I've used this on a few runs now and I have to say that I really like it. It is much better than my Forerunner 15 that it replaces. What always annoyed me with the Forerunner 15 was that it took ages (and I mean about 5 minutes sometimes) to get a satellite fix. When you just want to get out and have a run, the last thing you want is to be waiting for your watch to catch up. Luckily the 25 gets a satellite fix much quicker indeed. Within about 10 seconds I was good to go on most of my runs. The screen is still good old LCD black and white, but higher resolution than its predecessor so the text is crisper and more text can be fitted onto the screen. It all looks pretty nice and is easy to read when you're out on a run,it is backlit too if you run in dark or low light conditions. This GPS watch now has Bluetooth connectivity which is really useful as it lets you upload your runs to your IOS or Android devices via Bluetooth so you can view your run summary via Garmin Connect when you've completed your run. I love this as I spend a lot of time away from home and do not have a PC to connect to to upload my runs to Strava. As long as you have your Garmin connect set up to upload runs to Strava it does it all for you. It even has live tracking so friends or family can see where you are. However, to use this, you have to have it connected via Bluetooth and your phone with you. It will also notify you of text messages, incoming calls and twitter notifications etc when out on a run if you have your phone with you and connected to the watch. It does work too! When out for a run, there are 2 customisable screens which can show pace, average pace, distance, heart rate, lap time etc. So basically, you can choose 4 bits of data to be able to look at during your run which is fine for those who just want the basics (like me!). It picked up my foot-pod straight away as well as my heart rate monitor which was good.If you're into it, it is also an activity tracker so it will keep a track of your steps and your sleep pattern. You can switch this function off if you're not interested too. It is quite a nice feature though as the 25 now looks a bit more like a 'normal' watch compared to the 15 it replaces.Comfort wise it is really nice and an improvement over the 15. The strap is much more flexible and comfortable in use and there are holes along most of the strap so it will fit wrists of all sizes. In summary, this is the GPS running watch I wanted when I bought the 15. It is more comfortable, quicker to get a GPS fix, the screen is easy to read and connectivity wise, the Bluetooth function to upload runs to your IOS/Android device is excellent. I'm happy with my purchase and highly recommend it.

I've been using this watch for tracking my runs for a couple of months now, and am extremely satisfied with it. I'm not a pro runner by any means, but am currently working towards a half marathon, and this watch is suiting me down to the ground.I've got the larger version, and it's not too big for my relatively skinny wrists. It's very light, and the strap is replaceable (I think a new strap is about £15). It's an entry level watch, so don't expect it to feel like a premium device, but it's certainly sturdy enough. It was extremely easy to set up, and pairing with my (android) phone was a doddle through the very robust Garmin Connect app. Your runs are automatically uploaded to your phone via bluetooth, and if you'd rather use Strava or Runkeeper, Garmin Connect can automatically transfer the data over. I've actually pretty much stopped using runkeeper now, as the level of analysis you get through Garmin Connect is absolutely brilliant, and it's all for free as well.I've been able to charge it through my phone charger without any issues at all, with the battery lasting for about 10 days of daily activity tracking and about 15-20 miles of running a week. The watch has customisable data fields, so you can see any combination of pace/distance/time/lap time etc. You can only see two fields at once, which might be a dealbreaker for some people, but I don't find the occasional switching between screens too much of a hassle. You can also set it to keep you at a target pace (or heart rate if you use the heart rate strap), or to run a set time or distance. There's also a run/walk function which might be useful for interval training, but I've not used it. The alerts are loud enough for me, but I don't usually run with music. There's no vibrate function. It would be nice to have the ability to put training plans on the watch, but I understand why Garmin have reserved this function for higher end watches. Accuracy/precision are good - it reliably records my 5k circuit each time, and corresponds closely with measurements from an online measuring tool and my phone. There have been a couple of occasions where the watch hasn't picked up a satellite fix for a while, but this is probably less than 1 in 20 runs. Normally you're good to go within 30s of stepping outside.Overall, if you want in depth analysis on the go of your runs, or the ability to be guided through sessions by your watch, then this probably isn't for you, but if you just want to get out there and get running, this is just the thing.

I bought this chap to replace my Forerunner 305 (see photo) which is about eight years old and still working fine. The main reason for the change is that I wanted something with larger readout. If you're new to these type of gadgets, they record and store all sorts of data and to get the best benefit you'll need to download GarminConnect and it displays all manner of fancy graphics about your speed or pace, distance, time etc, see the second picture.I didn't bother ordering with a heartrate monitor as the one which came with my 305 is still in it's original wrapper so I guessed I'd never be interested in using a new one. This Garmin has a nice soft strap, and the loop on it has been thoughtfully given a little nib which stops it sliding round your wrist. There's just four buttons on it; top left for On/Off and light (with auto off), bottom left for Back function, bottom right for scrolling down the menu's (they aren't too long so as to need an up scrolling button), and the top right (coloured) button for Start/Stop/Enter. All in all I'd say this is a decent entry-level GPS watch which feels nice in the hand and which I found intuitive in use. The only downside I've found is that it doesn't display an altitude (or at least I can't find it) like the 305 does, but your ascents and descents are all recorded and displayed when you go log into GarminConnect.Enjoy your shopping!

Loses a star for how long it can take to connect to gps, the longest I’ve had is 20 minutes.I have the edge 25 for cycling, that is also cheap and works well but at times can be slow to acquire gps so was sort of expected.I got fed up of running with my phone in a bum bag so decided on this, at the price it’s a no brainer. I don’t care for heart rate and such bumf, I’m not an athlete just a casual runner, but having how fast per Km on my wrist does actually help. Battery life seems excellent so far and it connected easily to Garmin connect. I like it, gps waiting aside, it’s a great bit of kit.Update.Owned and used for a few weeks now and the waiting for gps is becoming a proper pain.If you are tight on time and need to quickly get out and run, then avoid.I get in from work and immediately turn on the device and press start.I can then get changed, put shoes on and be ready, the device is never ready. I have walked round the garden, stood on the drive in the cold waiting, it’s driving me nuts. When connected it works great but if I could return it I wouldShame**further update. After doing a bit of googling I have found that gps connection problem can affect a lot of these devices. After following some advice I now leave the forerunner outside on the window ledge facing the sky, whilst I get ready, it now connects within a few minutes.I’m back in love with it.

I do not like carrying a cel-phone with me while running, so I am not using cel-phone applications for running. Thus I need convenient, simple in use, reliable and rather precise GPS watch to obtain information about distance and pace. This Garmin Forerunner 25 has all qualities I need. In addition, it has more features than I use, so I cannot comment on those (the good thing that having these features does not complicate my use of the watch!). I like that it finds location really fast (much faster than Forerunner 15 I used to have before), also, I like that the digits are big. I really like a possibility to connect the watch to the Garmin Connect webs-site and to obtain various information about the run, including route map, height profile, pace, cadence etc. The only small drawback is that I do not always hear notifications alarms during run , say, lap or pace notifications (my hearing is fine, and the noise level is a usual one for urban conditions). Summing up, for my purposes, it is a very good GPS watch.Read full review...

As a newbie-turned-addict to the running community, it was about time I upgraded the accuracy in monitoring my efforts. I had only been tracking via apps previously. I chose the Garmin Forerunner 25 as it fit right within my budget and going my reviews it fit the criteria, plus I quite like purple.I'm very happy with the watch. A few minutes tops to locate GPS to run, sometimes quicker but want to be realistic. It's easy to use. Garmin Connect is very simple to navigate and check your progress, you soon get down with all the running terminology - more than I ever thought I would at least. Daily steps and sleep tracker too - very interesting to see. Alarm clock is handy (literally!)- you can only set one time with the alarm in five minute increments. Battery rates very well too. Naturally using GPS run mode will drain this sooner but just has a watch/sleep tracker/step counter - I've seen the battery last well over a week before needing charged.

This product has mixed reviews on amazon but the price was great and it did what I wanted most (average pace whilst running). I also loved my old model garmin so I ordered one. In response to some of the other reviews, I have no issue with the strap and can’t see how it would come off. I also find it picks up the GPS really quickly (way faster than my older model used to). It’s really easy to use, the app is great and it’s really doing what I needed it to do - push me out of the door to run! I can see my average pace on the same screen as my calories used which is fab for me. I wasn’t intending to wearing it other than whilst running but the step counter means I don’t take it off.Ok so it’s not a sophisticated looking watch and is clearly a sports watch, but I’m really pleased with it and for the price I’m totally in-love and recommending it to all my friends.

Bought this after doing a lot of searching on different watches and speaking to people at work. The watch is very easy to set up once plugged into the computer and is easy to navigate. It usually takes a couple of minutes to lock onto the satellites but sometimes does it a bit quicker. It gives you time, calories, distance and average pace on the watch when you stop it. Starting it is easy, push the big red button, Garmin must have known I would buy one and made it simple to use!!!!!! Once you sync it to your Garmin account, again very easy to sort out, it gives you the map of your run for future reference. It charges via a USB and the battery last forever, this will change the more you use it for running.Good buy and would buy another if I needed to replace the one I have got.

I really like this product and for £80ish pounds seems to be great value - my only slight regret was that this model does not have a heart rate monitor. At the end of the day there was a £50 price difference between this and the forerunner 35 and I figured it was just not worth it.This watch itself has a great charge - out of the box it lasted 5 days of continuous use (with GPS on for 3 hours of that time.)I have found it quick to locate satellites - just do allow a minute for it to do so.Step tracking I have found to be very accurate --- still not quite sure how it manages that one with something on your wrist.I really just wanted a device that records steps inside and outside, and records run durations for upload to Strava---- both of which this does seamlessly.

I chose this model as it was the cheapest tracking GPS Garmin to have blue-tooth transfer. I was not interested in watches with colour displays or any advanced features as I would not use them. Wears very comfortably on the supplied soft rubber type strap. Works exactly as advertised, with excellent GPS and step tracking. Battery life is as advertised with around 10 hours on GPS or about a month if just tracking steps. Bluetooth transfers data to my Android phone without intervention using the Garmin Connect app. I initially connected the watch to my PC, installing the Garmin Connect software. This worked fine at first but caused the occasional blue screen on the WIN 10 PC.The PC was fine after the software was uninstalled and has not blue-screened since.

I bought this for my wife who is an orienteer. It's a bit fiddly to use, and it sometimes takes a bit of time to make a GPS connection, but it generally works exactly as expected and links up with Garmin online software via a PC usb connection to upload walk or race records. From the Garmin web site the recorded performance can be downloaded for use with Routegadget after orienteering events. When GPS is off this works well as a digital watch with time and date shown. Needs to be recharged frequently for use as a GPS device, but as a watch, with GPS turned off, it seems to run for at least a week (we have not checked how long it will last). There is lots of online information about the watch including videos, reviews, and Garmin instructions.

Does it what it says on the can! Compact,- my wife is quite petite and it sits well on her wrist.Easy to set up straight out of box. Bluetooth took a couple of attempts on my wife's phone (for whom this was purchased)but we eventually learned that her phone wasn't compatible with a LTE connection, so abandoned further attemptsSo did not bother with Garmin connect app but instead sync every few days to the web portal. For the price, I am quite pleased with this.COI: I have a Garmin vivoactive smart which I have used for the last 18 months (more than a 1000 miles of running).

My previous Garmin watch (Forerunner 10) finally stopped working after years of use and I was looking for a replacement. I decided to buy the Forerunner 25 and have not been disappointed. Does everything I need it to do and picked up the GPS signal rather quickly. I really like the bluetooth feature as I can connect it straight to the Garmin app on my phone and no longer have to connect it to my PC to upload my run. (You do need to connect it to the PC initially to upload the software update). I would definitely recommend this watch.

Won't pair with my android phone but not a deal breaker for me, otherwise very good and does the job as expectedEdit - finally got it paired after a lot of messing about. First of all got it connected using a setting hidden away to troubleshoot Bluetooth, just scroll to the last setting. This allowed a pairing but it wouldn't connect on it's own but found an app which was aptly called "Reconnect garmin Watch" and now works faultlessly. Very pleased but will still held off the 5 stars, I shouldn't have to go to all that trouble.

Nice and light compared to my g shock watch, pity it isn't waterproof as I could just leave it on and forget.Takes about a minute to connect to satellites which is too long for some, I just let it connect during stretching/warmup and its ready when I am finished.I like the added features of an alarm and bluetooth connectivity to your phone so you can receive notifications which I had not realised it had.It also works well as a watch with the big display, I like the strap it is comfortable and does not dig in to my wrist.
