My niece lives in Scotland and she won't start School until she is 5 1/2 but she is eager to learn to read and has been getting frustrated that she can't. She has learnt to write her name and a few words and recognises some words but wants to read her own storybooks and my letters. This was perfect, she just needed a little help knowing which options to choose for what she wanted and then she was away, she's turned 4 now and no longer frustrated. She is gradually picking up more of the story and recognising words. It is a great combination of speaking and showing words in a fun story and a perfect no stress way of learning to read and improve reading with the higher levels.

I am updating my review - I cannot really review the product as it does not work on our system but was informed that I am bringing down the rating of the game becasue we can't use it... Which, I still find valid, we can't use it but I can see the big EXPLORER on the box, and the words in the decription did state both when I purchased, so just to keep the warning before another parent purchases in error."Features 100 early-reading words and teaches comprehension, sight words, phonics rules and decoding skills that works with LeapPad & Explorer learning tablets"This will not work for Leapster Explorer, only LeapPad. :(

We purchased this for our 4 year old who loves his leap pad and has learned so much from it. Please note - IT IS NOT A GAME IT IS AN EBOOK, but there are loads of games along the way. There are various reading modes, ie the book can read to you or you can record your voice reading it. There are two stories in this, which are rightfully so about half the length of a standard ebook and the games relate to the stories. Ideal for a young leap pad user. Characters Leap, Tad and Lily from other leap frog products are the characters in these stories. Recommended!

When I bought various e books for the leap pad I thought they would just read to my son and highlight the words. I was unaware that they have hidden activities within the pages, boosting your child's involvement with reading. My son is excited to learn to read now and has taken a more hands on approach when we are reading our regular books. By sounding out words and flooding me with questions. It has made learning how to read more exciting for him and that's priceless. What a great product!

I got this because we got my 6 year old the LeapPad Explorer, but I was afraid it would be too "young" for him, so my plan was to allow my 3 year old to play with it. My 6 year old actually enjoys it. There is more than just one adventure on the story, which is nice. I'm glad that I purchased it, and I'm pleased with the low pricing that Amazon has on the Ultra eBooks, compared to other stores and LeapFrog.com

Kind of mixed reviews. I thought it was the best present I gave this year. It is, however, on the shelf and only allowed to be played with under supervision of busy Mom. Do note that the school district in their town and the one in mine are getting into the IPad and computer use really, really soon in the child's schooling. Might have to grow into this a little.

bought this game for my 4 year old grandson.i give this toy a big a+.this seems to have really really advanced his learning skills and vocabulary in a short period of time.in less than a month you can see the difference with a little guidance.your child will change thier manor of speech as well.best dollar i ever invested.

This is a great little learning activity. It kept my son completely occupied when it was too icy to go outside. The only problem with it is he did all the levels in like two days. I thought it would take him longer to go through it all. Yes, he keeps playing with it but its not much of a challenge for my prekindergartener.

There are two stories in this catriage. One is in the Jungle, and the other is the Ocean. And there are games in the stories, teaching letters. Catriage is made in Indonesia. $9.50 is a fair price for the game. I won't pay 20 bucks on it as the stories are somewhat short.

LeapFrog does a great job with their Reading Collection series. At first I thought a cartridge dedicated to reading would be boring for my kids but they really like these. Even the older kids will listen to the stories even though they aren't interested in the LeapPad.

Daughter seems to quite like this; but the two stories are shorter than I expected. Having in-built games within the story is a nice touch. It is for sale currently for £9 but I certainly wouldn't pay £20 for this like some vendors are asking.

this product is for 4-7 and even though my son doesn't get the whole gist of the game. He loves the story and to try and play the games with it. As he grows, he will get to master those reading skills, so this game will be good for a long time

This is the first ebook I ordered for my son's leappad. I was surprised at how many interactive lessons it has. My 4yo really loves it and is learning how to identify words quickly with the games that are on it. Definately worth it.

We just got the leappad this past christmas for my 5 year old and this book was great. This provides another to read a book and so convenient to bring along. The only downside is the catridge is very small so it can easily get lost.

Got a really good deal on this for Xmas. My son likes playing the games on the e-book. This is our first ultra ebook. The ultra ebook is not just an ebook but it also has many learning games that can be played. Not bad for $6.00.
