I was blown away with Helix Oxford pen, it arrived earlier than I expected so it was sat in my letter box all day and it wasn’t until I decided to throw the junk mail away I realised that there was a box in a small bag, I must say that it was boxed because I had purchased the super forgotten the name and I have two, dryden polished black and gold thing that you can see the extrusion lines in the gloss and the cap has had the gold nob in the top pressed in too hard and markedly left an impression on the top, constructive criticism over, the £6 Helix Oxford writes so much better than the dyden and £30 cheaper, the dyden scratches along nicely.Well the Helix has shiny box the other came in a plastic bag but I love the Helix Oxford it writes beautifully and extremely well balanced with my usual Waterman long Cartridge that flows from the nib without feeling that you are using a nib it’s more comfortable to use than a roller ball, okay it only has one cartridge straight in the bin along with a box of twenty that I thought were longer but won’t last two pages of A4, if that, my ink flows beautifully from a perfectly formed medium nib, okay it’s not gold plated but it should be a pleasure to use on a daily basis I would like to think if not I can afford to buy some more, just shipped two sheets and didn’t notice using it, now that is a mark of quality and nary a blot or ink on my digits, try one I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how good it is.

This is the best I’ve gotten from 5 pounds! The pen is perfectly balanced. The nib has just the right stiffness. The ink flow is perfect for a medium nib. I avoid buying resin/plastic bodies and caps because they always break. The stainless stainless barrel and cap of this pen holds up for that too.I have had a few Mont Blanc pens which had all proven to be high maintenance and unreliable. The one in the picture was around 630 pounds to buy with 130 pounds worth of repairs done to date and all I’ve used it for is signatures. The only resin bit of the pen is now cracked after it was changed a few years ago. So much for lasting a lifetime! You can also see the difference in ink flow in the picture with the MB bloating the paper with ink.So I decided to try some cheaper ones and Oxford came up as the cheapest option on Amazon search for fountain pens. I was transported to my childhood when the Oxford brand meant cheap and best. I was delighted to see that they haven’t changed. It doesn’t look or feel as great as the Mont Blanc, but it writes better. And even if it only lasted a month, its still 2 years ahead of the MB pen in terms of cost of ownership.

Although it's hard to tell from product photos on websites, this looked like it might be a relatively high quality pen for such a low price, and I wasn't disappointed when it arrived. The pen is predominantly metal (no cheap plastic barrel or lid), quite chunky and fairly heavy - great for people with larger hands and/or larger writing (I have medium sized hands and try to keep my writing small, and it's still great).I have only been using it for a few days, but so far I have found that the ink flows very smoothly, especially if you don't press the nib down too hard, and there have been no leaks. After reading someone else's review, I did make sure that I fitted the cartridge firmly, which is always a good idea anyway.Seriously, for the price you pay, this has to be one of the best quality lower-priced fountain pens around, and having used a lower quality pen with a scratchy nib, this has given me back the joy of writing with a fountain pen.

I have never really cared for fountain pens before as they remind me of awful school days but recently I do decided to try one. So I didn't want to buy a expesive one so I chose this one and I'm glad I did it's lovely looking and really nice to holdI have put a picture of my writing sorry it's not the best and also I didn't know this but once you have inserted the ink cartridge till you hear it puncture you have to leave it upside down for a couple of hours to let the ink fall naturally.I have now ordered the silver pen as it's on offer for only £5 BARGAIN also I have purchased the propper ink cartridges at a little over £2.50 for 20Thank you I hope this review is helpful

These are really nifty entry level fountain pens. They write well, are comfortable to hold and feel better to use than a lot of more expensive pens.I would advise getting a converter for the pen (they use a standard international converter) to let you switch to bottled ink. that way you can have a bigger range of inks available to you.At this price point there is little that competes and its a good alternative to the entry level pens like the Parker Vector.

I ordered this for my son as a Christmas present to me! I wasn't expecting much as it's inexpensive. It writes beautifully, really smoothly, a nice weighted pen, not light, not heavy - just right. As stated the colour isn't really rose gold, it's more a peachy colour but that's unusual too and I forgive it because it writes so well

I would highly recommend this pen. My 11 year old daughter has never written with a fountain pen before and found this really easy and comfortable to use. She really likes it and her handwriting is lovely in it.Such a great pen for the price. Its even made me get my old fountain pen out and start using it again!!!

I made a decision this year to stop using disposable pens and invested in this lovely Helix pen.I look sophisticated and feel like I am doing my bit to save the planet, especially with it plastic free box too.A nice weighted pen that writes nice and accepts standard uk refills

Great quality pen, especially for the price. Can fit spare cartridge in the body of the pen. For those looking for something weirdly and light and who are using for long periods at any one time, do note this pen is relatively heavy which does impact the ease of writing.

I find this pen really suits me, it is a nice weight, comfortable to hold and the nib is really smooth. No scratchiness, no leaky ink. It is so nice to right with & great value for money. I will probably buy another in a different colour now.

Having purchased a pack of ink cartridges from a supermarket (own brand) only to find they would not fit my pen I decided to try these. Although they looked very similar they fitted the pen straight away and work fine.

I wanted a new pen to replace my old broken Parker Pen. This was mid-price and I was impressed with how well it writes. It's lightweight too and stores cartridges in the base for easy replacement.

It's a pen. It writes. It uses small cartridges. It's packaging is great as it's recyclable and there's no plastic. What else can I say about a pen. It has a nice weight to it. I use it to write.

Bought for 8 year old who now has a pen licence at school. She loves it, writes very well, easy to change cartridges, ink starts flowing after a couple of minutes. Occasionally leaks ink.

Lovely pen, nice weight to hold and write with.Took a while to get the ink to flow, I held it under a tap for a second. It’s nice to go back to a fountain pen. It’s a smooth write too.
