My children love this toy (3 and 4 year old boys and 6 year old boy even had a short play with it too). If you have Thomas fans who have seen the new movie Tale of the Brave chances are they will be very excited by this new set, but even if they hadn't seen the movie it's still a fun addition to your take n play collection, or can stand alone. The set does require some brief assembly but it's really just clicking the bits of track into place. The instructions are clear enough and I put it together within 5 minutes with my kids. The track is a decent size with a longer track on one side of the set and a shorter on the other (which can be fixed on to any of your other Take n Play sets). The main attraction to this set is the dinosaur in the middle of the track, which has sound effects. The sounds are lots of fun for the kids and not too loud to be annoying to parents. I haven't noticed any other Take n Play sets with sound effects so that's something a bit different and unique to this one. It also has a trap door where you can rig some dinosaur bones to fall onto Thomas, and he comes with a small truck to transport them. These three bones also fit into the side of the mountain to complete the dinosaur fossil display which is a better place to keep them while not in use as they stayed fixed quite well there so will be less likely to get lost. This all fits in with the storyline of Tale of the Brave. The set is big enough for two children to play at once, but has only one Thomas engine - no problem if you have your own Take n Play engines already though. If you have wooden engines then note that those don't fit so well on these sets. The slightly smaller (and slightly cheaper so better value if you are collecting a lot!) die cast take n play engines will all fit onto this set fine.My kids love it, and have played with it non stop since we got it. I can see them getting hours & hours of play, as they do with our other take n play sets. It does fold up and is portable, with a carrying handle. There are some smaller sets which are better for travel really but this will fold up well enough if you do want to take it away.

When my four year old first played with this I wondered if there was enough to hold his interest. There is a platform that can be raised for Thomas to run down, a dinosaur skeleton that rears up when the platform is lifted, a trapdoor which opens when Thomas drives past and trips a release mechanism, and bones that can be inserted into the side of a wall to complete the skeleton or carried in the carriage pulled by Thomas. Added to this are some sound effects, and the ability to fold the toy for carrying and storage. My fears that this might amount to a toy with limited attraction have been happily proven wrong. My son absolutely loves playing with this toy,and even after a couple of weeks his enthusiasm hasn't waned. This is also a toy that I appreciate, here's why...☆ The toy was very easy to assemble, and (hurray Fisher Price!) it was a joy to have a toy that was secured well in its box yet was very easy to unpack.☆ Batteries are provided and pre installed.☆ The toy feels tough - its made of plastic that feels like it will take the knocks and drops without cracking.☆ The sounds (which you can turn off) are neither overbearing nor irritating, as they are on some toys.☆ The ability to fold they toy is very useful. It means it can easily be stored, behind a settee for example. When folded, the toy also securely stores Thomas and the carriage. Yes parents, no need to spend your days searching for lost toys!☆ As a bonus, folding and storing this toy is something our son loves doing before he goes to bed. Wow, a toy that encourages children to tidy up - how cool is that!

I have quite a collection of Take Along Thomas and Take-n-Play Thomas sets (Take Along became Take-n-Play at some point, with the focus now on foldable sets) and at first I though this looked a little boring compared to some of the others and apart from the dinosaur it looked like a fairly basic track, but I was wrong! This is easily constructed and the barriers along the grey section of the track are needed to keep Thomas from derailing because he zooms down the mountain at speed! Place Thomas on the brown lever and lift it, as you lift it the Dinosaur raises it's head and roars while Thomas whizzes down the slope and does an almost complete lap of the track.Play value is slightly limited because there isn't much track, but it is perfect to take along with you when visiting the house of a boring relative. When combined with other Take Along/Take-n-Play track however, this is an impressive focal point. This comes with a Die-Cast metal Thomas and cargo-carriage, most of the range comes with a Thomas so you may find this is one of many Thomas trains in your collection!!!In a nutshell: Four stars from me as this is quite expensive for a toy which on its own is quite limited in terms of playability, but when played with as part of a collection the possibilities are endless - children who love trains and dinosaurs will love this!

I've always been a Thomas the Tank Engine fan and it delights me that he still seems to be as popular now as he was in my own youth. This is a great little toy that will appeal to the Thomas and dinosaur fan - categories which will surely cover many, many children out there. The Take-n-Play design allows for a portable, compact yet expandable system which is easy to transport so your child can take their favourite toy everywhere (whether you like it or not lol). This one has some nice surprises thrown in and they should continue to keep your child engaged e.g. the trap door with falling dinosaur bones sometimes doesn't drop them so there is an element of 'will they, won't they' every time they play. There are sound effects which the kids will love and the good news is they aren't noisy enough to grate on the grownups nerves. The track is large enough for two children to share and play together - just make sure you have extra engines available! You can also link this to any other Take-n-Play sets to expand play. All in all this is great fun and the flexibility of being able to transport it easily and add to it using existing Take-n-Play sets adds to its attractiveness. If you have a little Thomas or dinosaur fan in your life, they will love this.

This was purchased for my son as an addition to his Take n Play collection. We love the Take n Play range as they are well built and sturdy yet light enough to take with you and easy for children to put together themselves. This set combines two of my son's favourite things - trains and dinosaurs so I was confident it would be a hit.The set was easy to construct from the box and comes complete with a battery to make the dinosaur sounds (he roars as Thomas rides up the hill). The dinosaur rears his head and roars when the platform lifts and there are other features like a trapdoor which opens to release some dinosaur bones. There is only a limited amount of track with this set but it can be combined with other sets to make a larger play area.To take and play you simply fold up the two sides of the set and clip them in to place and use the red handle to carry it with you.My son loves this set, it's become an essential part of his take n play collection and we've since bought it again for my nephews to enjoy. Great fun and high quality as usual from Fisher Price.

I really like this. I have always been a Thomas the Tank Engine fan and when I saw this I had to get it for the boys. S loves it. Fisher Price toys tend to be pretty robust and well thought out and this certainly is. I put it together in a few minutes and no tools are needed and the battery is already installed for the sound effects of rumbling, heavy dinosaur footfalls and roaring etc.Thomas is made of diecast metal and links to his wagon magnetically. You place him on the top run which you elevate and he races down the track through the dino jaws. As you get to the place where the bones are dispatched you load one of the three bones on the wagon and it is then placed in its rightful placewith the rest of the dinosaur skeleton and you carry on until you complete it.The sound effects are very good and S loves love racing Thomas around the track and listening to the dinosaur sounds. Well made.

My toddler loves anything ramp related at the moment and is just starting to really enjoy Thomas the Tank Engine too especially with their updated theme song. This set is really easy to put together as it is a simple click construction so no tools required and the instructions although limited are reasonably easy to follow. I think this set may have to be stored away for another few months as the dinosaur bones are a little fiddly for my son at the moment and I can see them getting lost although he does enjoy the ramp and absolutely adores the dinosaur roar! The theory is that it can be folded up and taken with your child but even folded it's a little bit awkward and again this is just tempting fate for the dinosaur bones to be lost.Thomas does go at some speed down the ramp and sometimes de-rails as an effect of this but it's a really nice toy and perfect for Thomas the Tank fans.

Some negatives with this. The main problem is that the train derails 9 times out of 10 before it hits the trigger releasing the bones. It's also a bit bendy so the track doesn't quite sit flat.On the positive side: not hard to assemble, batteries supplied and makes music / landslide and roaring sounds when the train goes round. The track also folds up to make this set easy to store / carry. The train and carriage supplied are good quality with strong magnets connecting them.Initial response from godson (aged 5) is very positive... Lots of excitement... But will be interesting to see how long his interest lasts... I suspect it will be a bit of a fad unless the fascination with loading the bones in the hill ready for the landslide stays! All up,I am quite impressed with the quality but for me the derailing problem is super frustrating!

This Take and Play set is based on a scene from film Tale of the Brave, and features a track with a manual lift, complete with a dinosaur in the middle. Thomas needs to travel round, collecting the missing dinosaur bones. The track is quite easy to assemble (it took about five minutes to clip together), but does seem a bit flimsy. The Thomas toy itself is made of metal, and also seems quite light and flimsy - certainly not as solid as the wooden models that I remember! It's quite noisy (the dinosaur roars loudly, and Thomas roars around the track), but my three year-old nephew loved it, and had to be talked out if taking it home, rather than being left here for next time he visits. So it was a hit with the children, but I've knocked a star off due to my doubts over the quality of the set's build. A good toy for Thomas fans.

My grandson has just been to see Thomas at the cinema so this toy came just in time for him to associate the two together. He is three years old and already has a few of these take and play sets and as all the sets fit together this is perfect. It has a roaring dinasaur, dinasaur bones which can be set to fall on Thomas as he goes round the track or set them to display a dinasaur on the side of the mountain. It has the mountain trail that Thomas whizzes down and a tunnel for him to go through. I love these sets, they all fit together so you can buy them to add on, they have carry handles to make them portable so the kids can take them wherever they go and because they fold up are easy to storeand tidy away.

Lots of excitement surrounded the arrival of this toy. My three year old daughter is into both trains and dinosaurs, so we were onto a winner here. The set is very portable and easy to set up. There is quite a lot of plastic in its construction, although the train isn't plastic. With the noises and the train roaring around the track my daughter was very happily entertained for an hour or so. The only slight issue is that the train keeps on derailing! She didn't seem to mind this and kept putting it back on the track... But I'm certain this isn't supposed to happen!...However, this toy has proved to be highly entertaining for my child and she really likes it.

Got this for my three year old son. It comes with a few bits of track and a dinosaur lift up ramp that makes a roar when the supplied Thomas engine and magnetically attachable cart go down the hill through it's mouth. When the train goes down the hill out of the mouth it does so at some speed and when rounding the track on to the bit without the 'barrier', the train falls off. There's a wee tunnel that the train goes through which also activates a noise from the track. My son loved it though and it folds up (to an extent) to make it portable, facilitated by the carry handle on the top. It's a nice travel toy but a wee bit expensive.

Whilst most children (and adults) love Thomas the Tank engine, the toy seems suited to 3 to 5 year olds. It does have some limitations like the limited amount of track and only one locomotive, but these can be added too. We felt that a bit more thought could have been made with the track layout design (it screems for a few peices more), but perhaps that to encourage purchasing more? The real benefit for this was it is easy to pack up and transport when we visit friends. The toy was simple for me to put together and came with the batteries! A nice toy, with one or two limitations (like thet rack size) that can be overcome.

We have we have 7 Take n Play sets at home and another 3 more (including this one) for Christmas. What can I say we love these sets in our house. The sets pair together with additional track so you can literally have the whole of Sodor in your living room! For Me with twins this is ideal as they can join In play together but play separately. The way the bones drop is a great little addition. It would be nice to see a set come with a different engine as you do end up acquiring a lot of Thomas's. I also love how these sets pack up a bit more compactly to tidy away.

A tie in with the current TTTE movie, this is quite a cool toy. Within a footprint of about 60cm x 30cm, it manages to fit in quite a few boyish preoccupations - It's a (small) train set wherein Thomas can transport bones from a quarry, dinosaurs, electronic interactivity, and some top hand-eye coordination action where one fits the dinosaurs bones into the spaces in the quarry wall. It folds up into a flat carry case and is quickly reassembled, and I believe you can connect it to other sets in the range to make a more respectably sized layout. Pretty good.
