The age of the budget mid-range PCs is here!We now have sub £100 Intel quad cores, capable of running high setting 1080p gaming without any issues. It's a shame that the H300 series motherboards took so long to release but once they become readily available you could have a nice cpu/mobo combo for about £160-180. Fantastic!Don't hesitate to grab one of these for any build looking to game at 1080p.The i3-8100 will drive most single graphics card.Price-wise, you'd want to pair this with anything up to and including the RX580/GTX1060 but make sure to grab at least a i5 8400 if you want to push for a GTX1070 graphics card combo. You could argue that the Ryzen 3 counterpart is also a good deal but when it comes to gaming, intel has always been a winner for me.Big thumbs up for me.

Perfect purchase, finally decided to upgrade from my awful a8-6600K system and couldn't be happier.I am able to Stream and play games at the same time, edit video footage and run Photoshop and illustrator with ease. I also use my PC for development work and even with chrome tabs open in abundance even whilst trying to game and stream I'm yet to see this go over ~75% usage apart from the full load stress test i put it under when testing it upon initial purchase. I have mine over clocked to 4.2 standard, but i have had it at 4.8 before it got a little scetchy. but power for value this is your best option as an all round chip in my opinion. there's not a lot it can't cope with.

Though I bought this CPU from another site while the stocks were low and the prices on this site from other retailers were massively inflated, I feel that it is great value for the money. It plays a lot of the games at a decent FPS along with my GTX 1050Ti, and it will last me for a couple of years. When my little brother wants to build a PC I would recommend this to him too, as long as the prices aren't too high. For anyone else looking for a midrange CPU, don't overlook this one. Depending on the tasks you're doing feel free to compare this to a Ryzen 5 2600, both pricing and performance and get whatever suits your pocket.

Purchased for a home-build PC for photographic work, where I wanted performance but was not interested in playing with overclocking. With a 1TB NVMe M.2, 32GB RAM and fast GPU editing is blistering fast. However, the supplied cooling fan is totally insufficient. The processor regularly exceeds 95 degrees C when scrolling through processed RAW files! I would advise investing in an aftermarket cooler to prevent the processor throttling its throughput. There are plenty out there to choose from.

I got this CPU at a really good price, and while I haven't done a lot of gaming or processor intensive work it does much better than an old i5 that I had in my previous PC.Gaming wise it will run Fortnite and similar games (I'm using motherboard onboard graphics) and it doesn't struggle too much.Easy to install, comes with the fan and it was just so easy to install. Definitely recommend if you don't want to spend a fortune on and i5 or i7 8th generation and not a heavy gamer

I used this with a Gigabyte H31M S2H motherboard in a PC that I put together. It was easy to fit, however I did practice by installing a similar cpu on an older motherboard. The method was the same and easy to do. Watching Carey Holzman's Youtube videos helped. I have no interest in gaming so I cannot help with stars for gaming. The supplied fan was fairly quiet - no doubt, spending loadsa cash on a better fan would help, but the one supplied was OK for me and was easy to fit.

Bought this CPU when it first came out as at the time it was the winner of the great Gaming CPU battle - didn't have quite the core count of the Ryzens but beat them on the sheer clock speed.Managed to get mine clocked to 5GHz on all cores using an AIO. Had to find the right balance between heat and voltage but have got there. For raw speed it is great and paired with 32Gb of RAM I can run multiple apps and games at the same time, all running as smooth as silk. All good

More than happy to pay massively over the odds for a processor that should cost under £350. Really pleased that intel decided to release a CPU weeks or months before they actually had sufficient stock available just to stick it to AMD. Big thumbs up to Intel!I'd have paid ten times the mrsp. AMD didn't do anything like this did they recently.....oh wait.......Now I'm confused... Intel and AMD are just as bad as each other.. how can that be?

My upgrade to this CPU was from an Intel i5 6500 3.2Ghz (4 Cores). These are some of the performance differences I got.Gaming:PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds +10/20fpsSquad +30/60fpsArnold Rendering:Before Upgrade - 720p image, 4 AA Samples, no SSS - 12minsAfter Upgrade - 1080p image, 4 AA Samples, SSS - 4 minsOverall very happy, 6 Cores is definitely a big improvement for rendering from 4 cores, and the clock speed's not bad either!

The best CPU I have ever purchased! Didnt get it from Amazon as they don't have any stock until next year but got one from another well known pc shop here in the UK at £425 with some Free harry bo! lolThis this CPU you well amazing..... it super fast rendering 4k files. its super fast with all the latest games! what more could you want.If you want the best CPU for gaming and multitasking this is the CPU to own.

6 cores and twelve threads 95 Watt TDP processor. With a GeForce GTX 1080 installed / 32 GB memory dual m.2 970 pro this thing takes off like a rocket hitting 4.7mhz stock. cpu does get a bit hot, but, after de-liding, i'm hitting about 50 - 60 degrees running a H100i v2. Overall, i'm happy with the i7 8700k, this is a fantastic processor that will hold its own for a few more years.

In the past its always been that i3 processors where simply terrible. Lower powered and useless for all but the most simple of tasks. However with the raise of the Quad core i3-8100 I can finally recommend buying an i3 processor! This is now my go to processor for media PCs or streaming boxes, more than enough power to trans-code 1080p video and serve up multiple streams at once!

I got lucky and got a golden sample. It is running at 5GHz. really fast CPU at a good price. I choose this over the I5 8400 as 4 Cores at High speed are better than 6 cores at slower speed and will until a new Games console comes out. Did a test against my friends PC on 17 games and the i2 8350 k at 5ghz as faster then the i5 8400 on all games at 5ghz.

This i3 is a great little cpu, runs very well and temps are low. I used the stock cooler. This is ideal for all types of every day pc use.Runs most general games average fps, paired with a decent gpu it'd perform well.Decent budget build cpu but remember this isn't like a i7 8700k or 9900k so don't expect 200fps but a good all rounder.

Wow this is so fast. Nothing slows it down. Puts my old Haswell chip to shame. So pros. Great for gaming. Not too bad at crypto mining. Almost £2 per day. Cpu alone. Using 5 threads at high intensity.Great overclocker. Just finished a stress at 5.4ghz trying to get to 5.5ghz. Anyway this coupled with a 1080ti are a perfect match.
