I have used moulded cake tins like this in the past with fairly disasterous results (the fire engine that broke into bits and that I had to try to stick together with buttercream still 'sticks' in my mind...) However, I thoroughly greased this with butter beforehand and managed to get the cake out in one piece. I didn't get any recipe or instructions with my tin, which some people seem to mention?? I used a basic chocolate sponge recipe and baked it for 35 minutes at 160 fan. I spread a little apricot jam over the cooled cake and laid ready-to-roll black fondant icing that I had rolled out big enough to cover Darth over it, then used my fingers to mould it to the cake.Added some white chocolate stars as this was for my Darth Vader mad little daughter. I will be using this tin again and again! Thoroughly recommend.

Worked well the first time - I used the attached recipe with gluten free flour and added half a teaspoon of xanthan gum and buttered it copiously. Plopped out a very detailed Vader cake. Needed to cover the cake with tin foil tho to stop it cooking too fast on the outside and not at all on the inside. 2nd time - no xanthan gum - complete disaster!Haven't quite worked out how to decorate it well tho - you loose some of the detail when you start smothering it with Nutella. I found that when black colouring is added the Nutella reacts by trying to set. Pipe icing on top helps to put the details back. The tin itself is great - does what it says on the tin.

Bought this for a friends' Star Wars Birthday. The detail was really great and held its shape well. Definitely grease the mould well before putting in mix. Arrived very quickly too!I would 100% get black fondant icing as the finish looks great and will save a lot of time avoiding the grey colour you get when using black food colouring. We simply let the cake cool, then rolled out black fondant icing over icing sugar until thin, the placed on top, dabbed in corners for detail & covered in egg white for a nice sheen.Would definitely recommend!

Bought as a present, and made a chocolate cake in it first. Have to say, it was a bit of a let down! Not as non-stick as I would have hoped - even with greasing it didn't come out in one piece! Still, the cake was easy enough to stick back together with a bit of icing and after decorating it with nutella icing (with some black food colouring in), my culinary disaster went un-noticed (or at least un-mentioned!)Very happy with it otherwise - good quality, nice and thick tin, and lots of fun! Any Star Wars fan should be thrilled with it!

I brought this to make my Star Wars mad fiancé a cake for his birthday. The tin is very sturdy and I greased the inside of it as recommended and used the chocolate cake recipie on the card inside which was absolutely gorgeous and had no issues with sticking. The features of Darth stood out and I was able to cover the sponge with black roll out icing and it still be recognisable as DV. It went down a treat and my fiancé now wants us to make jelly in it too.

Fab for any Star Wars fans! I managed to make a great cake with this baking tray. My first attempt was not great as my sponge stuck to the tray, so just a little tip (that my Mum gave me!) try greasing the tray then covering it with a thin layer of flour - it worked for me! My second attempt gave me a brilliant outcome! I used rollout icing to cover it and you can still clearly see the markings of the tray and it looks great!

Just brilliant! Butter it really well & have a trial run before it really counts. Made banana choc chip cake that usually fills a loaf tin. Used same proportions. Sliced the top flat before turning over to avoid Vader's face splitting. Applied a thin layer of jam. Got ready to roll black icing, draped over & eased into the creases. Highlighted simply by some well placed dents & lines. Happy 7 yr old, so perfect!

This is surprisingly good. We had none of the problems others mentioned about getting cakes out, just buttered the tin and the cake fell out. Finished product looked fantastic. I found that icing it ruined it though, as it made it look less like Lord Vader. Next time I might try making 2 and doing a sandwich cake with frosting in the middle.

I wanted a Klyo Ren cake tin couldn't find one so I saw this got it and just adapted the icing stage.Cake came out really easily but I did well grease the tin. The cake mixture is spot on. I've previously got the stormtrooper tin and the mixture was nice in that recipe too. Just hoping my 14 year old will love it

Great cake pan. Perfect to use with your own recipe mix. Popped out the tin with no problems. I covered it in buttercream and then black fondant which I smoothed out and made shiny. Decorated a cake board with edible airbrush paint to look like space added words. Perfect for Star Wars fans.

Did a practice run for my son's birthday next month. Do not use chocolate chips they stick to the pan and Darth Vader looks like he has a bad spot problem. but overall shape was good. looking forward to the next practice so I can ice this time. My kids are eating the evidence as I type

Works well didn’t stick when greased and floured, it isn’t very deep so I recommend making two and slicing the top off one to make a flat layer and sandwiching them. I used black regal ice, rounded handle of a knife to pick out the details and edible silver paint for the highlights.

Larger and better quality than I expected. Followed the greasing instructions and every time I have used it (6 so far) the cake has come out with absolutely no problem. The recipe for a chocolate cake included on the packaging is absolutely delicious too.Certainly worth 5 stars.

Could't fault this pan at all. Greased it really well with butter and then dusted it with flour and didn't have a problem with the cake sticking to the tin. Made the cake in the recipe card that comes with it and it turned out really well. Value for money.

Made a great birthday cake, needed several attempts and whilst it is non stick I would strongly recommend buying some release spray to apply first as wiping with butter/ marg does not work very well.
