For those who have followed the fate of Vana'Diels inhabitants these last 7 or 8 years this is the last major expansion pack to be added to further enhance the longevity of Square Enix's Final Fantasy XI, which to be fair shows no signs of slowing down. This expansion pack takes the intrepid adventurer (ie YOU!) back into the time of the great Crystal War which threatened to tear Vanadiel apart as seen in the original games opening scenes, and is set twenty years previous to the main story line and the stories that make up Rise of the Zilart,Chains of Promathia, and Treasures of Aht Urghan. So what does this expansion pack offer us? Well for a start the jobs of Dancer, and Scholar have been introduced.Scholars are like a hybrid of all the 3 major mage classes and are able to switch between black and white magic at will...Ability to change the weather is also one of the draws to the scholar job as you can expose a monster to a weather condition it is elementally weak to, allowing you and your friends to take it down easier. Dancer was introduced as a support job, much like Bard but is by far and away one of the easiest classes to solo with if you so wish...SE introduced the Campaign battles, set in the past, with remodelled zones showing Vanadiel as once was...the battles take place at outposts and its upto you to defend the outposts from attacks from Quadavs,Orcs and Yagudo hordes. These are proving popular as a way to supplement your exp income, and make a refreshing change from the endless exp grind...Another major introduction is the level sync facility which allows members of different levels to party and sets the limit at the lowest party member so you can all band together without the need to find people within three levels of each other.Gone too is the need to bring lower level gear if say for example you are a level 75 White mage and wish to level sync with some friends who are all level 50 then simply turn up to the party, press level sync and youll automatically be capped at level 50 and any high level equipment your wearing will be scaled down and its stats adjusted accordingly...One downside to this is that if your levelling a new job or subjob then low level armour is rare on the Auction house. The storyline as usual for a Final Fantasy game is very strong and full of emotional moments, rarely found in a mmorpg and is a credit to SE.In recent months SE have firther raised the level cap of FFXI from 75 to 80 and is continuing to do so till level 99, and along side are more addon packs which are download only rather than fully fledged expansion packs...proving theres still a long life for FFXI yet...Recommended for people who are already playing FFXI but if your new to SE's online odyssey id perhaps wait for the upcoming FFXIV..

After a year Wait the 4th Expansion of the fantastic Final Fantasy XI finally hits the UK, after reading review after review and the countless teaser Videos released by Square-Enix over the passed few months i couldn't wait for this to hit the stores.Even more gameplay, over 30 new zones, 2 new fantastic jobs, a world wide war between the 3 home nations and the beastmen. (ToAU players think of a much larger scale of Beseiged but more random.) Tons of new quests, 2 new Gobbiebag quests and the famous return of 2 Past Final Fantasy Characters Atomos and Cait Sith.A must buy for any Final Fantasy XI player.

We've all been waiting for the long awaited explanation on the crystal war, which happened 20 years ago in vanadiel, well now... here it is. It's like repetition of the crystal war only not based in the town you can see from the meadows. Anyways it's an ok expansion but SE are still failing. lolsch... wth is with SCH no one likes SCH ffs -.-; and DNC.... please spare us the embarassment SE.
