So, this renewed review is a three parter; My opinion a week after first wearing it. What the sample receivers thought. Then most importantly, what the girlfriend thought! -So a week after my initial 3/5 review, it's grown on me a little, I think i've gotten used to it, and the once overwhelming sweet smell seems far more subtle. It's quite a warm and deep fragrance without being over powering. -The second part of the review relates to what my brother and dad thought, we had gone out for a meal and I was wearing it, during the meal I got them to have a sniff and see what they thought to it.My dad thought it was just the sort of thing he'd look to wear, and asked what it was - Obviously i jumped in with the tag line - "Hugo Boss - The Scent, I got it as a free sample!!". My brother was a little more unsure, he mimicked my initial reaction and said it smelt a little sweet, regardless, i gave them both a sample phial to try out for themselves, a few days later my dad told me if I was short of ideas of what to get him for christmas (It's months away man!) then that'll do nicely. -Finally, the all important girlfriend test! - Now usually when i put one of my aftershaves on, she comments "Ooo, you smell nice, which have you got on". - But I had wore this 4 times before it came up, and the reason it came up is because she saw the little freebie pack, and asked what it was like. I replied that i'd been wearing it for 4 days now so she should know! With that she came close and had a good sniff about, and she thought it was really nice - However, I had either been too conservative putting it on or it's far more subtle to other people (Although, i usually have the EDT sprays, put a few sprays on me, then one or two on my top too, obviously this was impossible to do with the phials). So to summarise, I would say with a week of wearing it on and off, i'd give it a solid 3.5/5, maybe just scraping a 4/5 - It's not my usual scent, nor would i go out of my way to buy it, however if it was on offer, or I was given it has a gift, i certainly wouldn't object to wearing it.From other peoples reaction I would suggest that while it's a fairly subtle fragrance it does last well throughout the day, and it's initial sweet tones tend to die down to a more balanced warm scent. While i wouldn't recommend people rush out there to buy it, I would suggest given the chance they see if any shops have the testers out to give a few squirts! Have a walk around, go for a coffee, give it chance to settle down and give yourself a good sniff! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I am in no way an expert in aftershaves. I like what I like and I very rarely deviate from my regular spritz. That may be all about to change as I have now discovered BOSS The Scent.Starting off, I was unsure about the name of BOSS' newest fragrance. It didn't jump out at me as seductive or new, rather slightly bland and unimaginative. It didn't evoke much confidence. When it arrived, I was impressed with the design of the packaging, the colours were simple yet effective but it is difficult to judge based on a sample as you can't get a feel for the overall bottle design. Having seen the bottle design now, I'm not blown away, but it's a perfect example of why not to judge a book by it's cover. That first time that I opened the bottle I fell in love with it.The fragrance jumped out and invigorated my senses. I know how cliché that sounds but having used the same aftershave for approximately 5 years now, this blew me away. I immediately applied it to the key areas (wrists, neck etc.) and practically seduced myself. The scent is subtle and doesn't overpower you but is just enough to get your attention. It's quite a soft, calming fragrance yet it's filled with masculinity. It's seductive in a suave, quiet and gentlemanly way rather than a childish, over-the-top and 'in your face' kind of way. And this was reflected by the attention that I received from it.My work colleagues were asking me numerous questions about the new fragrance and some of my female co-workers would even ask me to reapply The Scent throughout the day so that they could be seduced by it over and over. I'm obviously not saying that just by wearing this fragrance, you will have a crowd of women wanting your attention. From my experience, it doesn't hurt to have a nice aftershave on wherever you go and if I had to choose one for seductive purposes (or any other purpose for that matter), BOSS The Scent would be that one and it will definitely be on my wish list this Christmas. I've only purchased one Boss fragrance in the past, namely Boss in Motion. I didn’t really take to it and never purchased it again as it wasn’t intriguing enough. However, Boss The Scent though smells much more compelling and more exotic and I’ve regularly gone back to smell it from the sample bottles even after wearing it.To give it a fair trial I replaced my usual fragrance with The Scent, for about 5 days. The composition of the fragrance of ginger, maninka with leathery notes is enticing. It does smell like a relatively premium scent; warm and spicy and intriguing enough to demand closer inspection. I hadn't heard of the maninka tree so I’ll take their word for it as to what that may smell like. The scent did not last as long on my skin as I would have liked.Within an hour, it was hard to pick up the scent but temperature will have a played a factor in this. The longevity was better at night, when it has been cooler.I received a few compliments at work and when going out while wearing it, which is always nice. The smell seems fitting for autumn, possibly more for a night on the town. The colour of the perfume is reminiscent of the autumn leaf fall.Having had a look and feel of the the bottle in Boots, it's very masculine. I can imagine fashion houses realise this is an important element for customers as prior to smelling the fragrance, a good bottle design will tempt potential buyers to give it a try and it also gives an idea of what the scent is attempting to convey.I saw the advert with Theo James and it seems to target at younger sophisticated males compared to Boss Bottled with Gerard Butler. The Scent is perhaps the best of the Boss range and with Christmas around the corner, is one I'd seriously consider purchasing and recommending to male friends. When I received the invitation to be a part of the campaign I was very enthusiastic. As an individual who is very particular about which aftershave I wear it is always great to get the opportunity to truly try out a new fragrance, not just smell it on a piece of paper... The first things a fragrance must have for me to consider purchasing it is A: a striking initial scent B: durability and C: a dark musk undertone. I choose not to wear scented antiperspirant and instead choose to wear aftershave daily, as the scents tend to be far richer than that of 'Deodorant'. This aftershave certainly ticks the first box, delivering a rich fruity scent upon application, although I don't tend to go for fruity aftershaves and prefer old-fashioned smoky scents I found this scent very pleasant. Durability is where this aftershave suffers a shortfall, although it lingers for a decent amount of time it does not last as long as other products I have previously used and requires additional small applications if heading out. The scent is certainly not overpowering and is perhaps even too mild for my choice, but may be more suited to a modern taste. Although it is probably not going to be my next perfume of choice as it does not satisfy criteria C and doesn't mix well with the smell of smoke (yes I know it is a bad habit!) it is certainly a great choice for a modern taste or a night out. When I opened the packaging for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised by the look and colours of the fragrance! With a black and bronze theme, it definitely came across as a suave and sleek fragrance - definitely a masculine one too! The colour of the liquid is pleasant. Overall, good first impressions from a great brand!Upon reading the description of the product on the inside cover, I wasn't too sure about the wording. "Unforgettable like a savored seduction" doesn't make sense to me, and didn't make sense to others that I asked either. Capitalising words like ginger, maninka and leather is also a mistake that the company have made here. The smell of the product immediately hit me as refreshing and light, but powerful at the same time. I then got a waft of flowers, which I wasn't too sure about, but it wasn't too powerful - I did think it was a bit feminine, though. After a while, the flowery scent died down and it smelt very pleasant. This smell isn't my favourite, but it's up there. When asking others what they wanted to know before getting the product, they said whether the smell was overpowering, and whether it was a masculine fragrance. In retrospect, it wasn't overpowering, and did border on masculine, but could probably get away as being feminine if the floral smells remained for a bit longer. I could smell this all day, to be honest! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The package arrived to my delight when I had arrived home from work, my aftershave stocks were running low so this this came at a good time for a busy weekend of socialising ahead. I was all ready for a Friday night, the last thing to do before leaving home was to apply the new sent. As I opened the tight bottle you were hit with the fragrance straight away, it was not over powering but it was a good masculine smell. I applied just the right amount then head out, I hit the first bar and meet my friends straight away they were making compliments about how nice I was smelling, which makes a pleasant change as my current aftershave does not deliver my any compliments at all.The compliments came from both my male and female friends during the night. The night was drawing to an end so I heading to the taxi queue on my own I stood in line and had a tap on the shoulder from a young lady behind again completing me on my pleasant smell, it was a great conversation starter for me. We got talking an exchanged numbers just before my taxi arrived and then headed off in opposite directions, getting numbers from attractive lady’s does very rarely happen to me and I owe it all to the new Boss Sent. So to summarise it’s a great sent which attracts good compliments and the scent last as well, I will defiantly be buying a large bottle once my samples have ran out. I'm not what you would call a connoisseur of aftershave. In fact it has to be a very special occasion for me to dig out the only bottle that I own. I don't like over powering smells, and find that many aftershaves are either very unnatural smelling or synthetic. However, when I lifted the lid from the small vial of The BOSS I was pleasantly surprised with the initial hit of the fragrance. I poured a small amount into the palm of my hands and massaged into my cheeks and neck. This is where some scents want to knock you out; The BOSS was strong smelling at first, but quickly retreated to a modest fragrance. It has obviously impregnated my shirt collar,as for the remainder of the day any sharp head movements caused a burst of fresh fragrance to fill the air.I wore the scent religiously for a week, and had more than a few comments asking what I was wearing as it smelt so nice. This prompted me to put the testers I was given in the kitchen area at work. These were quickly snapped up, not only by the men buty by a few of the ladies to give to their lucky fellows when they got home. Everyone liked it.So from someone who only wears aftershave once in a blue moon you have impressed, so much so that I will probably ask for a bottle for Christmas. I've been a stickler for the same fragrance every day. I haven't changed it since I was 20 (7 years ago) and never really thought of every changing - if it ain't broke, don't fix it etc etc. When The Scent came through my door, I obviously tried it. It was a big changed from my usual one, but I instantly loved it. It had a slightly spicy smell, yet it isn't overpowering. It merely needs a small splash where you would normally splash it to make you smell SO GOOD.As I have only been using a little bit at a time, it will be a long lasting bottle, making it good value for money. The only downside I have with this is that I find the smell lessens quickly and after a few hours it's barely noticeable unless I put my wrist to my nose. This isn't a massive draw back, but compared to my usual, it does put me off slightly.Whilst I wouldn't wear this day in day out, it is perfect for a night out or job interview/meeting for example as you won't need it to last all day.I am very tempted to buy this fragrance but I can't see it replacing my normal day in day out.The bottle itself and packaging are nice, simple and clean. It would make a good present, especially with good old Christmas approaching. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
