A genuinely well thought out twist on a traditional classic. Players race to fill their billboards with brands first. Gone are complicated rules on houses, hotels, mortgages and title deeds, in comes a brilliant billboard system that not only makes it easy to see at a glance who is winning, but also indulge in corporate takeovers by rolling the handshake symbol on the dice. The simplified nature of the game continues with the reduced denominations of notes - only three are present, although, in a backwards move, gone are the fantastic cardboard token notes from Millionaire, to be replaced with the traditional - and fiddly - paper notes. The pros are clear with Monopoly Empire - fantastic new gold movers,an X-Box controller, McDonalds Fries, a Paramount Pictures clapper board, and so on. Rules are simplified in this game to make things flow better and run quicker, without any 'dumbing down'. Like Millionaire before it, the game doesn't really lose any of its charm or appeal with slightly simiplified rules. The footprint of the board is about half the size of my 1980s Monopoly board meaning that it can be played on almost any table. Now the cons - some may say that this is simply a cynical cash-in, that Hasbro will be laughing all the way to the bank, and that it'll be teaching our youngsters the finer points of corporate greed. Sandra Bullocks to that I say, I think this is Hasbro's attempt at trying to get in with the kids. Beats by Dre? Present and correct (who?). Xbox? Yes sir, Nestle? Tasty. JetBlue? Who? Yes, there's a couple of odd choices, but most of them will be recognisable. More cons include the paper money, fiddly plastic company chits (careful now), and the little green offices, which are a little out of place with the rest of the offering. Also, a few corners have been cut. The cards are of very cheap card stock, like magazine cover cardboard, with pointy square corners, which come across as being a little naff - surely a company like Hasbro can print cards on proper card stock with nice rounded corners? Also, while the dice and tokens can be displayed in a nice customer insert, the company chits are put in a sealed bag that cannot be reused. It would have been so much better if Hasbro had simply provided a simple zip lock bag.Minor niggles aside, Hasbro is on to another winner here - a fast paced version of Monopoly, distilled down to its core. It's different enough to warrant another purchase, yet similar enough to have you up and running in no time.

This is a modified Monopoly for four players maximum. There are nine squares down each side. The “property” squares are now “Company” squares and when you buy the company (eg. Samsung, Coca Cola), priced according to its capitalisation, you can stack their advertising billboard in your (plastic) “corporate tower”. (Think of the neon advertising in Times Square.) The person who fills up their tower first wins (and the companies have different sized billboards). When you land on a company owned by another player the rent you pay is the total value of their tower (billboards), so as such there are no “cheap” or “expensive” areas to land on.There are lots of twists to this game especially if four play.As well as the usual ”chance” cards there are cards that for example enable you to block any action against you, and enable you to collect rent when you should pay it. One side of one dice enables you to swap the top billboards between any two players, so you can peg back the leader a bit.Games for us last from 20 to 60 minutes.I like this game – it’s attractively colourful with excellent playing pieces. Because of its relative simplicity it may not be as playable as “normal” monopoly. One last thing – the rules are (thankfully) concise, but this means certain flavours of certain situations are not covered. So we’ve had to invent a rule or two. No problem though.

Had been on my wish list since it was released but now I've got it am really pleased. Gone are the days of Monopoly lasting several days, our quickest game was over in just about 20 minutes but most take a fair bit longer and it really is suitable for youngsters as well as adults. Played it last weekend with 10 yr old grandson and it's dead easy to pick up the rules and how to play The basic idea is to buy companies and place the company tiles (which you get instead of a card when you buy the company) on a ladder on the board. First one to fill the ladder with company tiles wins - simple. There are some real sneaky deals to be done using what used to be the chance and community chest cards and even the dice have a 'sneaky swap'side where you can swap one of your companies for an opponents (whether they like it or not). It has gold coloured playing pieces and the money comes in only 3 different denominations. The only down point, and it is a minor one, is that it is only for 4 players however we decided that the one who has the least in the value of their companies is replaced in the next game by any one who is waiting.

We have played this so many times since Christmas with our 5 year old daughter and 8 year old son. My husband and I are still yet to win a game though, and there has been genuinely no cheating or trying to let them win, we've stuck to the rules. The fast pace keeps the kids attention and so they usually want to play a couple of games. Some games we've finished in 20 minutes, others have lasted an hour. It really varies, you think you're winning by a mile, then suddenly you're not. This helps to keep the kids interested too, they don't loose faith and give up when they think they are losing as they know it's so easy for things to change.I thought our 5 year old would struggle (she has only just turned 5),but she has no trouble, other than you have to read the cards for her. She can set the game up on her own with no problem, handing out the right money to everyone (there are only 3 different notes), and we let her be the banker which helps her practice counting and she loves. This has been the best family game we've ever bought.

To be clear this game is different from standard Monopoly and all its theme variants. Standard monopoly despite being a classic boardgame is actually one of the worst board games available. It is much better because- the winner is the first one to achieve a goal (filling their tower with brand tiles), rather than standard monopoly where to win, each opposing player has to be forced out of the game one by one - so this game has a much more positive experience- the game is much quicker to play (about 30 mins)The game still has a large amount of luck - rather than strategy. the brand approach is a bit tacky, but the board, pieces etc are well made.Plenty of other better games available out there (Carcasonne,Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride etc), but for a mainstream offering this isn't bad.

Well i dont know how this differs from the other 50 monopoly boards that my wife currently owns however this one is apparently required!!!It is a wonderful game that turns the whole family from nice friendly people to horrible monster's!! The game normally ends when Helen cant take anymore loseing and up ends the table!! (She's normally nice)So may i take my time and thank hasbro on yet another twisted variant of the monopoly that my wife MUST have. If they release any more i may have to extend the house due to me already loosing my wardrobe to this evil game.Quick delivery for those that want there miserably game to come quicker

My 10 year old meglomaniac absolutely loves this game. A more modern appraoch to Monopoly where budding empire builders buy and trade in global brands rather than property in London. For this reason alone my children connect better with it, as you can imagine "owning XBOX" is significantly more gratifying than buying a property in Whitechappel. The game can be simplified as you start out and as you get the hang of the game you can begin to trade your brands. Buying this version of Monopoly has lead to many afternoons with the family having good old fashioned fun with a board game.

I have always been a fan of monopoly but hate how long it takes to play out. As a result our original monopoly game has been left on the shelf to gather dust. When my daughter asked for this for Christmas I have to admit I cringed at the thought of yet another version with the exact same concept, but I was wrong. This version has great new twists and a lot more strategy. One of the best features is that it only takes about 30 minutes to play. We had so much fun on Christmas Day we played multiple rounds and everyone could join in on the fun from age 7 to 37!

I bought this game as a gift for my grandson for Christmas - he's already got another version, but had asked for this one as well. We played it together as a family and it was really good fun. The much simpler denominations of money were much easier to manage than the original game, and meant we could focus on building our empires instead of using time negotiating with the banker. The obvious educational pluses of reading, counting etc. were just part of the fun. The game is played out much quicker than the original one so it remains interesting.

My kids love Monopoly but the problem with classic Monopoly is it goes on forever!Beautifully designed and well made, this is a condensed version that is very easy to understand and very quick to play. You go around the board buying up billboards for each product and stack them on your tower, when the tower is full you win. Easy peasy. We sometimes make it longer when only 2 people are playing by having 2 towers each, even then its over within 30 minutes.Everyone loves it. Would recommend.

My son got this for Christmas and we've already played it for times. It's much quicker and less complicated than the original version, around 30-45mins a game. We have a nearly 9yo and a 6yo and they both enjoy the game immensely. Our 6yo needs a little bit of help with the empire cards (like community chest) but otherwise is quite capable and has actually beaten us all hands down three out of four times!Just be careful with the small billboards as they're easily lost!

This game is brilliant - my 8 year old and 12 year old loved it - as did all their friends that popped in during the Christmas holidays.WE love playing it as a family and think the elements of it that relate to the business world are brilliant that the kids can grasp them so young.A fun way to teach business skills! Also a game goes quickly so you are not stuck playing like a normal monopoly game and also as its fun you actually want to play it!

Played this x-mas day after a few drinks, was really funny! Completely changed it up from the original monopoly which I love but can never get anyone to play as it takes too long. There's no exchanging properties, it's about stealing other peoples properties and making them swap with you or someone else against their will, gets pretty heated once you understand the tactics! And you can have a best of 3 tournament in about an hour.

17.11.2015

A great game only reason that it didn't get 5 stars is due to how quickly games can end. This is a fantastic variant and very re-playable.I would disagree with the age guide being 8+ it's a very easy game to get the hang of. Go round the board buy companies fill your tower then you win. The other small rules are easy to explain or leave out to involve the whole family.

This game is different to the original monopoly, however it is still a great fun game! Can be played in a much shorter time than the original which could become a little boring after a while. The one disadvantage is that there can be a maximum of only four player, however this doesn't really bother me. I would recommend this game to anybody! Great Buy!! Five Stars!
