Despite the Forerunner 245 being designed for running, above other activities, I bought this for it's swimming functions. I actually rarely run. Thie watch was at a reasonable price point and offered extra pool swimming functionality, whilst still offering decent tracking for cycling and walking/running. When I was reading through the reviews before buying it, I didn't see much about swimming so I wanted to leave a review that covered swimming a little more. This watch does not have an outdoor swimming option, but as I have yet to brave wild swimming, this is not an issue for me. I bought this as an upgrade to my Vivoactive3 primarily because of the heart rate monitor that is now available during swimming activities. It also has the drill log function and allows the user to create and download workouts to use in the pool, which were functions that were lacking on the Vivoactive3. I have found both to be very useful since I have been using this watch. The extra buttons are taking me a while to get used to and initially I did make some mistakes, ending up recording 4 separate swims during one session, but overall (with user error taken out of the picture!) the performance of the watch seems to have been good. It has counted my laps fairly accurately. There have been a couple of extra laps added but I think this is due to the current pool conditions under COVID restrictions and swimming loops instead of straight laps, and sometimes having to stop and start due to other swimmers. I actually think it has been amazingly accurate considering the conditions.I have also used it for hikes and bike rides, both of which it has recorded accurately. The heart rate monitor matches that of the Vivoactive 3 and seems to be very accurate. I have checked my heart rate manually a few times and it has agreed perfectly with my calculations, so I am happy that it is accurate. The information after a ride or walk has been very accurate including the GPS map which was accurate enough even to show which side of the road I was walking on.Looks-wise, I don't think it is as nice as the Vivoactive 3 and I suspect the bezel will scratch fairly easily as it is plastic. I have a screen protector and a case on mine to protect it. My Vivoactive 3 just had a screen protector and survived well despite heavy use. I hope this will be as good. The battery life seems to be good, though I haven't noticed a big difference from the Vivoactive 3. I like the additional function of the body battery, which appears to be pretty accurate. One thing that did surprise me though, was the need to plug it into a laptop when I received it, to get the latest software update. I couldn't do this from my phone or Chrome book. I was also surprised that it had not come installed with a more up-to-date software version. However, once I realised what I needed to do, it was easy enough to follow the on-screen instructions and update it to version 5 rather than the version 2-point-something it had come with. Once that was done, I installed a few watch faces and chose one that I like. The face is clear, even in low sunlight and without the backlit option. The strap is comfortable and fits without adjustment due to the number of holes running all the way around. There is plenty of adjustment so I cannot imagine that there are many people it would not fit.All in all, it is a nice upgrade from the Vivoactive 3 which I have been very happy with. The added functions are great and I am pleased with it. At the price, I think it offers a good range of functions and is accurate.

I was looking for a watch for running, cycling and swimming mainly. I enjoy the sport and participate in sprint distance triathlons. The watch does not have a triathlon mode, but the great thing is that you can download new apps that support it (not tested yet). Great benefits of the watch in my opinion: * Cover all standard sports * With navigation (extremely helpful when cycling) * Apps can be installed via Connect IQ, such as: komoot. * Fluent in the operation, software feels finished (in comparison to the polar vantage m) * Sits comfortably on the arm * Very good button position (compared to polar vantage m) * Extension with ant + sensors or other suppliers possible,as garmin is very well distributed in the market * Even if I do not value fitness and put all the knickknacks, the whole thing is well prepared, the achievements unmotivated can certainly motivate well and the smart notifications have already a positive use. I find only negative: * All data ends up on the Internet, offline the app is useless (unfortunately the same in the competition) * No multisport, which makes garmin pay well with the next better model, but thanks to IQ apps verfertbar To anyone who also cycles, I advise you to use this model, thanks to the navigation. The swim tracking is certainly sufficient for triathlete beginners. For pure runners surely also the 45er clock. A very successful product in my eyes, which is worth the (in my eyes) high price then (compared to the competition)

Have been using the Garmin 245 watch for some time now after several years with a Garmin 920XT. It's good... but not without some minor flaws.Pros..+ Good battery life - only needs charging once or twice a week+ Mostly very quick to locate GPS signals+ Light to wear and a comfortable strap+ Nice choice of watch faces+ Accurate at tracking activities and heart rates.Cons..- Sleep tracking is terrible. Not accurate at all. The other night I didn't get to sleep until 2am and regularly pressed the light button on my watch to check the time. Next morning it said I had been asleep since midnight... must think I press the light button in my sleep!- Had a couple of instances where it has stopped logging heart rate from the sensor on the back.Note that this is a logging problem, not a measuring problem. When this happens it still shows accurate current HR value (so it's still measuring), it's just that the plot showing HR values over the last four hours is empty. Turning the watch off and back on fixes this.- Night time pulseox values seem very low, and there are a couple of other people posting about this on forums. Garmin says it might happen if you are laying on your arm (cutting off the blood supply).- Personal records (e.g. 10k fastest time, longest run etc..) sometimes vanish or don't get updated. To be fair I'm not sure if this is an issue with the watch or an issue with the Garmin Connect app.

Have had this device just over a week and I’m very pleased the purchase.I chose the non music model over the music version as I use amazon music streaming service and I was told by Garmin the watch only supports Deezer or Spotify. The watch was lighter then expected, which is good.Menu and terminology of apps, widgets, data screens can be a little confusing at first, but after a few days you get the hang of it.After have my watch a little over a week, my battery is currently on 25% and have been on two 5k runs, four 4K rides and have been wearing it constantly. The watch provides vast amounts of data that has kept me busy following and comparing. On two occasions the connection between watch and phone has been lost and was unable to sync, but after restarting the Garmin connect app, the connection was restored. So this seems to suggest a bug with the current app and not the watch.

Ive not had a GPS watch before and have been watching a friend over the last year or so use his as we go out running together. The Garmin 245 is a fantastic tool that outshines the one my friend has. Not only does it measure the route, tell you how fast you were going and what your heartbeat is, but it synchronises with my phone when I get back before Ive even made it in to the flat. It has brilliant features so I can see how charged my body batter is, what my sleep patterns are and the heart and breath rate at any particular time. I use the App on my phone and am still finding new things to do with it after three weeks. Totally recommended.

Luckily, or not, my old Garmin 310xt finally reached end of like, broken strap and lower charge retension. The FR245 seemed to have battery length and features required for hiking and biking. Also got good deal on Black Friday. Plus app says have fitness of a 20yr old!!

Excellent for tracking all activities but particularly great for running. GPS lock on in seconds, battery life is superb and the Garmin ecosystem is very user friendly.Purchasing this watch is helping me become fitter and healthier. I highly recommend it.

The amount of information you can get from this watch is amazing. With all of the apps, you be on info overload. The only reason I have given it four stars is the watch band. It is uncomfortable so you will most likely need to get a different one.

Really solid GPS watch. Use it on every run. Would be nice for the GPS to sync a little faster though, sometimes takes up to a minute of standing around for it to get signal but all in all a great fitness watch for the price.

I am not a totally fitty so in a way this watch does way more than I need but it’s fantastic. It just make me think and I now just improve everything a bit as it monitor loads of stuff. Plus the find our phone app is handy

Great for running, Garmin coach is a great motivator.I ditched my Apple Watch for this and am not disappointed. It’s miles more accurate with regards to VO2 max, The Garmin server has crashed a couple of times though.

Love it, the more I use it the more I like it.I do alot of running and pacing is very important, there is so much to this 245, one of the best presents ever. Runners you won't be disappointed.

16.1.2021

Light weight, perfect size accurate sensors and great battery life, vibration alerts very strong, real pleasure to wear , would recommend a tempered glass to protect screen during work.

25.2.2021

Does exactly what it meant to do. Accurate GPS, quick to catch GPS signal, excellent training modes, customisable through their app. Highly recommended for any runner.

Fantastic watch. Looks more like an every day watch than a sports one. Much smaller and comfier than my precious Garmin 235. Very accurate and provides lots of stats.
