This is of very good solid quality and gives excellent pictures on my old nikon AIS lenses. It's all metal with good mounts at both ends. I have a 50/1.4 and a 135/2.8. The 50/1.4 is pretty mushy at f1.4 and needs stopping down to f2/f2.8 for good image quality but at f1.4 the narrow DOF is charming and gives some 'nice' soft pictures that bring a smile to your face and take you back to film days when narrow DOf was possible. I ordered the non-G lens one but they actually sent me the more expensive G lens one by mistake. It's actually better as it has an aperture open/close slider. With the non-G one the aperture presumably just closes with the lens aperture ring. The open/close slider has a great advantage even with AIS lenses that have an aperture ring. You can set the required aperture and then open the slider to give best light/dof for focus. While still looking at the display and still composed for the shot (you've just focused) you can close the slider to deploy the aperture that will allow you to set the exposure and shoot. Being able to flick the slider without looking is important as you can't see the aperture ring. With the non-G type you would have to focus with the aperture stopped down unless you can 'feel' the aperture stops without looking. At f11/16/22 the display starts to get too dark and mushy to focus.

I've bought cheaper adapters before for mounting different lenses to my Olympus Pen, but thought I would try something a little more expensive this time. I've bought a Fotodiox reproduction lens cap for my Rolleiflex before and was very impressed with the quality of that item, so they were a brand that I trusted. I'm glad that I spent a little more! It feels like a quality item and is well finished. It is ribbed internally to prevent internal reflections. Both mounts fit positively, without either being too tight or having any slack. I'd read some reviews about the locking button being of poor quality, but it feels sturdy and positive in operation to me. The infinity focus is spot on too.The cheaper adapters are not made with such precision or the same tolerances and try to focus past infinity.A great item! For very little money I can fit beautifully made, readily available and cheap old Nikkor lenses to my digital camera and reap the reward of visibly sharper photographs. On a personal note, I much prefer the handling of my Pen with manual lenses fitted. Simply set it to aperture priority, focus, select the aperture and shoot. It handles just like the old manual film cameras that I am used - no buttons to hold whilst pressing down other buttons to change the aperture, just a simple aperture ring to turn. Bliss!

Well-made product. You need to use lenses that have both manual focus rings and manual aperture rings, since you have to set both manually. There will be no autofocus. I attached Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens to a Lumix GF3 body and it's fine, since that lens has both a focus ring and an aperture ring. On the GF3, turning on "MF Assist" and touching the screen to activate it can help you get your focusing perfectly sharp at shallower depths of field when necessary. You'll have to use Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority or full-manual mode. Metering works fine. Your photos will not have EXIF information for things like f-stop, exposure bias, and focal length, but exposure time and ISO will be recorded in the data. You must set the camera to "Shoot w/o Lens" or it'll tell you there's no lens attached.Take your time and be careful attaching the adapter to the lens. Look carefully to see where everything lines up. Mounting the lens with the adapter to the camera body is just like mounting any m4/3 lens.I recommend this product and give it five stars, since it does exactly what it is supposed to do.

I purchased an Olympus E-PM1 as a second camera to carry around when I don't want to lug the big DSLR. Well I have a nice 50mm prime lens that I love and wanted to give it a shot on the E-PM1. For the price, it's a great value so I figured I'd buy the Nikon to MFT adapter.I was very happy with the build quality. It was a snug fit on the Olympus and the 50mm prime snapped right on. I didn't have any problems figuring out how to get it to work like some people did, but I'm a little more tech-savy than most I guess. You WILL have to MANUAL focus as there are no electronic pins connecting the camera to the lens, so if this scares you then don't buy it.All in all,I am extremely pleased with this purchase and am considering buying the Canon adapter. If you're comfortable with manually focusing your camera this is such an easy product to use, I don't see why you wouldn't spend a little money on it. Highly recommend.

I now own three Fotodiox micro 4/3 adapters, and have yet to be disappointed with their performance. This Nikon adapter was exceptionally tight when attaching to the lens, in a good way. This combination appears to focus up to infinity and not past it, so it is convenient for a no look long distance focus shot.Instructions are not really required as long as you understand the lens attaches to your adapter just like it attaches to the camera it was meant for and will release in a similar fashion.I went from open box to successful attachment of lens in about 30 seconds. My only issue is that the open close aperture control seems to operate the opposite of what it indicates, so I may be doing something wrong.I don't consider it a major problem. Another good investment made for using my old glass.

This is a well made adaptor. The only down side is that the inside is not matte black. This can give rise to some flare at times when shooting into the sun. A lens hood does not help. This may vary depending on the focal length of lens fitted. and aperture used.Mine will be used with a Sigma 105 mm f2.8 macro with a Nikon Mount. There is no flare when used as a macro lens.It is used with a Panasonic G5. Remember that there is NOT a connection between the lens and the body when used with an adaptor. Set the camera to " no lens fitted " this is in the custom menu. Set the camera to aperture priority and you are ready to use. This model of the adaptor is the one for Nikon lenses with a manualaperture control ie D lenses.

Wow, this is just way better than what I had expected. Sure, there's not much to this piece but I still expected it to be kinda hokey from some of the reviews. But no, this is a rock solid, perfectly fitted little piece of metal. It attaches to my GM1 with the same feel as the native Panasonic lenses I have for it, and my Nikkor glass feels just like mounting them on my F body. Nice and tight, smooth and easy. I have a couple of VERY old Nikkor lenses (mid-'60s) where it's a bit finicky finding the sweet spot where the lens will come away from the adapter but my newer lenses ('80s and '90s F-Mount glass) are perfect. No trouble focusing to infinity other than you can go slightly beyond it.Just great.

Overall, this adapter does the job admirable. My only complaint with it was that it felt a little loose on the mount, and the release for the nikon lens is a bit flimsy. I emailed fotodiox and they told me that there are some notched tabs on the inside of the adapter. Take a small flat head screwdriver and widen the tabs and it will make the fit tighter. That worked perfectly. I'm using it with a vintage 55mm f2.8 macro lens and it has taken some beautiful pictures.I would highly recommend this, especially if they could make a better lens release. There is nothing technically wrong with it, it just dosen't inspire confidence in that particular part's build quality. The rest is great.

Works on my Olympus m4/3 camera to use my Nikon lenses from the 1970's.These lenses seem to have a visual character all of their own. Build quality seems adequate although the release pin is sometimes a bit awkward to work when detaching the lens. The mount connecting to the camera is not chromed metal but seems to be painted aluminium and my only concern that is with use some of this paint may detach and find it way to the sensor. It seems ok at the moment though so maybe my concerns are unfounded. Good value for an item that allows for those occasions when I want to experiment with different my old Nikon lenses and works fine on the camera in manual mode.

Purchased to use my original-vintage (1974) Micro-Nikkor 55mm/3.5 lens (non-Ai) on my Olympus OM-D e-m5 mark II body.Everything fits perfectly and securely--no complaints. The in-camera metering works properly without any fiddling with menus. You have to select M, S, or A mode, if I recall. The aperture ring on the lens works well to control the aperture; focus is controlled with the focus ring on the lens barrel--just like the good old days! The nice part is that the focal length on my micro-four-thirds body now becomes a 110mm macro lens, which is just theideal distance for shooting/lighting jewellery, which is what I use it for.

The adapter works very well with the lenses and accessories I have used it with. Sturdy build, and holds the lenses in place with no fear of it coming apart, even heavier lenses. Is not immediately obvious the latch release for taking off the lenses from the adapter, but once you figure it out, it's very straightforward. And despite a potentially damaging manner of taking it off before realising, the adapter held together and showed no signs of wear even from forcing it, which gives me confidence it will last. Don't hesitate to get it if you need one, so far no complaints with it, and I expect that not to change anytime soon

Prior to purchasing this, I was skeptical about the quality, having seen the cheaper lens adapters one can get off eBay. However, Fotodiox is very, very well engineered. It's solid feeling, attaches securely, and feels/looks/acts like a far more pricier item. It also happens to do its simple job perfectly. The lens--in this case, a treasured old Nikon 50mm 1.8--is securely attached to the body and doesn't feel flimsy at all.In the end, this product opened up a whole new world of photography for me. Using old manual lenses reconnects me with the art of photography, and I'm glad this company is around to make that possible.

I use with the AF100, I had no problems, I was surprised with sturdy construction and a very professional look for the low price I think you get more than what is expected, a good alternative to very expensive than other brands serve the same purpose, as any photographic or video equipment, its duration depends on the proper use and care you have, if I recommend the adapter, but would tell the manufacturers to devise a better system to release the lens, as the lever seems , at first impression, very delicate and time use of this lever will tell

I did a huge amount of research into a Nikon to Lumix G2 adaptor and discovered that it's quite a large market for items like this. There are all sorts of scare stories abut fittings jamming, lenses not focussing on infinity and general poor quality. This adaptor by Fotdiox is none of the above - it was despatched the day I ordered it and it arrived from the USA in 5 days, it's beautifully made, heavy and fits perfectly. My Nikon lenses all mount correctly and all focus on infinity and it's a joy to use, I recommend it

The Fotodiox adapter provided me with the opportunity to use my existing Nikon lens with my E-PL1. Sure you have to use manual focus, but you still have all the other E-PL1 tools available. The adapter is well made and worked without problems. Showed it to a couple of photographer friends and they were motivated to go out and buy an E-PL1 and adapter just for the fun of using all there SLR lens with this easy-to-carry and use micro 4/3 format camera.
