I've never used a multi-use gel before, so was eager to try this out. The bottle states that this 'carbon shower' gel is a body wash, face wash, shaving gel, shampoo and moisturiser, so I'll go through these uses.First of all the smell is very pleasant, and definitely the nicest of this ME range. It's actually my favourite product in Loreal's ME shower gel range actually. It does have carbon powder in the ingredients. Though it doesn't specify how much it is enough to give the gel an opaque kind of grey milky colour. As a body wash it is nice to use. It lathers into a very slippery soap and a little blob goes a long way. It washes off quickly and your hands are left feeling moisturised and yet dry (in a good way)and nice smelling. As a face wash a pea sized amount will do and, again, it easily washes off. Some face washes leave my skin feeling a bit oily, but not this time . In fact, this is probably the nicest face wash I've used in a while and this is only one fifth of the gel's use.The gel as a shaving cream is in no way the best I've used, but it is certainly serviceable. It lathers up on stubble well enough and though it fades after about 20 seconds it still allowed me to get a perfectly normal shave from it without having to reapply. It also feels nice and light on your skin and obviously the moisturising properties play into this as well. I have relatively sensitive skin, which this gel left without irritation.I wouldn't use this for a shampoo, but that's only because I already have a specialised shampoo that I already use. I did try it out though and, like the shaving gel use, it is perfectly fine. It didn't irritate my scalp or leave my hair feeling greasy, as some of these shower gels purporting to be a shampoo often do.Lastly, the moisturiser. This is the only thing out of the five that I wouldn't use it for. It applied to dry hands perfectly well and doesn't lather up, but feels quite sticky. Even when airing your hands out you still don't lose that stickiness and I had to wash it off. But saying that, with the above four uses, my skin definitely has a nice feeling after use.The thing that ties all these together is the smell, which is very nice. It's fragrant without being overpowering and fresh, almost fruity, yet has a neutrality about it which I really like.I have to say that this is one of the rare times when a company has got this specific target market right, with no lies. This is perfectly suited to those in a rush in the morning, who don't have time to mess around with a shower gel, then a shampoo, then a shaving gel. Especially if they need to do it all in the space of five minutes in the shower. I benefited from it, I like using it for all but the moisturiser (and shampoo, through preference) so I'd heartily recommend it to those in a similar position.

Since using an alternative product (which I won't name here) that I could no longer get hold of, I have been searching and trying all sorts of different shower gel products to find a consistent replacement for!I swear I have tried all the other L'oreal shower gels as well as plenty of other brands and could not find something I was completely satisfied with, until now!For some reason I omitted trying this product initially when going through the other L'oreal shower gels until my wife had a Charcoal based face wash that I really got on well with, even though it was designed for the ladies! I then spotted this in my local Tesco on offer and thought "What the hell, let's give this one a bash,it's only £1.50!". I picked it up, and gave it the obligatory, 'sniff test' before popping it in my trolley. Waow! It passed that with flying colours, what a gorgeous smell! I understand that smell is very much an individual preference thing, but for me, this is a wonderful, fresh yet woody smell, very masculine!Upon my first usage, I was impressed with how thick and viscous the gel is! Too often am I greeted with a slimy gel that slides straight off of your wet mitts onto the shower tray "great!". This stuff applies very well and feels gorgeous on your skin and very moisturising. A little will go a long way with this stuff, so feel free to use this sparingly. That gorgeous smells lingers perfectly after the shower, just enough that you can detect your own wonderful musk now having had this stuff on you, but it is not overpowering. It has also passed the 'wife test', who loves how I smell when coming out the shower, so we all know how important that is, as many other products I tried failed this test!I do not use this as a shampoo but have done so on occasion, and although I love this product, I much prefer it has a body wash than on my hair, but it does wash it nicely without hair feeling brittle like it does if you use a conventional shower gel, but I do believe that my two in one shampoo and conditioner is much nicer for my barnet.I also believe it is still a good idea to moisturise after use on the face as well, we should all be moisturising, gents!I have used this to shave and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised, it worked superbly and will not be buying any more shaving foam. This is a terrific product guys and I cannot recommend it enough. I use it primarily as a body wash but if you want to try and use it on your face and hair or to shave (I recommend trying that), then you may find yourself being pleasantly surprised, but I feel a dedicated face wash and shampoo cannot be beat by any 'all-in-one' product, but as a body wash, this is the best one I can find at a very affordable price.

I've never used L'Oreal Men Expert Shower Gel before but have used many other products from the same range. The most noticeable thing about this shower gel is the size, at 300ml it's larger than many others that I currently use so should hopefully last a while. This particular one is described as Total Clean and uses Carbon to amongst its many other ingredients to act as a super magnet against dirt and grime. How credible that is I don't know, but it certainly sounds good for marketing purposes. The gel itself is pretty similar to another brand that I use that also has carbon among its champion ingredient. It has a nice smell to it and one that lasts as well, many cheaper shower gels that I've used in the past don't seem to linger afterwards. It lathers up easily and doesn't over dry the skin, I generally suffer from dry skin anyway so there is a small amount of dryness, but I've found that's unavoidable no matter what product I use. I will say that you have to be careful when squeezing the bottle as it can come out a bit fast if you're not careful and you end up using more than you would like.Would I use it again, yes but I'm not sure about the price. Over £6 for a shower gel is a bit much for an everyday brand, I realise it's slightly larger than most but I generally pay around £2-£3 for other competitive brands. I'll keep an eye out in the supermarket and other places when I run out and if I can find it at a similar price to what I usually pay then I'd quite happily use it again in the future.

I wasn't too convinced with the claims as a 5 in 1, but I kept an open mind. It is a creamy gel that lathers up nicely, rinses off the body without issue and I haven't had any irritation as a result of using it.As a shower gel it is perfectly fine and no worse than other quality brands. It leaves the skin feeling fresh and clean, just what you want and without an overpowering scent. As a facial cleanser it is just the same as it is on the rest of the body. If you have troublesome skin, you may want to stick to a specific facial scrub or treatment. As a shampoo it feels a little slimy on the hair, but rinses out cleanly and easily and leaves the hair feeling clean and surprisingly soft afterwards. As a shave gel,it is OK in emergencies or where you just want to take one bottle away on holiday. One could argue any soap will do, but this is a little more lubricating than soft soap and not as drying as some shower gels. I wouldn't want to shave too often using this alone, but it is OK when the need arises. As a moisturiser, I can't say that it made my skin feel like it has been moisturised, but also I can't say that my skin dried out. If you want moisturised skin, try a body moisturiser, but as above it is better than nothing and ideal when you want to lighten the load when traveling.

I’ve never used an all-in-one like this before, nor for that matter have I ever used a moisturiser; I have sometimes used a combination shower gel/shampoo, as my short sparse ageing hair doesn’t need fancy hair products. However, I was impressed by this one. It smells good, and my wife commented that the smell remained some hours after I’d used it; I haven’t got the world’s best sense of smell myself, but I know that the scent of cheaper shower gels doesn’t last long. My skin did feel smoother afterwards, presumably because of the moisturiser. I can’t see I could be bothered with using a separate moisturiser, but I might be tempted to buy all-in-one products like this in future; the extra cost is outweighed by the fact that you’re not paying for three separate products, and to me it’s a much easier way of applying moisturiser. As for the carbon, does it make any difference? The jury seems to be out on the benefits of activated carbon in general, but I tend to be convinced by a suggestion that the low concentration, and the short contact time of a shower, will not produce much perceptible effect, but I can’t get too excited about that either way.

Having been introduced to the Expert range previously and rescued from 42 years of flailing around with ordinary soaps, I was intrigued to try this Expert shower gel. 5 in 1 - body, face, hair, shaving and moisturising - a slight over-egging of the pudding - either that or I had been in horrendous error for the last three decades. I had been using shower gel assuming it was for body, face and hair. I had occasionally even shaved with it. I had however never used it as a moisturiser!Enter this mighty 5 in 1 - capable of all 5. It saved me from carrying all those other bottles for face, hair, shaving, and moisturising--well actually, only that other bottle of shower gel--into the shower.Mockery aside - it washes, smells nice, without being overpowering, lathers well, and due to its thicker consistency it does well for shaving. It also seems to keep dandruff at bay which does tend to return when I use shower gel instead of a decent shampoo. As for moisturising, I'm a man and haven't any concept of how you measure that. Maybe that expertise will come with use.

- Great scent - as soon as you go out of the shower people might think you have perfumed yourself (fresh scent), it is not harsh or long lasting however, just as all shower gels for that matter- Good packaging design - also functional, bottle stays with the cap down so you will end up using every single drop and it looks good as well.- Multi use - if you really must, you can use it as shampoo or as face wash as well. Not tested as I'm not an adept of the 'Swiss knife concept' when it comes to cosmetics.- Performance - good lather, loads of foam and goes a long way. Colour is quirky - a grey silver metal like.- Delivery & packaging - fast but the product comes as is and might leak inside theamazon cardboard box.- Price and value - usually more expensive than other brands but lasts longer and if you use subscribe and save with prime it is a no-brainer.4/5 I would recommend this. If this review helped you please consider marking it as helpful.

I've tested a few L'Oreal shower range products but this one is the best of them all. It is a 5-in-1 so can be used for body, face, hair, shaving and moisturising.Body: Initially feels a bit slimy but it then soon washes off. This is actually quite useful because you find you don't waste as much and doesn't fall off. Smell is nice and you do feel fresh after using it.Face: Goes on nice and washes off much better than some products so you just have to sick your head under the shower.Hair: No complaints, nice smell, goes on fine, lathers up nice. Personally I will still use my main shampoo but is a useful product for going away to reduce the number of bottles etc.Shave: It's okay but not a decent replacement as the lather soon dies down. However, it is usable.Moisturise: Goes on nicely but isn't great at making your skin feel moisturised.All-in-all, decent price and does what it says. Quite impressed.

Needing something to use for odd weekends away etc, I stumbled across this. It's not that expensive in my opinion and lasts a reasonable time. It's quite runny, which helps it last better, but doesn't foam like mad so you risk being disappointed if that's what you want. However it does smell fresh, does leave skin feeling clean and soft (no dry tightness on face etc) and my shortish hair smells clean and isn't too unruly afterwards. The missus used it for shaving her legs (with her razor....for once..!) and said whilst not quite as good as her usual shaving gel she'd happily use it on holiday and it left her skin smooth with no nasty razor burn/rash.So, if space is at a premium, I'd definitely use it for hair, face and body wash and probably a wet shave as well.

I was actually very surprised by this shower gel. When you open the lid you're hit by the manly scent and greeted by saying thick grey creamy gel which works onto the skin very easily. It does foam up a little but not a huge amount so you can use this while shaving as it doesn't irritate but may not be good enough for the face. I've also used this on my hair and while I found it certainly is very moisturizing on the skin, this wasn't so true on my hair which was calling out for a conditioner. I can't say I really noticed anything different from this gel though in terms of the 'carbon' effect. I am left feeling clean, it has a nice scent but doesn't really meet my needs as a shampoo.I do like it but I don't find it is really anything that special.

This is a great product which promises to clean ever part of you with consummate ease! It's a very "manly" product which squeezes out in a sort of gun mental shade of silvery grey and is quite subtly scented. I've used it mainly as shower gel, but it seems to perform all its promised duties pretty well. I will probably stick to shaving foam, but I got a decent enough shave from this (good if you're in a hurry to get everything done whilst showering). The bottle is a pretty generous size too, and as a little goes a long way, this should last even the keenest of showers a fair long while.Plus, and always important with a men's product,it looks pretty bada**s as far as shower gels go.A top notch product for all your washing needs!

When I first picked this up, I thought how can a 5-in-1 product even work? I was a bit sceptical! This was this first 5-in-1 shower product I’d come across. It’s versatility means you can take care of body, face, hair, shaving and moisturise in one step. As you might of guessed from it’s name,it has a cool grey carbon steel colour and it’s quite thick and a bit gloopy in consistency! After using it for the past few weeks, I’d say this the perfect product for your gym bag or when you need to travel light. I found it worked well on face, body and hair, it lathered up well and left skin and hair feeling clean and soft and smells nice and masculine too! Although, I have to say,I do prefer to use a lighter formula face wash.

I like the idea of a 5 in one product, but I wasn't expecting that it could be as good as the individual products that are designed for the specific purpose. In fact although I usually use a combined shampoo and conditioner, and rarely bother with shower gel, I wasn't convinced that could act as a moisturiser at all. In practice I think my scepticism is justified, this is not going to replace that particular product. That said this is a good product if you are travelling and don't want to take multiple bottles with you. In use it is pleasant to smell - but nothing out of the ordinary. It lathers well and doesn't leave any residue in your hair. Overall I am pleasantly surprised.

I couldn't believe that one product could be so versatile so I put it to the test.As a shower gel it produced a rich lather leaving the skin feeling fresh with a pleasant aroma. Same result as a face cleanser. While folically challenged, I still like a good shampoo and this gave the desired result. Not quite sufficient lather as a shaving gel. I think I will on most occasions revert to my conventional shaving gel. For a traveller however this is the answer to most washing situations in one product. It is produced by a recognised quality manufacturer and appears to contain only the best ingredients as one would expect.A reasonable cost for a quality product.

Been using this for a bit, because it sounded an interesting solution to the dryness I've been having in my skin. I think it's quite a new product, but am happy to have the opportunity to review it too.As with a lot of these types of product, I'm a little skeptical of the bigger claims made for how it functions, but what I will say is that it definitely leaves you feeling nice and clean and skin is a little softer than usual. It's useful because I like to shower in the morning, but leave early, so don't have time to moisturise, which would sometimes be useful. This leaves you feeling a bit more supple, so is great.Recommended!
