I love Melissa and Doug toys, they're fabulous in terms of educational value and very friendly and innovative, not to mention the high quality and durability put into the toy. My little one loves counting to ten, so I thought it would be a fun way to introduce her to 'understanding counting', additions, substractions, and simply 1 bead in 1, 2 beads in 2, etc. She got frustrated handling the magnetic wand and moving the beads around, even more so, she got frustrated with me trying to explain putting only one bead in one, that was way over her ability (at 2, it's no wonder), so it's not suitable for a young toddler.

I bought this toy after my 4 year old's pre-school recommended it to help improve my son's pincer grip. He's encouraged to use this toy at pre-school as they have one there, as until recently he was still holding a pen/pencil in a clenched fist grip rather than the pincer grip that he'll need when he goes to school and starts writing. So far he's done really well with it and is for the first time holding the pen correctly, he's sorting the balls in to 1 red ball in the number 1, 2 red balls in the number 2 etc when supervised. If he's left to play on his own though he'll go back to holding the pen in a clenched fist, but it's a promising sign. Easy to store with no little bits to lose,

I bought this toy for my four year old nephew and it was an instant success. Not only is it educational from a number learning point of view, it also teaches him hand-to-eye coordination. His one and a half year old brother, too, enjoys moving the magnetic balls around, thereby, too, practicising his hand-to-eye coordination. The clear plactic cover of this toy is great in that the toy is absolutely ideal for car journeys and generally, because its parts cannot get lost around the house.

I have been searching a long time for a similar product, thinking how important is the pincer grip for a 2-3 years old. But I wanted the game to be also both very interesting and engaging, in order the child to use it. Melissa & Doug Magnetic toy ticked all the boxes. My 2 years old could relate with the animals and create reasons for using the toy, as to feed one favourite animal more than the others some days or a couple of them in other days. Well done again, Melissa & Doug!

A lovely product but I got it because the listing said it was suitable for travel and it’s not! The tiny plastic beads are so noisy when they move around that anyone sitting near us on a train or plane would be driven mad! And you can’t stop the beads moving around whenever the game moves around (in your bag, on your lap, in your hands etc) and so you can’t stop the noise!!

A good game for young children and educational too - it teaches counting, hand to eye coordination, manual skills, patience etc. I would, however, make the string slightly longer as it can be difficult for little fingers to reach corner areas of the board with the way the hold the pen. On the whole though this is a very good game and I recommend it.

This is a great toy, the kids love it. It teaches hand eye coordination and is a useful tool to help learn counting/sorting for the older ones and farm animals for the younger ones.Its suitable for a wide range of ages. A great durable, fun toy thats going to last a lot longer than the usual 5 minutes!

I was originally looking at a similar maze made by Lakeshore which was retailing at £50. This is a much better item at a fraction of the price, no lesser quality, does teh same job. The kids like these mazes, and so do Mums as they are soooo easy to clear up (no small pieces)! Would certainly recommend.

This is an attractive and hands-on way of focusing on counting and numbers. The magnetic pen or wand makes it a novel format. And, because the excellent design means it is all contained - it could be used on long car journeys. I think all my grandchildren will want a go at this.

Bought this for my Grandson quite a while ago now. He has finished playing with it now but it is so well made it has passed on to his younger sister who enjoys it now. Good for hand/eye co-ordination. I love Melissa & Doug products. Very well made.

Purchased for lady with Alzhiemers but she never got the hang of it. My three year old granddaughter likes it but it doesn't hold her attention for long. It's well made and strong but something a little bit boring about it.

All Melissa and Doug items I have purchased have been bright, good quality products, which will be used for many years, stored and then reused for future. This item was no exception the KIDS LOVE THEM.

Love this. Our two year old grandson finds it a nice change from the kindle when he comes to “nana’s owse” . Good to see a child having some fun away from a screen. Good condition and arrived on time.

Great learning even I and my husband have sat there with it.my 3 yr old calls it the meatballs game? He really enjoys trying to have a go anyway.my only niggle is there was one red ball missing.

Great little toy for my 4 year old grandaughter to take on car journeys. The balls are contained, and cannot be eaten by her younger brother. She loves it. Good quality, wooden board
