I have bought "equivalent" cables for less than this one costs, but this feels a lot more solid and gives me confidence that it will last longer. It is also USB-3 compatible, which many cheaper cables are not. Whether that actually makes much difference to you depends what you want to use it for and whether transfer speeds are really important; i.e if you are going to transfer large volumes of data. The cable is very short, but most of these adaptor cables are, for good reason. If you connect a USB memry stick to your tablet you don't want it dangling on the end of a long cable, and if you are using this to connect something such as an external disk drive or keyboard you would attach the device'scable to this one.Make sure you check before buying whether this will actually fit your intended device. This does not fit all phones and tablets as the description may lead you to believe. In my case this is compatible with my phone but does not fit my tablet as they have slightly different sized USB sockets - so much for standardisation.Check the spec for your device before buying.

This video adaptor does exactly what it says it will - it plugs into a USB port and allows an older machine to connect to a high resolution display port monitor/TV. This is great for in meeting rooms or shared environments, allowing generic laptops to connect to your monitor/screen. The reason that I've not given it 5 stars is that to use the device, you also need the required driver installed on your laptop which can be obtained from Kensington's website or it can be loaded onto a USB stick to take with the device...however this adds an extra step to getting the device up and running on new laptops, whereas I've seen/used similar devices that contain the USB functionality to store their own driver. With regard to other reviews,I believe that Kensington produce this device in two different formats - HDMI or Display Port. This is the Display Port variant and will not connect to an HDMI port!Overall, this is a useful accessory that does exactly the job that it's meant to do.

I'm using this with Mac OSX 10.7.5.The VM4000 doesn't look like much at first glance, but maybe that's just me, where I just don't like the look of black hardware, again, probably because of my silver MacBook. But it is very solid and the best made MDP-HDMI I've ever used, and I've used a few.It worked straight away for me, without the need to install anything, so if you are using a Mac this will be of no surprise to you. I assume you'll need to install a couple of drivers on a Windows platform. This is backwards compatible, so it works just like any other MDP-HDMI on my non-retina MacBook, but it does have that next level, where my newer retina MacBook signal is transformed to my 4K TV.It really is a huge difference. Of course, make sure you have a fast and good quality HDMI to match this, but I am very happy. This will last a long time too, and without the need to upgrade. If you aren't using Thunderbolt, this is the next best thing.

The Kensington VP4000 Display Port to HDMI 4K Video Adapter is a good quality adapter. It converts from a display port, found on some laptops and computers, to a female HDMI port found on most television sets, or monitors. The cable itself is quite short, so you need another HDMI cable to reach from the adapter to the monitor you are using. The display port has a nice clip on the end, that keeps the cable locked securely into the socket. It worked first time with no setup - both audio and video were fine. This isn't just a cable, by any means, as it contains protocol conversion electronics. You can buy a lesser known brand, and probably pay less, but the quality of this product is high, and I have no problems recommending it. My only disappointment is that you will need to have an additional HDMI cable available in order to use this. I think it would have been nicer if they had included that alongside it.

The Kensington VM4000 Mini Display Port to HDMI 4K Video Adaptor is a really useful connector for devices like Surface Pro computers and Macbooks - devices that have mini display ports. I am using the connector with a Surface Pro. The connector is a very useful bit of kit for me: I work in a higher education institution and in my work I often want to connect my device to a HDMI port and can't. This means that I can quickly connect this up to the HDMI cable and I have my Surface Pro working with a bigger monitor, project or TV screen. I haven't got access to a 4K screen but the adaptor works flawlessly with HD screens.Kensington are a brand that I have used previously and I have never been disappointed.

You know those frustrating moments when you find that you want to connect a Phone, Computer, e-Pad to something else, but you need an adaptor. Solve the problem with this Kensington CA1000-C USB-C (Female) to USB-A (Male) Adaptor. This product is well made and robust enough for every day use. Small enough to tuck away into your desk drawer, car 'glove box' even, and keep for those moments that arise. The CA1000 USB-C to USB-A Adapter allows you to connect your USB-C device to a keyboard, mouse, hard drive or other peripheral accessory with a standard USB-A port. It's fast too, capable of USB 3 Data transfer speeds; very useful for larger files like photographs.

Very handy USB C to normal USB 2 (or3) adaptor. For reference USB C is the non-Apple equivalent of the Lightning connector. This will enable a regular USB male to male cable to be used with the newer devices using the USB C sockets.if possible use a USB £ cable to connect - they have a Blue plastic 'tongue'. v 2 are white. Same applies on your computer. As it is USB 3 capable, the data exchange speed is phenomenal. The length of this short adptor cable is about 3" or 7.52cm to the 'yooth'.Well made and comes in an oversized cardboard box, full of expensive air to avoid tea-leaves pocketing the thing in stores. The packaging is re-recyclable.

As it says, the first USB-C devices arrive, in our case a phone. This is a simple adaptor cable that allows the old fitting to be used on the new. It seems to work fine. Amazon, I understand, are only stocking USB that comply with USB C specs; their new terms specifically state that prohibited listings include: “Any USB-C (or USB Type-C) cable or adapter product that is not compliant with standard specifications issued by ‘USB Implementers Forum Inc’.” (Guardian 30 March 16). So there shouldn't be a problem with this - although having used Kensington products for many years I wouldn't expect any.

This is a very simple plug and play device that can turn your laptop into a 4K HD device. Simply plug one end into a USB 3.0 port and the other end into the HDMI input of your monitor and the gizmo does the rest. Once plugged in you can use the monitor settings of your desktop to control the monitor, either as a second monitor or as a mirror of the existing image. Included is a USB 3 cable but no HDMI cable, a bit stingy for the price being asked.A simple and effective gadget that is very easy to use and works well 5 stars.

24.6.2016

Simple, if inelegant solution to connecting your display-ported laptop to a TV or monitor that has an HDMI input. Worked fine with my laptop but unfortunately my new Windows tablet has a mini-display port - so do be aware of this difference and check it out. Of course you will also need an HDMI lead and added to the price of this adaptor it all makes for a rather expensive. Check whether you really need or want 4K for your TV/monitor and if you don't then save money by looking for a cheaper adaptor.

From what I can tell this is essentially an external video card to enable you to use another monitor. That's it reallyThis fact that it's 4K is probably irrelevant for most people. One end is USB 3 so you'll need a USB 3 cable to get the maximum benefit. The other end is Displayport NOT HDMI.You will need a HDMI adapter if you want to use this on a TV but many PC monitors now have DisplayportsOverall this is an OK product if you want to 'upgrade' your output on desktop or laptop

The Kensington VM4000 Mini Display Port to HDMI 4K Video Adapter arrives very nicely packaged in with description details on the outer packaging. The Adapter has appearance of a quality build and durable construction, its very well made. In practice the cable functions as one would expect and th. display content is of a very high quality. I was very pleased with the end result. If considering the puchase the end result would justify the expenditure of this adapter/

This is good for what it is. However...I have a PC, sporting a 750Ti Nvidia card. It's good, but struggles a bit with higher resolutions.Plugging this into my laptop and the other end to a hi res monitor does give higher resolutions, which is nice. I had hoped it would allow me to get 4K content on my TV. This doesn't seem to work, unless I'm doing something wrong. Multi-screen stuff, great. Other things, less so.Good, but be careful of your expectations.

This works okay. It was easy to set up and configure and so far I haven't had any issues with it. The build quality seems pretty decent and I haven't had particular problems with Kensington stuff in the past.I would say that you should check carefully that this will work with your laptop and is compatible. The claims about productivity are a little strange but leaving that aside this does seem to work quite well. It is a bit pricey though

I got this primarily to hook up USB 3 devices to my Dell XPS 13. NB Thunderbolt 3 ports on laptops tend to be USB-C and should be compatible. It works a treat when I need to hook up multiple devices, particularly when I am doing USB 3 to USB 3 transfers (ie between hard drives) which is super useful in my line of work. The cable is small and sturdy, which is perfect for my needs. Been using for months now without a problem.
