We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Scoot, his noises and what he can do - and so has the 4 year old for whom he was intended!Scoot is an interactive pup who will walk on a lead, bark, yap, whimper, whine, scurry forwards or backwards, pant, wag his tail and rest his head on your knee making snuffly noises. He's bright, alert, responsive and fun. He's also quite unpredictable too: he'll scurry along panting but also bump (gently) into obstacles and need a little help. He is responsive to sound and, if a number of children are playing together with him in a group then he'll respond to them by scurrying towards them if they call his name or clap loudly changing direction which can be almost full-circle.This works reasonably well for children grouped in a small circle who enjoy watching him head towards them for fuss and a head pat. If left unattended he can suddenly burst into life with barks and panting to attract attention while feeling neglected, just like a real pup. However although barks, panting, whimpers and whines are a good volume when close to him, they are not sufficiently loud to annoy parents or siblings in an adjacent room.Scoot is a good size for young children with an overall length and height of 24cm each. Beneath his plush polyester pile coat his body is hard plastic containing his animatronics and a child-safe, screw-fastening battery compartment - and I was very impressed to see 4AA batteries are already fitted so he can be used immediately. In contrast to his hard rigid body, his head is soft and squishy which our 4-year old loved squeezing along with grooming his fur. Inside the back of his head is a concealed switch which activates him by what appears, to an onlooker, to be simply a pat to the head. Our 4 year old longs for a pup to take for walks and has enjoyed walking Scoot who, thanks to rollers in his hind paws and grippy traction wheels in his front legs, trundles along on smooth or carpeted floors beside her, either free-range or using his rather short lead.Scoot is ideal for a young animal-loving child. His build quality is good and he looks as though he will endure some gentle rough and tumble along with the active play he is designed for, especially amongst a small group of children. I would have liked to see him ideally being rechargeable via USB but as a compromise he will run on rechargeable AA batteries which is essential for a toy enjoying lots of use and an appetite for batteries. Parents will also be pleased to note that he bears a genuine CE stamp too.I think many children are going to enjoy welcoming Scoot into their households and he's a fair price too.

Barking mad.......We really like this toy. Scoot is a cute, fluffy, soft adorable little grey and white dog that you just want to hug.I like the fact the product comes with the batteries pre installed. So no hunting for a screwdriver to unlock the battery cover then trying to find the right size battery. Unpack and your good to go.The packaging is nice to look at and it's good as it's mainly cardboard and doesn't have a plastic window as it's not completely covered. We have other little dogs that yap, bark and walk but this one is the next level but saying that it's reflected in the price. I would like to see this slightly cheaper between £30-35 would be a fair price for it.You can walk scoot on off the lead and according to manufacturer over 35 sound and movement combinations.I haven't seen all of them yet but we have had plenty of fun with her. She is really easy to command so your little one will pick up on it quickly. It's good as you can play alone or with friends in a group as long as you sit in a circle and you can watch her get dizzy running back and forth wagging her tail.Great gift for Christmas or birthday. Or even for a child who wants a puppy but with out all the responsibility and cost involved with a pet. They recommend from 3 upwards, a younger child would still enjoy watching and or playing with an older sibling or parent. If you don't like the look of scoot you could always buy others in the animagic range.4 stars only as when I first looked at this product they wanted nearly £50 for this. Its since gone down to £37.49 but still a tad expensive.

My 2 year old niece loves this. She is too young and boisterous for a real dog, it wouldn't;t stand a chance with her but she just loves doggies. This has to be the next best thing and it keeps her occupied for hours. If you keep the toy on it's lead, then it will walk alongside you and it responds you sounds and commands albeit I found it hard to get it to follow me. Having said that, remove there lead and it will follow your voice and come towards you. It doesn't;t appear to have an obstacle avoidance function and you can make it walk into things. The barking sounds it makes are rather electronic in nature and I can see this might grate after a while. There is a good degree of interactivity and the dog will seek attention if left for any length of time which does help teach children that pets need to be looked after.Overall I founds this an engaging toy, well packaged and with more functions that I had the opportunity to test out. The real reviewers of this however are my nephew and niece and they simply adore this, they have it following them round the house and barking for hours on end and I can only apologise to my brother for this. The measure of a toy's success is whether it is played with and my early observations ar that this is certainly a winner. One nice point that I noted when it arrived, it comes with batteries. Many toys like this will be given as Christmas gifts and I'm sure we all know the disappointment of kids toys with no batteries and no shops open to buy any on Christmas morning. That's a real winner for me.

A very cherishable gift for someone special for Christmas and birthdays. Suited, in my opinion for the age group 2-6 years. The price is way too high at close to £40 and is probably worth half of that. It's not a quality build nor is it built to last. The fleece exterior is quite thin and the internal components palpable. That is, apart from the head which is soft and plush and the tail which is quite soft with only a thin wand inside to make the tail waggle. My daughter loves this dog, she yearns to have a real dog of her own, so this lovely pup keeps her amused, as it seemingly follows her voice and jostles about whilst guided on its leash. The mistake the pup makes, ie tumbling over, going the wrong way whilst on the leash, disjointed yelping and continuingly walking into a dead end as it cannot redirect. Are all put down to her puppy "still being young" and "we need to train him" which seems to pacify my young daughter.Though the walking into a dead end whilst following your voice is quite humorous at times - he looks quite amorous as he tries to mount your foot repeatedly without knowing how to back away. Again we put this down to him still being ever so young and still in training. It displays certain characteristics which are quite lifelike therefore it just scrapes the four stars benchmark for me. Had it failed in the amusement department - it's quirky flaws make him all the more real - it would have got a definite 3 stars due to the build quality and uncertain duarability.

This is the second animatronic puppy I have reviewed. This one is about half the price of the last one. The last one did tricks. However, this one actually walks along and runs about, rather a prerequisite for any dog owner. He comes with his own lead. Also, it looks like a dog. The other one had a weirdly big, cartoony head. He takes 4 x AA batteries which are supplied. The head is soft but the body is hard because it has the workings in it. So it's not really one to cuddle. The activation is at the top of his head, which is a fairly intuitive place to pat a dog. He reacts to this and also sounds, so the owner will need to learn to clap his or her hands to get the dog to interact. The volume is one setting, but very reasonable. It is made in China and not suitable for children under 3, due to small parts. It's hard to say how much play value is really in animatronic toys. However, for a child that would like a pet but this is precluded by reasons of cost, allergy or location, this could be a workable alternative.Having tried the fancy or expensive model, I actually prefer this for the following reasons: it's smaller and more doglike, it's mobile so the child gets some exercise, it's not so hungry on batteries, it's quieter, and as far as I can tell, quality has not been compromised along with the lower price. He was a hit with our 4-year-old niece. Recommended.

'Animagic 31361.4300 Scoot, Soft Plush, Sound Responsive Movement, Multi' is a really cute, very soft well made toy dog who can move and interact with you. It has an age guide of over 36 months. He is just the right size.Scoot can -1. React with barking noises and wagging his tail a lot when you pat his head in demo mode.2. Can be walked on a detachable lead in On mode. When off the lead -3. Will come to you when you clap or call Scoot.4. Will walk around in a circle like he was chasing his tail.5. Will whimper occasionally, if left in the on position, for attention.6. Apparently it has 35 sound and motion combinations, but I haven't heard all of his repertoire yet.7.Works on 4 x AA batteries that are included in a compartment in his tummy, that has to be unscrewed for safety.I have had fun getting Scoot to do things - a lot is trial and error as the instructions are not the best. I got it as we have a 4 year old relation who visits and she can have a toy to keep her amused while she is here and then leave it here for next time. She will absolutely adore the interaction with this loveable dog. I do think £37.50 is a bit steep for what he is however, hence the 4 stars instead of 5.

My 1 year old daughter loves dogs, so I thought this might be a fun thing for her to play with. She has an obsession with our robot vacuum cleaner, so I thought this might be a good distraction. There is a mixed verdict; the long and short is that she likes it, and interacts with it, but is still more in love with our robot vacuum cleaner. However, the dog itself is quite fun; it has two settings; pet only and pet and noise sensitive. The latter is much more fun, and shows that 'Scoot' is remarkably advanced. You can also choose to put a lead on or not; with the lead on it will follow you with a bit of barking. With the lead off, if you clap, or call out 'Scoot' it will bark, shuffle about a bit and turn towards you.It may then continue towards you, but it's unpredictable, like a real dog. If you leave him be, after a while he'll bark again and move off; if you pet him or continue to clap or call his name, he'll continue to bark and come towards you, or run into things, tail wagging, the lot.

It took me a while to understand why my dog doesn't react to my voice, it was in a demo mode.First thing to do when received - move it from demo (II) to on setting (I) .Toy arrives with 4 AA batteries included and hidden in the tummy. When in use it's rather sensitive and reacts well.It has plenty of different doggy sounds.I would say it's appropriate for kids 3+ up to age of max 9 /10.It has 2 modes:On leash - continuous, walks, barks and wiggles it's tail constantly.Off leash - reacts to your voice and walks up a bit , also runs in circles. It doesn't walk near your leg as good as on promotion video, you have to pick it up and face in the right direction as it seems to drift to the side a little. It walked on our kitchen runner but it had problem getting on it from hard flooring on its own.Instructions are poor, could be better but you can get there with trial and error method. It will make great Christmas or birthday present.Great for kids with allergies that want to have a pet.

Scoot is very cute, that is for sure - he has a classic scruffy pup look. His bark is of a reasonable volume and pitch so not excessively annoying. He has a cheerful exuberant vibe. His fur is silky smooth but the body under the fur is hard plastic. On the lead he will trot along in the direction in which he is pointed - he moves by a combination of leg movements and wheels on the bottom of his paws so his direction can be deflected by changes in the texture of the carpets. He moved ok on my carpets but might struggle with deeper piles. Off the lead he will wander around barking or panting. he will come when called by name or summoned by a clap - I found the clap much more reliable,he ignored me for about 70% when I called is name (very like my real dog...). He does need regular reassurance to keep him moving in the right direction. He is certainly a lot of fun for pre-school kids. A fairly basic but very cute interactive toy.

Scoot the dog is quite engaging, with an appealing, slightly cartoonish face. Scoot has a soft face and head, but its body is quite hard, so in reality it's not the cuddliest of toys. Despite the appealing face, the body is hard plastic covered in fabric. Scoot doesn't have the most natural of movement - his (my nephews declared Scoot a boy) legs have wheels built in to the ends of them, and it's pretty obvious that he's wheeling rather than 'walking' when his legs move - but this mechanism seems to work well on most types of floorings that we have (a fairly short-piled carpet, wood, and LVT).There are lots of nice, inbuilt features including barking, tail wagging, 'coming'in response to clapping or calling of his name. Runs on 4 AA batteries - and does seem to get through these quite quickly. Packaging wasn't stupidly excessive, although my middle nephew wasn't terribly impressed by the pink colour scheme to the box.

The first 10min was rather frustrating for my son and I as we tried to figure out how this toy works. The instructions have several languages but focuses more on battery information than how the toy works. There are pictures to explain how it works which I did not find clear at all.I had to read the amazon reviews to figure out how it worked and that's when I realised I had been using it on demo mode and thats why it wasn't doing much.Demo mode is pretty basic. The dog just moves and wags its tail but when you switch the button to on (left) you get to experience all the things the dog can do.He will move towards you when you clap, he can move backwards and forwards, he can even turn around. Its a bit hit and miss though as he doesn't always do it and you've had my son and i shouting. 'scoot scoot' and clapping our hands making a ruckus. Its such good fun though even for older children and grown ups.

I must admit to thinking my one was broken as once you switch it on nothing happens (in normal or demo position). At least a dog bark or a move of the head would have been reassuring.I even tried four new AA's to see if that would help (it comes with 4 x AA's already fitted). The instructions show you clipping on the leash so I thought perhaps a switch was built into the collar.Anyway, it does work and seems to require a tap on its body, clapping your hands or a pat on the head. Now I know it works it seems good fun but I would say the control switch is a little tricky to access with no marking for "Normal" or "Demo"."Demo" seems very similar but no voice activation.I assume if left on when not in use that it will drain the battery?I have named my one "Rags" after a very similar robot dog in a movie.

Straight out of the box, Scoot is adorable, wagging his tail, barking, or rather yapping and walking on a lead. The instructions are not easy to interpret, but you need to move the switch from demonstration mode to on to get the full range of interactions. He walks well to heel, but barks quite a lot and occasionally starts to whine. We didn’t find him very responsive to voice or noise commands and that was hit and miss and, to be honest, once he has walked around for a bit, the novelty does wear off a little. He is super cute but his body is a hard shell under the fur and only his head is soft and cuddly, so he may not suit all children. Unfortunately, despite the cuteness,I also think he is likely to be a 5 minute wonder that could cause irritation even during that short time due to that barking.

I think this has to rank as one of the best toys my little one has ever received! There are 2 modes but we have left it on the one where Scoot’s head needs to be patted for a response and movement. The other setting means Scoot will respond to calls, walk when the lead is clipped on but will also start to whine if not played with for a while.Kiddo loves dogs but we can’t have a real one at the moment so this is a perfect substitute. Scoot is soft and looks quite realistic. Little one has had hours of fun and insists that Scootbsleeps beside their bed at night! Scoot must also go to pick them up from school and on visits to great grandma’s house so has really become one of the family!A perfectpet for those who for whatever reason can’t have a real dog.

What a lovely cute puppy Scoot is the next best thing to the real one our three year old grand daughter is always asking for. Does many of the actions, noises etc. walking alongside of you, runs around when off the lead and comes back when you clap your hands. With so many sound and motion combinations Scoot will keep any child amused for hours and their imaginations working.Powered by 4xAA batteries which are accessed via Scoots belly cleverly hidden away from little fingers. For any small child that craves a real puppy for Xmas this could be an alternative. Our grand daughter has become so attached she takes Scoot to bed each night with her.Worth the present asking price and well worth our 5 STAR review.
