I LOVE the look of this watch but it took some time to get the real thing (long story short, the seller on Amazon sold me a fake and ironically, I got my current genuine watch from eBay, the place I had avoided because I was sure I’d get scammed on eBay). Gone are the days where the counterfeiters only copy the expensive watches like Rolex, Patel Philip etc. If there is a buck to be made, they’ll make it! That’s why there are so many fakes on the open market and sadly, on Amazon too! Whether the sellers are aware or not...who knows? Anyway, when I saw this colour combination (Matt black strap and case with electric blue analogue clock hands) and it was my birthday and an excuse to treat myself,I first went onto eBay (as you do) to try and get it for “less”. There weren’t that many in there and the “genuine” ones seemed to be a little beaten up and overpriced (they wanted around £60-80 for a second hand G-shock!). The “new” ones on eBay for between £30-£40 were clearly fakes since this watch is £120-140 brand new and I loathed to pay £90-100 on eBay for watches that looked new and genuine since there are no guarantees on eBay and I may as well stump up the extra cash and buy a brand new one from a High Street store.Anyway, I was just about to buy a used genuine one For £50 on eBay when I thought, you know what? Let’s try Amazon. When I logged into Amazon, I was surprised to see that I could get a brand new one for £50 plus shipping. So I ordered one straightaway. The seller’s username should have set off alarm bells but the photos looked legit and so I greedily ordered my watch. Long story short, ”if it’s too good to be true, it is”.When the watch came, in my excitement, I wanted to believe it was real. The strap get a bit thin but hey, it was brand new and looked cool. But then my brother (who has had several genuine G-shocks and has always bought them from shops) said it was definitely a fake. So then I started looking closer and indeed, I had purchased a fake. The yellow light hardly illuminated the watch fake and I couldn’t read the time at all. The real one isn’t much better (The problem is they’ve only decided to use a single yellow LED at 6 o’clock) but at least you can read the time. the strap is super thin as I’ve already mentioned but I was sucked in by the metal buckle which said made in Japan which I felt lucky to have since they say that Japanese products that are made in Japan itself are even higher quality, but turns out that it was a con. The fakes played on this fact to deceive people. The majority of the genuine watch straps are made in Thailand and are stamped Made in Thailand.Next up, there was a hair inside the glass of the watch face. I thought to myself, that’s bad quality control isn’t it? So I took the back off and looked at the metal backplate. It was rough and the stamping where it says “shock resist” was blurred and too deep (the genuine embossing is not too deep but the text is super sharp). The edges of the plate were very rough too and had polish residue on it, confirming that this was a fake. No way in hell would a genuine watch be finished to such a poor standard. I couldn’t tell much about the movement because it looked fine but this model watch has an auto light when you turn you wrist 45° and it didn’t turn the light on automatically so this was definatekh a fake. Also some of the stopwatch functions didn’t work either. Finally, inspecting the box, there were a few more tell tale signs. No bar code on the box or the cardboard hang tag. On the genuine one, these correspond obvious. The print in the manual and the quality of the paper used for the manual for the fake watch was inferior not that that was very easy to spot. The paint on the black metal watch box of the fake had already started to flake off and it did not come with a sponge to display the watch on. It just sat in a hole in the centre of a sponge that then sat in the tin box. The cardboard protective box also opens differently on the real thing as you can see from the picture.I returned the fake to Amazon the very next day and I am still waiting for my money a week later. Very disappointing and frustrating but the reason why I’ve written so much this time is that I don’t want someone else to be as heartbroken or disappointed as me or worse, totally conned and ripped off.Eventually as I said, I Bought my watch off eBay for £89 which is still a saving off the RRP of £120-140 but not as much a saving as a genuine second hand one for £50-£60. In any case, I depend on the waterproofness of my watch so I’m my case, I wanted a brand new one so that I didn’t have to have the added hassle of having the rubber gasket changed at a jewellers which you have to do every two years in conjunction with a new battery anyway (batteries last for 2 years with one press of the light a day, which is a little unrealistic, so I predict changing the battery after a year).Good luck and I hope the little comparison points I’ve given help you to identify whether your G-shock is real or not. Hope you get a good deal but it’s made me wary of buying things from Amazon as some unscrupulous sellers are beginning to flood the market on Amazon and you cannot just blindly trust Amazon anymore!

Note the watch is very large, on the Casio site it is listed as an 'oversize' watch, I knew it would be big but I didn't realize how big, so I advise that you consider the sizes provided to make sure it's right for you. Mine is in white and it's very vibrant (from some angles it can just look like a big lump of plastic and a tad toy-ish though), but it looks good. The build quality really is very high, the mineral glass cover feels durable and makes it feel like a premium watch for the money. Having so many notches in the wrist band also allows you to get the right fit. The buttons are not particularly easy to press and the point that they actually register with the display is only after the buttons have depressed all the way, however this does prevent them from being accidentally pressed if you knock the watch so I wouldn't want them easier to press. The user interface is not particularly easy to navigate (when it comes to settings etc), but you do get used to it. The speedometer at the top used for calculating speeds once you've inputted a distance is, in my opinion, a complete gimmick and I would have preferred a separate LCD panel perhaps showing the date permanently. The LED light works very well, as does the 'auto light' feature, but note that the feature does deactivate itself automatically 6 hours after activating because it drains the battery, so you would need to keep turning it on every 6 hours if you wanted it on permanently (not advised). The LCD panel CAN seem washed out in harsh lighting, but all of them do, and the black digits on light background is better than the white digits on black background in the other colours.AN IMPORTANT NOTE: The hands at particular times of day cover the LCD panels, and despite the hands having holes through them, it can make reading the panels very difficult. At times like 7:20 (when both the hour and minute hand cover the panel used for the stop watch), it makes using the stop watch near impossible, which is sort of a massive flaw... But might not bother some (I've never actually found myself in a situation where I've not been able to use it, but in concept it bothers me). The manual says the battery will last 2 years with 1.5 seconds of LED and 10 seconds of alarm every day. I use probably 6 seconds of LED light and 30 seconds of alarm a day (snoozing the alarm twice in the morning), so it may last less than this.Overall I am happy with the watch, if you're looking for a classic style icon that's exceptionally durable and will look just as good dirty and scratched up as the day you took it out of the box (although it won't scratch easily), go for it.

I read a lot of reviews and spent time (far more than I should have!) deliberating which G shock to get. I do lot of walking/sporty stuff and want a watch that I wouldn't need to remove for a 4 month trip to Asia. I love the look of analogue/digital watches and the balance of aesthetics and functionality in this watch really won me over. It's important to note that the main gripe people have with this watch (and the thing I was most concerned about) is the LED light that illuminates the face. I NEEDED this watch to be usable in the dark so was prepared to return the watch in the event of the watch being 'unreadable', as some people have described it as being. I cannot emphasise this enough,THE LIGHT IS ABSOLUTELY FINE. I am aware it's all down to personal preference, but I have absolutely no problem reading this watch - both the hands AND the digital screens - in the dark. Yes, it's not optimal - a light behind the screen would be more functional, but if you desperately require that feature you're better off buying the GD-100 or similar full digital G-shock anyway. The benefit of the light on this watch being where it is is that it can actually be used as a torch (albeit a weak one) in a pinch to illuminate a map or whatever you need to see in the dark. Also, remember that this single LED style of illumination is not exclusive to this watch - the £100+ analogue/digital G-shock watches also use this method of illumination. That's just how it is.Seriously - go try this on in a shop and see for yourself. The LED on this watch is BRIGHT and you will have no problem reading the watch in the dark. It also just looks awesome. It's just a makes the watch look really, REALLY cool. So in conclusion - the light is fine, don't let it put you off.The watch is extremely comfortable (I'm wearing it right now!) and not too big - but it's a G-shock, so obviously it's pretty big. Casio have managed to get the perfect balance of weight. It's sturdy and weighty enough that it doesn't feel cheap or plasticy, yet it's absolutely NOT what you would describe as a 'heavy' watch - indeed it is very light weight.Really can't say enough good things about this watch. At £55 (this watch is £110 on the high street!!) this watch is an absolute steal. Comes in a beautiful G-shock tin to boot. Absolutely brilliant, feature-full and practical watch. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

NOTE: This watch is MUSTARD - not a classic yellow! The picture of the watch on the wrist is either a bad picture or a picture of a different model (possibly an imitation - of course I could not be sure of this) ).Great watch.Very stylish looking and functionally it is on par with almost any g-shock before it.The World time feature is great and it is wonderful to see the clock hands move automatically to the right time. You can switch the world time and the current time. Some cons:CON1: At least For at least 20 minutes an our the minute hand will obscure the LCD screens. At times it makes the LCD screen unreadable. The hour hand will only partially obscure the LCD screens if it does at all. This will never make them unreadable.CON 2: The LCD screens :These are black with light grey text - this is a style over function decision. You can only see the LCD screens in perfect lighting conditions and with the watch tilted at just the right angle. If the stopwatch, timer and alarms are features you want to look at frequently - you will be frustrated by this very capable watchand I would not recommend that you part with your money. Other watches in this range have more readable LCD screens. If these are not your main use of this device, then it could be the best watch you could possibly have for the price. Conclusion :The watch is great as a general timepiece. It looks unique and is really stylish (You will be described by strangers as the one with the yellow watch)Be aware that this watch will not complement every clothing option you have and you will on some days be happy for it to simply 'not go' with what you are wearing. It is tough - shockproof, magnetism proof and waterproof to 200m (Which means swimming, surfing, diving and everything in-between are all in).The strap is great whether you wear it tight or loose (as I do).I recommend this watch.I also got the white one with the white face as there are times when I need to see the stopwatch and that model has a more sensible LCD with all the other wonderful features ... and it is white.(I think one of the black ones is in danger of joining the collection too ...... along with the red one possibly .... tell no-one you heard that from me!!)With the noted limitations .. This is great watch and the price puts it at least 4.75/5 stars.

I'd been looking through the range of Casio G Shock watches for a while as I wanted something for everyday use that was sturdier and less prone to damage than my Tag and Luminox. This I thought was the best looking of the watches in the range and at a great price (about £75). I'd read the reviews about the size of it but thought I'd give it a go.When it arrived it seemed huge (I have quite narrow wrists) but I wore it for a couple of days and quickly got used to it (so much so that wearing my other watches now feel likely ladies dress watches in comparison)This watch is extremely well made and solid with a good chunky strap. It has 4 button (one for the light and the others for the various functions and features). The manual is small but very thick and comprehensively covers all the modes and settings in an easy to understand way.The digital time is set to match the analogue time exactly and it has always been a minor niggle of mine on previous watches where the two are out of sync. There is a very good calibration feature where the two are easily recalibrated if they fall out of sync for any reason.Another nice feature is the movement of the minute hand which clicks round at 20 second intervals to match the digital time (rather than moving slowly round as with other watches). A minor thing but a nice touch i thought. The digital display can be toggled between the date and the time. The date does follow the american format of month then day but as one is above the other rather than both side by side I've not found this to be a particular problem. As others have noted, the light is the big let down on the watch. The led is located at the 6 o'clock position and fails to illuminate the entire face. Also the red hour hand is also difficult to see in the yellow light. It is still readable but could be better. For some strange reason Casio have also added luminous paint to the number positions around the outside of the face which would be great but for the fact that the hour and minute hand are unpainted rendering it totally useless in the dark and meaning you need to use the light at night.Overall its a fantastic and eye catching watch for the price. 4 stars for me. Would've been 5 if not for the lighting issue and if it had been maybe 3/4 of the size it is.

I'm a massive fan of G-Shock watches and have built up a pretty good collection over the years. This one was among one of my favourites and I genuinely used to get tons of compliments about it and always hadnpeople always asking me about it. The white and purple colour scheme with the grey buttons, definitely works nicely with this watch. As with all G-shocks, this one did not disappoint. It was my daily watch and I wore it pretty much everywhere and nearly all the time. It took an absolute beating, including getting bashed by dumbbells at the gym, scuba diving 20m under the sea, climbing up mountains and snowboarding just to name a few of the activities I put it through and it never missed a beat.Although an amazing watch, there are a couple of negative points. The white colour does start to discolour slightly in places where it has been scratched or bashed up a bit. The light on the watch is pretty terrible as it's one of the old style orange LED types that even in the dark, is still not the easiest to read. In direct bright sunlight, the LCD displays are really hard to read, although you've obviously always got the analog hands to read the time.Sadly my watch died after six years of heavy use but only as I had the battery changed at a local market where the water resistant seal was not properly replaced so water eventually after a couple of months got in and killed the watch. If you ever get the battery changed, then I recommend getting someone half decent to do it and not doing it on the cheap. That being said one battery lasted me about five years which you can't complain about.Overall it was a fantastic watch and realistically, I'll buy the same one again at some point as it just looked cool and I got no end of compliments for it.Hope this helps you out.

I was inspired to get a G-Shock watch from my dad, who owns an older version of a G-Shock (not sure what model) and at the time he bought his at roughly £200. I thought to myself that I was going to have to save my pennies up and then I went onto Amazon and saw this and many more like this and I thought that obviously either not got the gadgets like on my dad’s watch. No! I looked through the description on all of them and most of them were similar to my dad’s watch. I was looking on a similar G-Shock watch like this and found the colour option. Wow I know it’s amazing for someone who barely knows how to use amazon!!! But anyways I had a look on the blue one and this came up and I was like OMG THIS IS THE ONE I WANT!!!!!!!!I had a look in the description, saw that it had had what I wanted and had almost everything the same as my dad’s G-Shock and bought it. When I got a van pull up and a guy get out with a parcel a bit bigger than the avaerage hand, I was super excited and it was my G-Shock watch. I set it up and by the way, no matter how many settings there wer on this watch, the owners manual was super easy to follow and the watch actually did everything perfectly! I saw my dad and he liked it a lot and we started comparing things and apart from the fact that his watch is solar powered and used daylight to charge battery and all the technical stuff our watches were practically the same! And mine was about £150 cheaper so that was a slap in the face for dad ?

Granted, the styling is very dark, but that's the point of the style - it's dark. As such, night-time viewing of most of the watch is going to be difficult, but NOT the hands (hour/minute); which is the most important part! The hands are white and, opposed to what many reviewers here have said, the light DOES illuminate them perfectly well. Anyone who says otherwise really needs to get their eye-sight checked. On the subject of light, no, this watch doesn't have Indi-glo like other G-Shocks (which my previous one had). My hunch is that because Indi-glo is only for the LCD display, and a separate LED is needed to illuminate the hands, Casio just haven't bothered with both (for cost or technical reasons). In any case, unless you really need to operate the timer/stopwatch in the pitch black (maybe you're in Special Forces), the LED is more than sufficient to illuminate the hands as previously mentioned. My advice there would be to buy wholly digital watch, and not a combi. On the whole, the watch looks very good, is nice and chunky, has numerous functions (various timezones including UTC) that I haven't even attempted to play with yet, and is generally a pleasure to wear. I also suspect that because of the perforations in the strap, where it can be fastened, it'll be a bit less "sweaty" than most other rubber straps when worn for long periods. If you're a fan of the dark style, this is definitely an excellent choice - especially for the price!

Just received my new G-Shock and I gotta say I love it. It is super chunky, the matt finish looks great, the strap design is really awesome with the double hole clasp and the face is the business. The best feature is when reseting the time. the main dial handles automatically adjust themself, which has impressed the hell out of me. I've found myself a few times just changing the time for no reason other than seeing this action! The only draw back I have found so far is the light. My old G-Shock (bought in 2003 and only just about ready to be retired) had a full illuminated face, which made checking the time in the middle of the night really easy. The light on the 110 is actually really poor.No backlight, just a larger glow from the 6 o'clock position and some tiny side lights from 9 - 3 o'clock. In the dark I can't read the digital time and can only make out one of the handles (silver one - other is red). Obviously this isn't the end of the world, but it does mean I have to keep a second watch at the side of the bed to check the time when my little nippers wake up in the night - more inconvenient than anything. For this reason I'm going 4.5 stars. For the price this watch is currently offered at, I really do not think there are many better options. I've been looking to update from my old G for about a year, and this was the one watch that always stood out. I was patient and have save nearly £40 on the price I originally saw.

Purchased this watch as my first G-Shock. I have to say 2 years on and its still in fantastic working order. I never take this watch off (other then when im going to sleep) . I shower with it on, go to the gym with it on, play sports with it on. The watch has many different features and timezones which you can use if you are travelling abroad. It allows you to set various different alarms. It has a built in light to help you take a look at the time in the dark. The design is very military like, I call it the BATMAN Watch lol. Matte black design. The backlight is an orange colour and goes well with the watch. The watch itself is a comfy fit and the rubber design is very rugged. I have fell on the watch, scrapped along walls etc and it is still like new. I sometimes show off to my friends to show the durability of the watch and try to key the watch with my car key and hit the front lens with force. The watch effortlessly goes unaffected. (I am not recommending you do this to avoid causing any issues to the watch). I would love to buy another but I dont think I will be as my current one is going 2 years strong.IF your looking for a watch which is rugged and able to tackle weather sport gym and active life styles then this is the watch to buy. P.S looks great with jeans and casual wear. Its quite chunky on the wrist but a sleek chunky so it feels quite premium and the brand G SHOCK is known around the globe !

I bought this watch to replace my g shock mudman, which I've had for about six years and has been through a lot throughout the world. It still works great, I just fancied a change.I was looking for a watch which was black and had white hands, apart from some of the more expensive, metal g shocks (which I would have loved, but can't justify the price tag) this one fit the bill perfectly. The matte black finish on the casing, strap and face looks awesome. Some people might find the digital displays a little hard to see, I personally don't have an issue (I'm 32), however my dad struggled to see them (but he is 65 to be fair!!). Also some reviews have complained that they can't see the digital displays at 8:20 and 3:40ish,I haven't found this to be an issue, but if it is and you must know the day/date/seconds around that time, look a bit earlier!!!!!The light is awesome, it lights up the face of the watch nicely (not the digital displays though, just a warning to those who need to know the day/date/seconds at that particular moment). It has also helped me when fumbling around in the dark when the mrs is asleep, it's like a little torch (seriously, try it).All in all it's a great watch that looks smart. I haven't done anything too extreme with it yet, but it's time will come.Only annoyance was that it was reduced by £7, two days after I recieved it, oh we'll, it's still a great watch.

I really wanted to buy a G-Shock, have been looking at them for a long time but never bit the bullet. Decided I would get one as it was my birthday!! I looked at a lot of models on-line and eventually settled on this. I was not disappointed. It is a big watch, no question, but not so big that it looks hideous. It is a very sturdy watch but surprisingly light at the same time. The face of the watch is well protected and you would want to be very unlucky to scratch it.As previous reviews have said it is discreet, but still nice enough for people to comment. I find it very unusual with an all black finish but it is very attractive. I have had quite a few people comment on it so far,and at the price you cant go wrong. Setting up the time etc was no problem, although I had to refer to the manual on a few occasions and being male that wasnt easy!!I have also seen in previous reviews that the backlight does not really do its job. All I can add to that is that it shows the analogue time very clearly, but it is nigh on impossible to read the digital displays using the backlight. Not an issue for me though as the analogue time is fine.In short if you have been looking at this model for a while and considering buying it, just do it, you wont regret it, it really is a quality watch

I found the single yellowy LED at the six o'clock position rather retro, but does a good job at lighting up the analogue face in the dark. No good for using all the LCD display features in the dark tho - if you need to use the timers in the dark, go for a watch with a black glow display. The strap is long enough for me. I have huge hands and wrists and both the watch body and the strap are the right size for me. Skinny, small-handed mortals might be better off with a smaller sized watch. The LCD display isn't the easiest to read, but is also very subtle. Generally, the white hands are really clear to glance at and see the time. The digital features require a bit of focus. Those people with poor short range vision might struggle.I got this on offer at 55GBP and consider it a bargain. I've recently admitted to myself I do indeed need to return to wearing a watch. It's comfortable and comes with a reputation for being sturdy; yet it's still cheap enough that I'm not worried about wearing it all the time (chainsaws, hammers, handling livestock) - if it does get damaged, it's affordable enough to replace. I do find I need to remove it for working out, but it does fit nicely over the end of an olympic barbell.

Received this watch today, and it's a beauty!I'm a big fan of G-Shocks anyway, I currently have 8 in my collection, but this is already one of my favourites. Slightly bigger than the others, but still very comfortable to wear and fairly light considering it's size.As expected from Casio, it has loads of fantastically complicated functions, multiple alarms, stopwatch, countdown timer etc. I suspect most people will do what I do though, and just use it as a watch!I chose this model above some of the other similar ones because the hands are nice and clear. There are some in the G-Shock range with a red hour hand, which is apparently quite hard to see in low light conditions. This one has nice bright white hands, which stand out nicely. If I was being picky, the only thing which seems odd to me is the small hand at the 12 o'clock position. It looks like a sweeping second hand or a stopwatch second hand, but is in fact some sort of indicator for calculating speed over a set distance (I think!). Totally pointless, and it sits at a strange angle which will be annoying until I get used to it.Overall though, an awesome watch and worthy of 5 stars all the way!

very hard to find in this "flavour" of all black, but it looks exceptional for it and gives it a "stealthy" look. Absolutely superb build quality, and VERY large! gets lots of admiring looks and comments and feels virtually indestructable, I truly believe I could run this over with my car and it wouldn't get damaged!! the white hands on the all-black background make it incredibly easy to read at a glance though the hands have no lume on them (come on casio, it's not that expensive) though not a problem as the LED at 6o'clock lights the whole face. The secondary info dials are a "reverse" type that lots of other g-shock owners without this feature try to replicate. Very light, and very comfortable I find I can wear this all day without irritation, sometimes forgetting it's there at all it is that light. Did I mention this thing is BIG!?! haven't had time or inclination if i'm honest to learn how to use the other features such as the velocity indicator and world time zones, but then I have no need of them. If you want a chunky, well built waterproof, shock proof magnetic resistance watch you can't go wrong with this. Did I mention that it's BIG?
