I don't know what it is about perfumes that makes marketing people write such a load of rubbish about them all the time. And this perfume - Montblanc Explorer - is no different."Montblanc shares the same values As explorers, such as the relentless quest for excellence. Climbing Summit, challenging conventions and exploring the four corners of the globe. From South Africa to Haiti, italy, Germany or indonesia; Montblanc explorer invites explorers on a fantastic journey, giving them the opportunity to discover the rarest ingredients and manufacturing methods that combine craftsmanship with the latest technology. The bottle echoes the earthy two hemispheres, recalling the multiple destinations explore during this olfactory expeditions. At the bottom lies montblanc’s emblem, the Iconic star representing the six glaciers of the highest Mountain in Europe. This unconventional woody-aromatic-leather Eau de Parfum reveals an Italian bergamot with green fresh notes, contrasted by a rich vetiver from Haiti and and exclusive patchouli from sulawesi. Get ready to discover new horizons."Whatever that all meansSo, a no BS review - even though it doesn't really say so anywhere, this is a male fragrance. Its scent is in the same part of the shop as a lot of other scents. It's an EDP so it lasts well - it will definitely last you a night out, and will - just about - last you all day as well. And the scent is really, really nice. I don't really have the vocabulary to describe it properly, but it's less fresh and citrussy than a lot of scents. It's spicier and earthier (if that's a thing), and feels more of a night out scent than a daytime one.Like all expensive perfumes, the packaging and bottle are lovely, but you get that with everything. This is definitely my new favourite fragrance. I was lukcy enough to get this for free. But I will definitely be buying some more

An interesting fragrence. Beautifully presented in a heavy glass bottle with highly sculpted lid and black, slightly textured wrap with subtle company logo, it certainly looks good on a shelf. Build quality is excellent -the atomiser is effective, with smooth action and no sign of blocking, as often seems to happen even with supposedly premium products. As others have noted, the top needs a good tug to remove, which adds to the quality feel. Packaging is simple and effective; a straightforward thin cardboard box with sufficient internal support for the bottle. All you need and no more. Fair enough -I'd rather the money went on the contents, which seems to be the case here. The contents are colourless; the fragrence on my skin relatively light; since this varies from person to person everyone will have a different take. For me, the top and middle notes are quite fresh and pleasently complex, with a touch of spice as it develops. Longevity is reasonable though not spectacular -Kouros (which would survive a nuclear winter, and long may it continue to do so) this is not, but nor does it vanish after a few minutes either. An ideal spring and summer fragrance that can be worn for many occasions without becoming overpowering. Very good. Cheap it is not, but from my perspective, all expensive fragrances are questionable value for money, taken purely as that. You are buying into a brand image, which if that is important to you layers in social complexities just as you would find in a fragrence itself. The company is respected and the image quite sophisticated, so again, if this is important to you, you will be on to a winner here.An excellent, premium product well worth trying, and highly recommended.

I love the Montblanc brand but have always found their fragrances underwhelming and poor performing. Generally every single drag I had from them disappeared from skin after 30 minutes. This one however, is a different story. While not the best performing perfume ever, the longevity and sillage are adequate. Id say it lasts around 4-6 hours with a medium sillage and then it fades away slowly. I could still smell it on my collar in the evening, but to be honest next time I will re-apply sometime in the afternoon to top it up. The scent is pleasant, not overly original or memorable, but definitely has some subtle class to it. It’s not as loud and youthful as YSL Y and being a little more refined is more suited for a man than a boy.I know that others have compared it to Aventus by Creed, and yes it’s very similar. Upon first spray it’s difficult to tell them apart, the differences start appearing after the top notes start fading away, Aventus is a little more fruity while this is leaning more towards the synthetics. Having said that, I firmly believe that overall it’s a much better buy than Aventus. Neither fragrance is very outstanding, both have the same familiar feeling - they remind you of something you might have smelled before. But, what Montblanc did right is being realistic. It’s an okay scent for an okay price. Contrary to Creed, where they try to sell you a bottle of okay-smelling perfume for £250. Save yourself some money and get the Montblanc version. But make sure you tell your friends and coworkers it’s Montblanc, let them know that Creed is overrated. Overall a good value scent I just wish it lasted a little longer.

From the moment you receive this eau de parfum you get the feeling that everything is right about it. To start with the bottle is of heavy glass with a weighty metal top featuring pleasingly simple lines. It is wrapped with a faux leather look band and features the famous Mont Blanc star in an otherwise minimalist design. This colour scheme is reflected in the gift box. Crucially, this quality and taste extends to the fragrance itself. The first sensation is of warm spice with first notes of bergamot and citrus alongside hints of something more spicy . One is aware that this is a parfum of real complexity and the middle notes reveal something different with hints of leather and herbs. This is certainly a fragrance which will last several hours including at least a couple of hours of foreground scent followed by five of six more at a more restrained level making it the perfect choice for a night at the theatre or a smart dinner. To me it is very much a fragrance for the evening not when you want early morning freshness en route to work. The overall scent world reminded me somewhat of another fragrance I had sampled, but never bought-after a long time I recalled this was Creed Aventus (which I can't afford to buy!), but if you like know and like that kind of high quality blend then do give this a proper trial.Interestingly the product description makes no mention of whether this is an eau de parfum for a man or woman and although I am sure it is targeted as a masculine product there will also be many women who will like it. A lovely fragrance to wear and to enjoy getting to know. Recommended.

On the masculine side, to my nose, this is a heady, slightly alcoholic scent, initially, then a pleasant warming spiciness with a touch of leather comes through that lasts all day and beyond, in my experience. The 100 ml EAU DE PARFUM comes in a cellophane-sealed, lightly textured grey & black cardboard box measuring around 7.75 cm square x 13 cm. ‘MONTBLANC’ is bold in white lettering, along with EXPLORER across the middle in shiny silver lettering, along with EAU DE PARFUM 100ML/3.3 FL. OZ. on the bottom of two sides. The INGREDIENTS are on the base (last image below refers), along with ‘Made in France’ & ‘78% Vol.’Inside, the weighty glass bottle is secure in a cardboard inner.Reminding me of a piece of Caithness Glass, from yesteryear, the bottle has a black, lightly textured wrap around the middle, around 5.5.cm wide, which is simply interrupted by a single, raised version of the MONTBLANC trademark star. The bottle stands around 11.5 cm tall with the chunky but pleasantly shaped, smoky coloured, shiny finish top in situ. The recessed base diameter is also around 5.5.cm, with the key detail around the very edge. The top needs a sharp tug to remove initially, in my experience, and reveals the quality atomiser that is surrounded by a matching smoky coloured disc with wording etched around the edge, namely:‘MONTBLANC EXPLORER’ x 2The eau de parfum is colourless, as far as I can tell, and not much is needed. It has a very slight oily feel to it in situ, also in my experience.I love it and it has had countless positive comments this last week![15 images attached](09/04/19)

I am not a big aftershave man. I find that overpowering scents give me a headache so I have avoided them for years.I was sent this bottle of Mont Blanc Explorer as a product to give an honest review of which is what I will do.First of all, the bottle. It comes in a very nice box. Celophane swapped. The bottle inside if BEAUTIFUL and feels like it is truly Mont Blanc quality. I love the Mont Blanc brand and I aspire to own a Mont Blanc fountain pen. This bottle matches the image. It has a faux leather sleeve with a small metal Mont Blanc button on the side. The lid of made of light metallic plastic and the spray underneath works very well. The spray delivers a perfect sized dose of the scent. The scent is overwhelmingly citrus with light undertones of Saldalwood. I am not pretending to know what I am talking about as I am no expert so all I can say is that it smells lovely. It is not overpowering. It is fresh and refreshing and does not carry the heaviness of some scents. It lasts for a good few hours but obviously fades with time. It leaves a subtle hint longer term which is just enough.Overall, I am delighted with this bottle. The scent is great, stamina is good and the bottle is beautiful. It delivers everything you would expect from a high end bottle of male scent. It is definitely a male scent by the way!!

Woody, musky smells seem to be in at the moment, judging by the number of colognes that use them and the Montblanc Explorer Eau de Parfum is no exception to this. The outer box looks classy on the shelf and the bottle inside is an oddly different mix of glass and textured material surrounding the top half, along with a chunky workman-like metal top that pops off to reveal the spray head. As marketing goes, it sells itself as being 'manly' well enough.Obviously the important thing is how the scent smells and how long it manages to stick around. The Montblanc Explorer scent is fairly complicated with an initial musky smell and an underlying, almost chemical, alcohol tone that soon disappears to reveal a more spicy-woody scent with a definite hint of Bergamot. After using this a few days in a row, the scent does dampen slightly within the first hour but then seems to stick around. I couldn't smell it all that well by the end of the day as I have a slight cold but my wife confirmed she could still smell the scent on me.This is a really nicely scented Eau de Parfum and I love the bottle design and the smell so it can certainly be recommended.

I really like this Eau de Perfume which is probably aimed at the male market although this is not stated on the package. It is supplied in a branded box which contains a compact atomiser with a pull off top. This is a review of the 30ml which is ideal for travel. It is also available in 60ml and 100ml sizes although I tend to prefer smaller sizes. They reduce the chance of the smell going off and also because I like to swap between fragrances.the bottle is of heavy glass with a weighty metal top featuring pleasingly simple lines. It is wrapped with a faux leather look band and features the famous Mont Blanc star representing the six glaciers of the highest Mountain in Europe. This is an Eau de Perfume so it is a bit stronger than your usual aftershave and you only require a little. It has a lovely spicy/woody fragrance that I find most pleasant and my wife likes it too.Although this is a premium product you could easily wear it every day and it lasts well without being too overpowering. This is expensive I will probably replace it when it is gone as it is one of the nicest fragrances I have come across.

I have to say that I really like everything about this little travel spray from Montblanc. The presentation is exceptional and calls back to the Montblanc range of pens, with the bottle being wrapped in a textured leather (or leather effect) wrap with a Montblanc enamel six pointed snow cap star logo on the front. The lid is also embossed with the Montblanc star. Altogether this is one of the best examples of fragrance packaging I think I have ever seen! The bottle features a pump atomiser spray for easy application. The lid also has a really secure click mechanism when you close it, so there is no chance of the spray accidentally being activated whilst it is in your bag or case - although being only 30ml,this spray is the perfect size for your hand luggage and falls well under the limit for liquids on aircraft. The fragrance is modern and quite light, to me it smells of wood and light citrus but it is still a nice masculine fragrance that isn't overpowering. I'll definitely be buying a larger bottle of this fragrance for regular use!Overall - a really top quality product that would make a lovely gift.

I ordered this for my man, as looking at the ingredients, I thought it would be a nice scent for him. As soon as I got it out of the Amazon packaging, I was impressed with its own packaging: the box is quite plain, simple, but this gives it a sense of sophistication. The bottle itself continues this theme of sophistication; it has a faux leather band, simply with the Montblanc emblem embossed in white towards the bottom. The stopper for the bottle is also of good quality. The scent itself is lovely. My boyfriend really liked it too. Personally, I don't think it is too overpowering, so it could potentially be worn during the day, however I can also see that you may want to save it for more special occasions. The complexity of the scent reminds me of good quality perfumes, such as Jo Malone which is my favourite, and I think like some of their scents, this could easily be worn either by males or females. This is a really good product. I would definitely recommend it, either as a gift for your other half, but also that you may want to steal it from him every now and then.

On smelling this fragrance I could tell right away that I liked it, a lot.. it’s inviting and very citrusy, exactly what i like in an aftershave. Suits being wore during the day and even at night if going out.. upon spraying it I noticed right away it has the opening notes of a very popular and expensive fragrance already on the market, probably my favourite, Creed Aventus.. Haven wore this aftershave over 2 days with the sample provided I was impressed by the smell a lot, so much so I bought a bottle the day after my sample ran out! The longevity of the fragrance could be better, with it disappearing altogether of my skin after 5ish hours, but to be honest it this is no worse than most smells currently out there..All in all very please with Explorer and being honest, it’s the first time I’ve rushed to by a bottle after receiving a sample! I am a big fragrance head and have a collection that’s ever growing, around 20 now with some big names in there and this is definitely in my top 6 I’d say. Definitely recommend! I must say how much I enjoy wearing this Eau de Parfum. As their description says, when it goes on you can definitely smell the vetiver in there and after a while, as it ages, there are clear notes of citrus orange blossom. Don't confuse this with a feminine scent though, it's unmistakably masculine. Personally I'm not a fan of strong 'woody' notes in scent, and this does mostly stay away from them.I would say despite the description from Mont Blanc, which uses classic scent names, it doesn't smell like any other I've come across, making it quite distinctive. The packaging is high quality without being crazy-bad for the environment, and the bottle itself has a quality heft about it and looks great. It's hard writing a review about a smell, but if you're looking for a gift for a man or buying for yourself, and you like the vetiver style with 'clean' yet classy smell about it that lasts well, then you can't go wrong IMHO. Mont Blanc is a high quality brand and I think this really lives up to the promise. I will certainly get another bottle once this one has gone.

My favourite perfumes are spicy & woody, with a citrus top note - I'm just an old hippie at heart! Montblanc Explorer was described with bergamot, vetiver and patchouli, so it definitely seemed worth a try. I like it. On application, it's vaguely floral and peppery. This evaporated within minutes to a still peppery, warmly spiced scent that lasted for ages. My skin still smelt of nutmeg/cinnamon after six hours. It's very light; you could easily wear this at work.I agree with a previous reviewer that the scent's a little 'chemical'. The kind of fragrance ingredients that yield a really rich natural spice - amber, oud, frankincense and the like - are expensive and would make Explorer four times the price. This does a good job, in my view. The long sillage is a nice surprise for a £30 perfume, and there's enough complexity to stop it feeling cheap. Handy if you enjoy an interesting fragrance, but don't want to overwhelm everyone nearby.Update: Today someone stopped to tell me they like my perfume! "Gorgeous", she said. That's a recommendation!

This Eau De Parfum from Montblanc is beautifully presented. I am most familiar with Montblanc as a maker of high quality fountain pens and inks. (I don't own any of their pens but they do look very good). This perfume comes in a bottle which does look rather like a very solid inkwell. (That's not a criticism - it is a stylish item). The perfume is a "Parfum" which means that is has a higher concentration of the perfume component than Toilette or Cologne. So put bluntly the same amount sprayed on (compared to the others) will smell stronger and last longer. The fragrance here is one with tones of leather and wood. I sprayed some on before going to a library - so it was perfect. It was five hours ago as I type this and I can still, despite having a cold, smell the fragrance very strongly. Might need to be a bit more sparing next time.It is not cheap but it is a quality product and because of the higher concentration of perfume it should las very well and the value for money element becomes much clearer. All in all a really fine product.
