Mostly I have tended to use the rolling wheel type of paper cutters. These are very good but tend to be limited to 3 sheets maximum for a clean, smooth edged cut. However on occasions I've had situations where it would have been nice to cut up to 15 sheets of A4 down to A5 at once and this is where the Fellowes Plasma A3 comes into its own. This beast, it is claimed will guillotine through up to 40 sheets of 80gsm paper at a slice. So far I haven't put that to the test but I can assure you that is sailed quite happily through 25 sheets as easily as 1.The design is whilst fairly standard is very well thought out. The transparent cutter guard folds flat for transport and storage and,in that position locks the cutter handle in place to help minimise possible injuries when the guillotine is being carried or maneuvered. It is quite heavy and solidly built, sitting firmly on your work surface. Possibly my only niggle would be with the adjustable back stop. (This only comes with the Plasma models.) I found that it was quite easy to lock it in to place while still being slightly out of true which would lead to a non-rightangled cut so I'd advise double checking the position before you start cutting. One very nice feature is the paper clamping mechanism incorporated into the cutting blade action. You simply align your paper beneath the clamp bar and then, as you bring the blade down, the bar presses the paper firmly against the base ensuring a smooth cut from the blade. You then have to return the blade to it's highest position again to free the paper on the cutting table for removal.I suppose it's quite hard to rave about something as mundane as a guillotine but the Fellowes Plasma A3 is certainly one I'd recommend if your need is for a large bed cutting system.Within an hour of arrival it found a permanent place on the workshop drawing table and I suspect that my 3 old roller cutters will shortly being pensioned off.Yes it's expensive but worth it.

I have needed a guillotine for awhile now to cut to size various documents I place together. When this arrived I soon realised it was more than up to the task.Made of a mix of metals and high sturdy plastics this device looks like it will be able last many years, even decades and continue to do the job.It uses a lever style blade which is easy to pull up and down. It has a high guard system that folds up and down. This stops the guillotine from being used when down, and when up restricts the height the blade can be pulled up. There is also a slideable attachment that can go up and down the base. This is magnetised and can be locks to stop it moving and is useful for holding paper in place tokeep a clean cut.The base also has numerous measurements marked out with all the standard sizes such as A4 as well as ruler markings so you can make sure you cut to the right size. The blade itself is very sharp. It cuts through the paper, card and even laminated card with ease. I have tested up to 20 sheets of paper and it had no problems with this. The device is made to handle to up to A3 size paper so it is no small device. Mainly intended for an office it will take up a bit of space in the home but will be idea for those who work from home and require a lot of paper and card cutting.Overall I am very satisfied with this guillotine and expect I shall use it for many years to come.5 stars.

It's tricky to get too enthused about a paper cutter, i'll try my best! The guillotine is definitely well constructed, with a very solid feel, it's a beast in this respect, it's got a couple of nifty design features too, something I haven't seen on our previous office cutter, namely:A smart clamping system that when you lift the blade to the top, it raises a clamp bar so you can insert paper, as you lower the guillotine the paper is clamped in place during cutting. To remove it you have to lift the guillotine again. This works really well in practise, eliminating the moving paper problem of other guillotine.A safety system where the perspex guide flaps down (for storage)and prevents the guillotine blade lifting. The only other thing worth mentioning, is that there are ample markings on the base for cutting sizes (Metric and Imperial) and rotations, the measurements are clearly marked, and there is a magnetic back-stop, but I felt this could have really done with stronger magnets and a better locking mechanism personally, as it's a bit "naff".It claims to be able to handle 40 sheets of 80gsm at a time, and whilst I have yet to try this, I pretty confident it will handle that just fine based on my experiences so far.Overall, and excellent choice for a A3 paper guillotine.

Initially it was not giving a clean cut and not always a complete cut ! Upon looking at it, I noticed that the blade wasn't meeting the bottom plate all along the blade (e.g there was a gap), this allowed the paper to fold up and not cut. There is no adjustment or movment of the blade to make it closer to the bed ? Therefore had to use some gentle persussion and push the blade arm over until a "better fit" was achieved. Once this was done it works very successfully.

The first guillotine had to be returned and replaced (excellent service by Amazon) because the blade was not adjusted correctly and tore even printing paper, let alone card, rather than cutting it. There is no blade adjustment facility, as confirmed by Fellowes customer service. Fortunately the replacement works fine and does a good job. As, indeed, it should do for the price!

I had product catalogues to trim, the rotary trimmer I paid a lot of money for was rubbish finishing neatly, or straight. This cutter is excellent and I think it should pay for itself down the years.A good investment for anyone looking for a professional finish.

Used this to cut through 350gsm cotton paper. Worked perfectly! Very good product, highly re comment it for home crafts & projects where quality is needed.

It is big, fairly heavy and it works well. The only weakness is the adjustable slide which seems a bit flimsy.Would I buy it again? Yes I would.

Cant work without it. Strong and robust albeit not very accurate but you learn to work around these little things.
