original. It appears that someone at Hasbro has actually taken the time to think about the original game's flaws, and streamline them perfectly. Monopoly is now suitable for play in more situations given its shorter play time, and also feels more tense as a result. It's also better for younger people with shorter attention spans.Overall: A well thought out update of a classic. Largely excellent components, game pieces aside, and streamlined rules make for a game which is definitely still Monopoly, yet plays quicker, and ends up just being much more fun. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Firstly don't let any bad reviews put you off buying as we just read a recent one and they must of played the game wrong! If you love monopoly you'll love this game. We love monopoly, so much so we have two other animal versions of the game (by a different company but based on the same game just made with animal features). In fact we felt this game was better if your playing with only two people, which we were. It had some interesting stragagies which made it more interesting. So where do I start? We have played this game once so far and love it. Our first game ended after an hour/hour and half (guessing as we didn't time it). It was very enjoyable and we can't wait to play again. It has some of the same features as the usual monopoly and also some extra ones. One of the new features we loved was the auction bidding. When a player lands on a property it must be bought. If the landed player doesn't buy it then it goes to auction. The landed player can still bid and the bid starts much lower than the price of the property. This makes it very interesting and even with two players it can be enjoyed. It's all about stragagy and this makes it very interesting. The money is not paper like the normal monopoly, it's like thick card shaped money. At first this was strange but we soon got used to it, it's basically immitating a wad of money to that amount as the money is all higher value. Another great new feature is fortune cards which are put on every property space. When you land on them you look at them and they can be a great find. There are two types, ones you can keep and use when you like and ones that have to be used now. This added a lot of fun to the game and added to the enjoyment. It's got so many new features, it's fun to play even if you only have two players. It's generally shorter to play than the normal monopoly and this can be a good thing as sometimes a normal monopoly game can go on for a long time. Not that it's a bad thing but it's nice to have a new game with a new twist that can also be shorter in length,Highly recommended, lots of fun.

This was number one on my sons Santa list. Delivered promptly and was packed extremely well. We all settled down after Christmas dinner to play, this gave some huge nostalgic feelings for me. My son was eagerly excited to become a millionaire, and we set about playing. Its essentially the same as the original with a few cool twists. All the properties have new, names which reflect the new wealth in London. You have a different player piece idea where you can upgrade yourself. And there are now millionaire lifestyle cards. The best change is when someone gets to a million they win, so you dont have this long drawn out game. One or two little disapointments are the player pieces are cheap plastic, not metal. Another is the money in the bank can run out. Apart from that this is a refreshing and great twist on the original and captivates the game console generation. This was easily my sons best Christmas present we have ever got him, he loves it. especially when he wins :-)).

We got this for our children for Christmas and it's a huge hit for our whole family. My husband and I find it very enjoyable and so much faster than the original Monopoly. My son is only 6 but he really gets the idea and wins games without us giving him chances. It is a much more positive game than the original Monopoly because you are aiming for a specific goal rather than playing to the bitter end and trying to bankrupt the other players. So much kinder for a young child! There are 2 downsides. You do run out of money. We swapped the 1,000 notes and made them 100,000 value instead - even then we still got short. It needs some 500,000 notes. The other downside is the cheap plastic playing pieces. They could be better made and the small aeroplane is hardly visible on the board.Apart from that I would highly recommend it.

Monopoly is another fun game for the family, not with London cities but well thought out scenes like Paradise Island - much more fun than London! You and your opponents each start the game with a small salary whilst passing but throughout the game, this increases and so will the quality of your transport. It didn't take us a short while to finish this game because mummy brought the really expensive houses! It is a lot of fun and don't think it's just the packaging trying to lure you in! It's not - this game is truly awesome and there is en0ugh supply of everything.

My 7yo really enjoys this game. He's a big fan of standard Monopoly, but can't often convince us to play it - this is much faster, so we're more inclined to play. It uses "Forced deal" and "Sly deal" cards, as in the Monopoly Deal card game, and the rents are much closer to the cost of the properties, so it's less strategic, and you don't have to bankrupt everyone to finish. Not such an exciting game for adults, but fewer arguments too. Only real downside is that one set of pieces is grey, and they're really hard to see on the grey board!

My husband and I played "Monopoly Millionaire" together and had lots of fun with it. There are a range of properties that a player can own such as: Castle View, Palace Gardens, Paradise Island, Dream Avenue, and Fortune Valley. There are also fortune, millionaire lifestyle, and chance cards. This game can be played with 2-4 players and a full listing of the contents are on the Hasbro dot com website. "Monopoly Millionaire" is a family friendly game for those who enjoy simulated activities involving owning real estate.

This game is great for the whole family. The money is much better as it is card then doesn't crease. Upgrading your movers are fun and the fortune card's are great most of them ask you to buy or auction the property you just landed on if not move on to the next one and do the same. It's not as easy as going round the board a few times then you've won I would recommend this game to any one who is up for a fun game. It's much better than the original version.

We all really enjoyed this game over Christmas because it stretched my games mad 6 year old grandson and was a good enough game for everyone else to join in. Adults who remember monopoly from their youth picked it up instantly and the children enjoyed it too but it is good enough for them to keep playing and learning more strategies after the holidays. It will certainly engage all the family.

Bought it for a Christmas for our 7 year old son, and he loves it so much.it got him thinking hard, how to win. The good thing is it's not gonna keep you for ages to finish it off but even a wining that first million you can carry on playing and get that second million - as we have done it.overall really pleased with the game it's fun for kids and adults.

Really enjoyed playing this game with my two children, they loved the idea of upgrading their playing piece and most of all they didn't get bored as it does not drag out as long as the original version - so yes I would say this version is more suitable for younger players.

30.12.2012

love this game!! had hours of fun over christmas playing this game such a laugh i wouldnt say i prefer it to the original but with a game lasting an hour plus less likely of getting fed up (plus i actually managed to win a game first time ever!)

Excellent monopoly game for the younger family. Bought when children were 9 & 10. Still being played at ages 11 & 12yrs. I prefer the original monopoly... though for a quicker game and the attention span of the younger family this one is super.

Very happy with this product both for price and quality - I bought this for my 8 year old grandson as part of his xmas prezzies - it arrived on time and he has had hours of fun with this - would definitely recommend this product.

7.1.2013

This is a much quicker game than original monopoly as you have to buy or auction off a property when it is landed on for the first time. Since my two (10 and 12) annoy each other so much a quicker game mean less arguments.
