The first thing to know about this machine is that it doesn't come with any laminating pouches, so you need to order some with the product or visit a stationery supplies store. When buying pouches, be sure to choose those with a total thickness not exceeding 160 microns, because that is one of this personal use machine's limitations. Fellowes pouches are labelled with the thickness of one side of the pouch, meaning that the 80 micron pouches I bought are the maximum the Lunar A3 can cope with. Some other brands seem to be labelled with the total thickness of the pouch, which is confusing, so I stuck to Fellowes and actually they were no more expensive. It would be fair to say the machine is easy to use.Switch on and wait for it to warm up, a bit over 5 minutes, and you're ready to rock. There's a wee green indicator LED to tell you operating temperature has been reached, and then you feed a pouch into it, obviously with the sheet you wish to protect inside the pouch. Offering the pouch up perfectly square to the machine is nigh-on impossible, but I've encountered no problems from pouches going through slightly skewed.Apart from the pouch thickness limitation there is another reason the machine is sold for "personal use" - it's slow. An A4 pouch, I haven't tried any A3 pouches, takes over a minute to seal. Not a problem for me, but in an office environment with perhaps a lot of material to laminate a faster (more expensive!) model would be essential. Results are quite excellent, and I have not experienced jamming at all. There is a release trigger, a button at top left of the machine, that separates the rollers so jams can be easily cleared, but I've not needed it. One problem I was expecting was with ink jet printed photos, because I have read that some inks will melt in a laminator. Thankfully, everything I have tried has emerged from the Lunar A3 in top condition and protected in a wipe-clean pouch, but be aware the issue can arise. UPDATE: I've now laminated a couple of ink jet photos that did not produce happy results. So if preserving photos is your main use for a laminator, you really need one of the cold types.Sealed pouches can be trimmed with a suitable guillotine, I have tried that, and there is no question of the contents spilling out because the paper is resin-bonded to the pouch. This means that at a pinch it's easy to produce laminates smaller than your pouch size.Laminating is a weirdly satisfying thing to do, at least in the early new toy syndrome stages. If you've any paper somethings you'd like to protect, be they big A3 or tiny A6, you're likely to find the Lunar A3 an excellent purchase.

I already have a Fellowes A4 laminator and that is brilliant but this being the A3 size, would it be on a par with it's smaller brother?. Well in a word, yes. The instructions, basic as they are but neat, precise and understandable with decent diagrams to also help and the reason I mention this is because as well as using up a few more words(!) in this essay of sorts, a friend of mine brought a different breed of A3 laminating machine a few months ago for use in the social club where he serves on the committee and he rung me to ask about certain terms as it was written in a silly pigeon English and as he read it over the phone, I could see/hear his concerns and this was from a perceived well known 'household brand name'as well.Back to the plot then: The actual laminating side of things is great and the 'warm up' time is not that bad considering the size of the machine and the size it does. Once the warm up phase has gone through, I usually wait a few minutes before sending anything through 'just in case' because I have seen the effects of a none too warm machine before in days gone by where people have tried to rush things. I put a A3 poster through for a coming local event and am happy, nay glad to say it worked okay, no probs. All in all I laminated just over 18 items on the initial 'first out the box' session and while time was not a factor, they were done in what I would say was a reasonable time scale. All in all, it looks and importantly feels robust and I think it should perform as good as it's younger brother that I have already put through it's paces so it could be said it was a case of 'Fellowes the leader' in a sense!. 10/10

I laminate absolutely shed loads of stuff, and this laminator has endured a lot in its short life. A4 and A3 it deals with and the speed is pretty good for a lower-level model. Very lightweight and easy to transport, it's ideal for home use. This model got dropped on the wooden floor from table height early on which I thought meant it was game over, however even though I can hear a loose piece rattling inside, it still works just as well as before. So it is quite a tough, robust little model. Got a couple of sheets jammed - my own fault for now clearing out the last sheets - I was able to reverse and pull out without any lasting damage. I've had laminators I've had to pull apart completely to clear a jam,but not this one.

What can you say about a laminator? Well ... let's see. I already have experience of Fellowes products and have found that, on the majority of occasions they are reliable and well built. This laminator did not disappoint in the build stakes and whilst it is solidly built it is not too heavy or bulky. Taking sheets up to A3 size, it is flexible and should be perfect for the home or small office user who generally isn't laminating anything bigger than that. All in all, I would recommend. It runs smoothly and I haven't experienced a wrinkle yet. Recommended for the home/small office user who doesn't need to laminate any bigger than A3.

This laminator is perfect for home use or the small office. The laminator is compact in size, doesn't take up too much desk space and it heats up quite quickly. It is also very quiet when running. It laminates A4 and A4 documents (or smaller) with ease and is extremely simple to operate. The one big advantage it has over its rivals is that it doesn't need card carriers for the laminating pouch when running a document through. This means that it is more economical to use.It is highly recommended for anyone wanting an easy to use, efficient laminator that will cope with small volumes of laminating.

I have used a Fellowes A4 laminator for years, that continues to prove reliable, so I purposely purchased an A3 model by the same manufacturer. Contrary to some other reviews, I find this machine entirely satisfactory. It is especially helpful not to have to preload each pouched sheet into a card carrier. The heat and pressure appears to be applied evenly and the end result is perfect. The only limitation is that you can only use the thinnest pouches, which are not recommended for exterior or heavy use.

I had an earlier version which lasted 10 years. This one is a bit more sophisticated and so long as the heating element keeps going it should last as long. This one heats up quicker and seems to deal with various thicknesses of pouch. Only thing id remember that personal use means now and again rather than on all day every day!!!!Johnny K

Having never had a Laminator before, and never used one before, I really wasn't sure what to expect. However, it is so easy to use and the instructions with it couldn't have been simpler. I am so pleased with the product and the price was very good as well. All round I am very impressed with it and would definitely recommend it.

Bought item on the basis of other reviews and was not disappointed. Compact machine but big enough for home use and performs well if the limitations are respected ie. pouch thickness, speed of feed etc.. Certainly value for money.

Bought this as a replacement for a faulty Texet model. Used several times and does the job without fuss. Heats up fairly quick and is quiet. Only minor issue is feed speed is a little slow.

Did exactly as stated when bought, performed well, only one spoiled out of 70 sheets. Does take rather a time to warm up, hence only 4 stars
