I take a lot of close-up photographs and have always wanted a ring flash but those from brand names are expensive and if they did not perform they way I wanted then that would be an expensive waste of money. Neewer supply a ring flash at a very reasonable cost - £23.99. See: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00JO64MY6/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_36The flash is easy to attach. It comes with a range rings (49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm) that screw onto the front of the lense to be used. In my case a 60mm Micro Nikkor that takes a Neewer 62mm ring. (See:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-Micro-NIKKOR-60mm-2-8D/dp/B00005LE77/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1534951991&sr=8-16&keywords=nikon+macro+lens)The flash then slots onto the ring. The control unit is mounted on the flash hot-shoe and has several setting which allows considerable flexibility as to how to illuminate the subject. The main point of using a ring flash is due to the soft even lighting it provides. It does so because the light is on and surrounds the lens. Other flash units are mounted offset from the lens and means the light is harsher and angled compared to a ring flash.A ring flash is just that a 'ring' in this case a series of LEDs set in a circle behind a ring of diffusing plastic. Other, much more expensive, ring flashes used a circular flash tube but the advances in LED technology has allowed Neewer to come up with something very close to the previous standard of ring flash units.I read the reviews of this Neewer unit very carefully and I took account of the criticisms: that is was made of cheap, thin, plastic; that the pieces did not fit together; that it dimmed after two hours of use and most of all that 'ate' batteries at ferocious rate.Yes, it is rather flimsy but at the price can you complain? The ring light dimmed after two hours of constant use - surprise, surprise, this is not a professional unit. For me all the parts fitted together very well. If you want such a robust ring flash buy one from Nikon, Canon etc. for 25x the price of this Neewer. Did it 'eat' batteries? I don't know because I don't take close-up photographs hour after hour. Even if I did I would make sure that plenty of charged, rechargeable, batteries on hand before hand.

This is a first class ring flash for the discerning creative photographer. It automatically synchronised with my Canon 70D across a range of shutter speeds and even when working at extreme close ups - under 4 inches from the subject - there is much latitude in controlling the light output. On the NEEWER unit itself power can be reduced with a simple button and adjustment of the ISO/film speed and shutter/aperture on the camera allows you to fine tune the amount of light required. Indeed given that there is an option to use either the left or right half of the LEDs available by careful twisting of the front it is possible to manage the light output as solely top or bottom as suits. This ring flash is very versatile as it is supplied with oyster and white diffusers together with blue (cool)and orange (warm) to balance the ambient light. Carefully managed, particularly with close ups/macro, the subject is beautifully lit but renders the shadows with soft edges which is far more pleasing on the eye.The whole set is supplied in a close fitting box and all the individual components are supplied in clear re-seal cellophane envelopes enabling the user to keep all parts clean/dust free. All the filter rings to enable attachment to a variety of lenses are marked but the text is very small, due to the space available, but by labelling one of the cellophane envelopes this is easily remedied. It is of plastic construction as are so many things - motor cars, electrical products etc - and with a little care should last for a lifetime. For the heavy-handed you could probably buy 10 of these and still have change from a metal version as the price is so reasonable. This is a handsome piece of kit that any creative photographer would be pleased to own and makes an ideal gift. Heartily recommended.

This does what I wanted: a continuous, portable, fill light source for outdoor macro using large apertures and focus stacking. It seems to do that fairly well.Just tried it out on my nikon dslr and tamron sp90With the diffuser on and at max output, exposure was about 1/200 f8 iso 1600 i.e about 10EV for a subject about 6-8 inches away from front of lens. Generally got 10-11 EV equivalent. Ideally would have liked another stop but its OK for me as a fill light.Note on using it as a flash:This is not a substitute for a traditional fast ring flash:I think that it is a flash only do far as when it gets the sync signal from the camera it just ramps up the diodes from off to the same level as for the continuous light and then switches it off a short time later. This is nothing like a true strobe which has to sync accurately within the shutter open time of eg 1/200 sec for a typical FP shutter and fires a burst for maybe 1/1000 to 1/10000 sec.I think the function of the "flash" is mostly to conserve battery lifeOther points: battery case stiff - see how it does might be showing it a file soon. The diffuser surround was a swine to get off - seems to have been over tightened. Eventually shifted it with wd40.Its pretty well made for the price all in all and I am happy to keep it.Nice points: the ring just clips on/off to the adapter and is very light. The hotshoe mounted battery pack/controller is fine for me.I see that some related products have the batteries in holders around the ring: ok if you have a heavy lens with metal filter thread but wouldn't risk it on any lens with a plastic thread.

As new to the world of macro photography, was looking for a first time flash that wasn't off the camera, and better lighting than the built in flash on my Nikon D60.Read all the reviews, before purchasing the Macro Led Light Ring, and it arrived today, well packaged, after un packaging the item and sorting through the adapter rings for the light, my only small bug is that the ring adapters are not stamped with the sizes on and takes a little time picking the right lens adapter supplied to be able to use the ring.As I have a few different lens sizes ranging from 58mm all way up to 67mm, would have been nice to glance at the rings and put straight on without having to fiddle and match up theadapters for the right one for the lens used. All in all that's my only little niggle with it.It fits lovely into the horseshoe mount at the top of my Nikon D60 and screw it firmly into place, sits securely atop the camera and works lovely, easy to use and set what you want from a full light always on to a flash that can be brightened or dimmed with just a push of a button, also can set the Leds to flash from half of the ring from either left side or the right, would recommend this Led Macro Light as a first time light source for getting into macro photography or even portraits.Well worth the money and very happy with it.

I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a ring flash as it was lockdown purchase and I'm not normally a macro photographer, however I'm pretty pleased with what I've got and first impressions are not bad. I was impressed with the number of adaptor rings supplied, although as they are plastic I do worry how robust they are. Typically, one of the lenses I wanted to use today has an 88mm filter thread and the largest adaptor supplied is 77mm, but fortunately I had a step-up ring. The downside however was that the ring flash was visible in the image, even at 70mm. The flash synced fine with my Canon 5Dmk4, although it takes a bit of playing around to find the right exposure settings. Two complaints - (i)the adaptor rings are not marked so it's trial and error finding the right size; and (ii) the lugs on the ring flash aren't very effective at keeping it on - it fell off both lenses I was using it on several times today. Good job it's attached by the cord! Overall though, for less than £30 it's definitely a useable piece of kit and you can't really go wrong at that price.

Absolutely no hesitation in giving this five stars. Reading the negative reviews I can't believe they are referring to the same item. Yes I do have a couple of small niggles like the brightness could do with a couple of notches less in the adjustment, and it would have been handy had the unit could have been separated from the lamp to make assembly on the camera easier. But I haven't had any bits fall off, haven't experienced any vignetting (shadows in the corners) with my 50mm lense. Have been using it on the end of home made slide copier against a white card and so far have taken over 700 photos turning the lamp on for 10-15 secs at a time and I have just taken a batteries out to check them and they are more than three quarters full.So I don't call the over draining on batteries (although I have not used it to make a video with the lamp on continuously) Anyway Ikea batteries are only a couple of quid for ten. All in all I think for £20 quid this flash is amazing and nothing about this bit of equipment is comparable to the Pound Shop in my opinion.

For the price this is great. It offers plenty of light for close up Macro work, allowing f/11 at 10cm and 1/100 sec and ISO 250 at full power viewing a cardboard box (the closest I have to a grey card). The light will drop off quickly as distance increases, so can be used for "subtle" fill flash only at more normal working distances. The power can be changed but it isn't that much of a difference, about 1 stop only.It works fine on flash more on my Sony A6000 and Sony Nex-6.It can be used as a flash or on constant. The LED head fits OK onto the screw on lens filter adaptors (which are provided) but the light head rotates around - not a problem unless you use the flash option from the left or right hand side only,as they are more likely to be top/bottom orientated.Annoying is that you can't fit a lens cap once the light is fitted as the adaptor has no threaded recess. All in all excellent for the money.

For its intended purpose, close-ups with a micro lens, it lights up brilliantly. However, flash-ring may form vignetting on other lenses at wide angles. Over all, at a fair price, it makes close-photography enlightening fun for an amateur!LED-ring can also be used held off camera, with the flexible cord connected, using flash or light, and as a torch light.Plastic tread on lens-mount adaptors can easily get stuck on metal filter rims. Construction of LED-ring may appear a bit flimsy, yet function of light adjustment and lcd screen is fine. The Set button is described as vacancy button, awaiting future upgrade! For rainy days out; there is no IP marking or weatherproofing visible.I would bring an umbrella.

This kit not only being cheaper than others offered on Amazon was I can honestly say impressive for what it has offered, I needed this bundle to use in tandem with my Macro lens and have been looking around for a while for something that was affordable and actually worked, I don't use it day to day but in bouts of when 'small finds' are needed to be imaged. SO far I can honestly say its worth the money and works with both of my DSLR's a Pentax and NIKON. Give it a try before purchasing the more expensive equipment you might be pleasantly surprised. I've only had it a few months so I'm not sure as to its longevity.

if you want to get into this type of photography then I highly recommend this flash. Its actually brilliant for portraiture, and I even used it to take photos of my new born daughter and it worked really well to give a really professional studio type lighting. Its definitely worth bearing in mind you get what you pay for, the filters a adapter rings are plastic and easily damaged but its camera equipment, you don't throw a camera around. I highly recommend this flash and think its a great budget option ring flash for anyone. If you can be creative, then you can use this ring flash to great effect

I purchased this ring flash bundle for use with my Nikon D5500 and AF-S DX Micro Nikkor 40mm f2.8G lens, see photo. The main reason for this purchase is macro photography. It's a total success! Easy to fit and operate. I love being able to switch left and right lights as well as 'all' on. The bundle comes with attachment rings for a variety of lens and comes with two coloured filters (yellow & blue), an opaque filter and a clear filter. The whole unit is well made. IT'S GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY. You wont be disappointed.

Having just received this item , i immediately decided to try it out . Although it is not advertised as being compatible with Pentax DSLR's , i was pleased to find that all funtions including flash mode worked on my Pentax K5 . The LED's are extremely bright and should be more than adequate for use in macro photography . With all the supplied adapter rings and various diffusers and a handy flash stand to mount the power unit off camera , this kit is excellent value for money . Highly recommended .

A very nice product for the price, obviously not a pro level device but for everyday consumer use, its ideal. Fitted and working within moments of opening the pack - controls are simple and intuitive. Cable is a bit chunky and intrusive on my small camera, but the adaptors and optional stand ensure its useable with a variety of lenses. Build quality seems fairly robust and the intensity of the flash is more than adequate, with full control of brightness and left/right direction. Very pleased.

I have read reviews which are critical of the plastic construction. Yes it is plastic but it seems pretty robust for a casual amateur user like me. It is very simple to use and attach to the camera. I only use it with a 100mm macro lens and when the natural light is poor or I want more direct lighting. I have also experimented with the colour filters which do a good job. When you consider the price of this item with better known names, for the occassional user, this purchase is a no brainer.

Its a very easy and very good lights . the only problem I had is due to the thickness of the ring it self you would have to zoom almost all the way in (on a nikon z6 24-70mm) or you will pick up the circle of ring, and when you have the light or flash on even if its at full zoom it still pick up the diffuser, the only way to fix that is either you don't put a diffuser on at all or cut the inner part of the diffuser which is what I did and it works great otherwise.
