L’Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Shower Gel can be used as an all over shower body gel and shampoo. It comes in a chunky “300 ML” orange bottle with “100 MG Taurine” for a “wake up effect”. My wife thinks the rectangular bottle design is very “blokey!”The bottle says that it is great for those with a busy life where “coffees are just not enough to keep you awake”. It also says you can use the gel to [discover] “the boosting power of hydra energetic shower gel with Taurine, 100% crafted for men”. It is claimed to give an “instant shot of energy in your shower”But what is it like to use you ask? Well it can be used sparingly and lathers very well.So use a small amount and so it should last for quite a while. It does not have a drip stop valve on the nozzle, so watch out for losing the gel. When I use it I invert the bottle so the nozzle is at the top, which prevents wasting gel.I had not heard of “Taurine” before, so I looked it up on the Internet. It is an amino acid – a building block for protein. It was first extracted from oxen and hence Taurus the bull and Taurine. It is found in energy drinks and cosmetics. Amongst other things it is supposed to help cardiovascular function. It has a citrus type pleasant odour.Well I have worked my way through just over half the bottle now.I tend to have quite a quick shower –done in a minute – so I have not noticed any boost effect. I did try a few longer showers and came out very clean and refreshed, but not boosted. Perhaps the Taurine in energy drinks has a better impact. I would not know, as I do not drink them.If I had not read anything about the gel and simply used it what would I conclude? Well it lathers well, so it is long lasting. It is pleasant to use and I would probably get it again.

L'Oreal have a new range of men’s shower products out at the moment.I’ve had a look at a couple and this one is my favourite so far. This the Hydra Energetic has a powerful blast of Citrus- to my nose Tangerine and smells fabulous. It really will wake you up in the morning shower with its fabulous scent. It has added Taurine for the boost and this version matches up with a similar shaving gel by l’Oreal that I already have.I really love the scent and the taurine effect so this is a welcome addition to the range. No doubt at Christmas time you will be seeing a combination of these two in a gift pack.If you do it would make a fabulous present. The aroma and effects are that good. Its 3 in 1 so you can use it for your face, body and hair so the old “why take two bottles in to the shower?” question is solved. It boasts ‘Hydra Energetic’ in big bold white on a an orange background. And to reinforce the facts‘Taurine Shower together with ‘Wake Up Effect Concentrate’.Now hydra is water so this just means they have added some water to make up the formulae.Sounds a whole lot better that it is in effect I reckon. In use it is a good shower- well 3 in 1 gel that works well and lathers really well and did I reinforce that fabulous smell of Tangerine?Afterwards my body did indeed feel .. well good I was hydrated and my skin smoother which is a good thing to have when you either have dry skin or, like me, getting a bit older and the moisturising effect is needed.Afterwards you smell good and feel refreshed which is exactly what you are buying the stuff for in the first place isn’t it?The acid test for me is.“Would I buy this stuff again?”The answer is a firm ‘Yes’

The Men Expert range from L'Oreal has long been one I've been a fan of, with products designed for men across the range from washing, to moisturising and more. Having received their latest three shower gels with bold promises and interesting concoctions of things I don't even claim to understand, I jumped in the shower to try these out.Bottles first and all of the different shower gels come in chunky 300ml sizes with a hole on the bottom for easy dispensing. A see through packet means you can check the contents easily and a large hole means perhaps a little more than you want comes out. This particular supposed energy boosting version, promises a taurine kick to get you going in the morning. While I might not have been able to notice anything from the energy boost, it smells good and functions as a shower gel.. Soap effectiveness and spreading is also good, giving me confidence I have removed the dirt.Overall therefore, while the energy wasn't there, the main things I want from my shower gel - cleaning and fragrance - definitely were. It's as good as any other so makes it easy to recommend

A very pleasant men's shower gel, with an orange-ish, but quite masculine fragrance.I wondered if it would smell like a certain energy drink, as it has taurine in it, which is the same ingredient as the said drink. It does, a little, but the general overtone is orangey, with a pleasant after-scent. The smell does linger, after washing, so do be aware of this if using after-shave or a body spray. It's quite a runny gel, presumably so you will use more, as men tend not to use gel-saving shower puffs as much as women; it's easy to end up pouring out more product than you really wanted to use. It lathered well, as you would expect. Regarding the refreshing properties of taurine, that has to be a bit of a gimmick, but the fragrance certainly stimulates the senses. My adult son has tried other items in the L'Oreal Men Expert range and really liked them. This is relatively run of the mill as far as shower products go, but the bottle is striking and looks good in the bathroom.

First of all the smell is fantastic here. It has a bright citrus clementine fragrance that is up there with the nostril exciting smell of the Original Source lime shower gel, and whilst I find the Original Source to smell slightly less synthetic, I do like this Hydra Energetic fragrance too.It is thinner than the usual shower gel and lathers up well and the citrus smell is slightly amplified when applied. The main thing I wanted to say here though is that the presence of taurine is largely a gimmick. It is true that products with 1% taurine content do release the taurine into the skin, but only around half of said taurine is absorbed properly through the layers.I definitely didn't "feel" any energy as I would a cup of coffee. Taurine is an amino acid and found to be very beneficial as long as in normal doses, but this is skin absorbed so I really doubt anything is happening to any effect when that small amount does find its way through the layers of skin.

Like most other L'Oreal products I've tried, this shower gel is good quality and has a nice aroma. The smell here is a very punchy orange, which is quite a nice way to wake up your senses in the morning. The gel also contains taurine, a common ingredient in energy drinks, which may help explain why this product seems so good at waking up tired bodies. The gel lathers up really well, and a small squirt provides a good all-over wash, meaning this 300ml should last for at least 30 washes, I estimate. You can also use the gel in your hair and on your face, although personally, I just use this on my body, as I prefer exfoliating face wash and don't like to change my shampoo.Only criticism is the very square and bulky bottle, which takes up quite a lot of my wash bag when going swimming.

Very nice triple purpose shower gel. The Hydra Energetic O'real ME Shower Gel lathers up nicely. It left my skin feeling fresh and clean. Used it on my hair and had the same results as with my usual shampoo. What's more I even used it to shave with. Where it performed perfectly adequately, though perhaps not quite as well as a dedicated shaving gel. The gel leaves a mild tangy fragrance. Not at all overpowering and, according to my wife anyway, rather pleasant. My only niggle is (and I say this about most shower gels) is that the plastic bottle is not suitable for gripping with wet, soapy, slippery hands. So why oh why don't manufacturers like L'Oreal use a grippier plastic container for these types of products.

Well, it seem's that men's toiletries have now got into the bizarre claims that have plagued women's cosmetics since the year dot. "Energetic and explosive sensation" - well, energetic isn't a word to apply to my partner when he first wakes up, and really, I'd prefer not to have an explosion in the bathroom as it will only set off the smoke alarm...This is a pleasant enough shower gel - a nice citrussy/woody fragrance which lathers well. The gel itself is quite thin, so be sure to have your hand or sponge under the bottle if you're opening it from the bottom. I haven't noticed the taurine giving my partner "wings" - it still takes a lot of coffee to get him moving in the morning!

Like the whole of this new L'Oreal range, the scent hits you straight away - really zingy and refreshing, and as orangey as the packaging! It's a premium shower gel, and it feels like it - it's a real treat to use. It's perhaps not as viscous as other shower gels, but it lathers up nicely and leaves you feeling fresh and clean. The bottle is nice and large, too, so it'll last a while (worth bearing in mind in terms of price - it's actually pretty good value). Will definitely add this to my list of regular bathroom buys, as well as others in the range; if you like the tangerine smell of this one, you'll probably also love the green one (

This is combined body, face and hair wash that is targeted towards men. It comes in a modern, and almost industrial looking, 300ml bottle.I have used it a couple times now and find it works perfectly well as both a shower gel and shampoo and is ideal for lazy men such as myself who like only having to use one bottle in the shower. It lathers well and I expect it will last a long time. The tagline promises “a shot of energy”, and while it does have a pleasant citrus smell I can’t say that it has helped to wake me up any more than any other shower gel or shampoo would have.Overall a good product which I would use again.

This has to be one of my favourite shower gels I've discovered recently! This is in a big bottle but it does last (when you try to be frugal) but with just how nice this smells, I can't just justify a small dollop but I would say I use about 40mls and it cleans both my hair, face and my body. My face is quite sensitive and I do tend to get spots if I get a reaction. But with this product, I don't get it at all! I've even had comments on just how shiny/clean my face looks after putting this on. I'd definitely recommend getting a scrubber or a loofa to bring the scents into the skin.

26.6.2016

This is a very good quality shower gel that lathers up very well, only needing a small amount per usage. It's got a fresh scent which did make me feel energised when using it, but I didn't notice any other difference from the taurine ingredient. It's a very nice gel, and I would buy again if the price was lower. Yes you get 300ml but personally I would rather buy 3 X £1 shower gels for half the price of this. I guess the larger bottle is better for the environment but it does limit you when you want to chuck it in an overnight or gym bag as it's quite bulky and heavy

27.6.2016

...I'm not sure whether you can have 'luxury' shower gel although this is certainly a reasonable price as the 'Cool' version in the range is twice as much... The size is good and it certainly feels really refreshing and gets your wires buzzing. Good, but not overpowering, smell. Mrs Scoop commented on the 'waft' as I got out of the shower. Not a Lynx moment but nice all the same. So, this is really nice and a large size for the home shower, too big for travelling.

29.6.2016

WOW! This is BRILLIANT. I feel both awake and manly in the mornings, which is stupendous since I'm a thirty-something woman who hates waking up. If I keep on using this I may even be able to grow my long-awaited beard! Perhaps even become a morning person! Let's not get too carried away, though.Smells great, washes fine, no signs of turning me into either a man or a bull. Perfectly nice smell. Not a single thing to complain about!

23.6.2016

Its shower gel pure and simple, however the marketing material would lead you to believe it can give you super powers . The gel is a 3 in 1 which can be used hair, face and body, although I prefer to use a separate shampoo, however if travelling this is useful in not having to carry a separate shampoo. Overall refreshing citrus scented shower gel helping to wake you in the morning. Would recommend and buy again.
