Alright, before we start, just let me say this about FarCry 5; it was a brilliant game - for me anyway. The thought that went into it was clever, but the negative that stuck in my mind was; howcome the American army or police didn’t just shut it down? Think Waco. Since Hope County (in North America) wasn’t in a state of emergency, why wasn’t Trump down there building walls and getting everyone riled up? Anyway, onto New Dawn.I got this game 48 hours early for some reason, but I took full advantage but I’ll try not to give too many spoilers away. The post apocalyptic world is a PERFECT setting for Hope County. A state of lawlessness where money is no longer of value,so the main method of income is ethanol. The bad guys are the Highwaymen. Spearheaded by two absolute psychotic female twins. You’re introduced to them fairly early on in the game. There’s still most parts of Hope County that’s accessible that was present in FC5. This brings about nostalgia for those of us that fondly remember FC5 from last year. Of course this is set 17 years after FC5, but there’s still plenty of memorable folks from the previous installment, which also includes Jospeh Seed (the Father) some of your old “guns for hire” and the daughter of Nick Rye (can’t remember his wife’s name) whom is one of the main protagonist in New Dawn. The post apocalyptic setting adds more realism to what’s going on around you, given that in the event of a real nuclear war, there wouldn’t be any central government to keep order. You’ll find this out as you progress and see the different factions and what they’re after. The setting 17 years post nuclear bomb exploding are much prettier than you’d expect. I played this on my PS4 Pro and I’m honestly blown away by the graphics. It’s visually more pleasing than any other FC i’ve played, apart from Blood Dragon. Nothing beats 80’s themes!Something I’ve seen people complain about is the levelling up system and health bars. Some saying it’s too “RPG” like or too “Fallout” like. Well you can switch the health bars off, however they come in useful for the heavy gunner type enemies. They feel weird, but actually end up being quite useful - especially if you’re picking them off from a distance.Your main base is called “Prosperity” and you level prospect up in a similar way to now you levelled up your home and Yeti outpost on FC4 and how you upgraded your huts on F.C Primal. This enables you to have a better garden for herbs or upgrade work bench and explosives crafting capabilities, etc.Outposts* I’ve found myself running in more Gung Ho when it comes to outposts. In previous games I liked to creep around stealth killing, or pick off from a distance after disabling alarm. However on New Dawn there’s an increased sense of satisfaction from rushing in with your saw launcher! One thing to note with the outposts on New Dawn, you can choose to “scavenge” the outposts of all ethanol and this abandons the outposts back into enemy hands with increased difficulty. This allows for the harder outpost to be taken again for greater reward. One thing that does bother me is the with the introduction of the health bars I found that clean head shots weren’t killing the enemy. This bothers me. A head shot is a head shot, and if you’re not wearing head gear then a headshot should override your body armour. Finally I’ll add we have new animal companions in New Dawn. First being Timber, a husky you rescue that was destined for death due to killing 3 highwaymen. He’s much like boomer and, of course, a very good boy, since he can sniff out enemies/tag them and bring you weapons. He’ll also attack enemies and wildlife that attack you. Then we have Horatio - A WILD BOAR!! Or is he a hog? A WILD HOG!! either way, he’s brutal and fun to watch in action. I actually found him quite overpowered considering how fast and powerful he is, but regardless, he’s still fun to watch in action! There’s still so much more I can add but it’s all I can think off of the top of my head and I’m still currently playing it myself. Overall I already like it more than FC5. The post nuke world makes a world of difference to Hope County and if you’re reading this then I assume you either have or or thinking of buying New Dawn, which I can 100% recommend you do. EDIT; expeditions actually take you off of the map as we know it for specialist missions, however I’ve only done one of these, so don’t think I could elaborate too much on it.P.S TAKEDOWNS ARE BACK! *rolls around hysterically on the floor like maniac*P.P.S RADIOACTIVE BISON. Bruh.

New dawn might be one game asking for permissive effecting, scouting, further reaching, push to complete and leant on pressured pad presentations. With procreation of followings and a couplette leading. Raging lackies givig profferability of a climactic measure and length, leading right via every means it seems - you must take take take all you can and reach far far away a whizzing around trying to encircle the ravageurs gives dorothy a while away from home and conversation commiting to a tiny contingent and push to in what I see is FCry 5's assembly and prorata. The game has its beauty and 'I Swear' character and demands some pressings into the depth and prevalation to get the run of a melle of very enough captains of their region, decapitulating further in. A metriculising persuance as you go all out to procure what is hard to adventuring a case in hand - an adept encounter pushing you to adhere to each mission with hope and motivation; as you would call the working out of this game. The resources are little the missions fairing largely, with hard to condition enemies as they persue you to gain ground with technology, with tenacity to gain; the ending more than enough from your development in ability and ignorance of pressings in ventures. The interest is held much to a manipulatory gaining of personability but greeting the gamer in storyline to a medley of more than in preaching as you alight the missions with much chance of procuring the tools for a hard case to contain. Along with every saintly character and your endowing preservability by risk and lending to numerous plaintiffs admiring where you have recce'd and recovered from close calls and provision to make different the ending of all your R&D believe you have truely been accompagned. Reaching prize and curtailing countability as scores reach higher the welcome at the end it makes you feel the better if shortened to other lengthy books and complicated admissions, the production gives a voice to your action and circumspection, seeing the rather low depreciation of enemies to missions countless, a rather regarded end and adventuring not easy to fair on the committee to assemble a bigger story...believed in the fordability the means of many in playing compassionately; outweighing the class of mightier actes. You can play with this adventure leading in to a hell of a production; the ideal of procreation getting a ways rewarding. In contemplatery revision, a class welcoming the nonplussed, inrising you get the dawning of your ideals testing...

I really enjoyed Farcry 5 and all the previous Farcry games on the next and previous gen consoles from Farcry 3 to 5 was amazing, New Dawn I enjoyed quite a bit but there are some things that I wasn't to keen on and I am hoping they get removed in the next games. I didn't like the fact that weapons and enemies were leveled it made gameplay considerably frustrating at times especially when an enforcer is equipped with a rpg and blasts me at point blank range right close to me but at times it got especially annoying if I lost all my weapons like one of the missions in the game I won't mention to much because I don't want to ruin it, but basically your in a prison with no guns. But other then the levelling system the setting was great and the game looks really nice graphically, weapons are awesome and characters are so cool. I also enjoyed the fact that certain abilities were improved like having a knife when taking an enemy down but I could still use punches and baseball bat simaltaniously for attacks also which was cool as.. Vehicles were awesome and I really liked the unicorn bike it sounds so awesome when you drive it...... But I think the leveling system on enemies kind of ruined the game for me quite a bit and the shortness of the story which took 8hrs to complete unless your collecting all the items and stuff which extends it abit. The twins are awesome bad guys though and I was happy to see a few characters return from 5. But so far the best 3 farcry games have been 3,4 and 5 in my opinion and I'm hoping they go back to the non levelling system I also miss the main protagonist being voiced like 3 and 4 but these are minor things in comparison to the levelling problem which was my major gripe with this game. I'm hoping they ditch the leveling system for the next game and go back to the way it was before with no levelling up system or anything though I do like the perks and hope they keep that side of things which would be ok. That is why I have rated this 4 stars and would of given 5 if it was longer and levelling system on enemies was removed then it would of been an amazing game but if your a Farcry fan who wants to play more and haven't played this then I would recommend it because it's good even though frustrating at times..

Far Cry 5...part 2 (technically)set 17 years after the explosive finish to Far Cry 5 (the canon ending being the one where you choose to fight Joseph), you and a crew of people are heading to Hope County to help them rebuild at the request of Carmina Rye (yes, that Rye family). On arrival, everything goes a little sideways and "The Highwaymen" are involved. A gang of motocross gear wearing, neon painted, hooligans and miscreants.Cue the traditional Far Cry experience of killing almost everything that moves while unfogging the map, taking over outposts and unlocking new weapons. As this is a "half" release (a la blood dragon and primal)it's Ubisoft testing new waters and ideas before implementing them into future games (think the animal taming in primal being brought into 5 as an example). Some of these are interesting and I genuinely hope to see them make it to a full release in Far Cry 6.Outposts have "levels" now. When you complete an outpost, it becomes a fast travel point. However, you can, at any point, scavenge it from the map to receive some more resources. This puts it up a level and it's reclaimed by the Highwaymen. The patrols are changed, there are more enemies and alarms and tougher enemies too. If you complete it again, you'll get more rewards and you can continue to scavenge it to increase the difficulty. Then there are the Expeditions.Expeditions are missions to obtain supplies from Highwaymen bases all over the US.These take place on unique maps, (which can again be reattempted on harder difficulties once complete) like a Theme Park in Florida, Alcatraz or even a downed military aircraft (which may well have been used by a certain super spy). The potential for the expeditions in a full release is great, if you consider the map editor, it's the next step from that. Fully formed mini adventures which could be added post release as DLC or free updates to maintain the "Games as a Service" process that Ubisoft follow now.All in if you enjoy Far Cry, you'll feel right at home. They've ramped the humour up to the Nth degree (you can dress your character up like something from planet of the apes if you wish) but everything about it is just plain fun.

Just finished Far Cry New Dawn. I thoughtsI didn’t mind the micro transactions. As you could grind for weapons it made paying optional and helpful for not so good players, or those lacking time. I grinded and found the weapons needed.I didn’t like the main villains. Compared to others they were very annoying whilst even with Joseph Seed from 5, there was a weird charisma to him. But the twins whilst not flat characters were highly annoying.A few levels are very hard. Noticeably ‘Adventures in babysitting’ and the final showdown with the twins. I’d read complaints in reviews about how tough the twins are,but if you use wrath ability and hit them with weapons they are quite easy. The same for the final final boss which I won’t spoil (just use wrath and melee-weapons).I didn’t think the game ran as smooth as 5. Maybe this was due to the neon pink colours of Hope County causing eye ache but I’m not sure.I hated how anxiety inducing the Expedition missions were. Finally cars don’t handle great especially in the drag race. So set to auto driving. What I did like.I loved it give a finale for part 5. It ends the story.I loved the concept of Hope County from 5, after the apocalypse. Exploring places I’d visited in 5 and seeing how much they’d changed was awesome. I spent a whole just gazing at landmarks that played a role in 5.I loved seeing returning villain Joseph Seed (not a spoiler ad he’s on the box art.) A great character that perhaps wasn’t wrong but went about things the wrong way.The hidden treasure missions and puzzles were awesome. A few reminded me of Riddle puzzles. The weapons are great. Buzz saw thrower to the blood dragon sets you can unlock, I enjoyed this a lot.I liked the outposts. Always a pure joy in Far Cry games. Finally I liked the length. It took me a good 15 hours with plenty to do. I got my money’s worth.Overall, a wonderful game with some tough areas that take thought rather than guns blazing. Highly recommend.I think as the series grows this game like ‘Blood Dragon’ and ‘Primal’ will become another hidden gem in a series filled with classics.

Quick first impressions: It’s Far Cry 5 so if you liked that you’ll like this. Although it’s the same map it all looks very different so in that sense it’s a whole new game, but all the familiar elements are there. You fight to keep alive, you fight to capture outposts and there are treasures to hunt for. As usual, you need to acquire to build resources and better weapons to progress in the game but there’s no hurry so you can play at your own pace in an open world environment. So far I see an excellent game, a must for Far Cry devotees which clearly this game is directed at, it being a follow-on from the original. If you haven’t played the main Far Cry 5 you should play it before this one,but it is acceptable as a stand alone game anyway.Edit: Nearly finished the game, really enjoyed it. If you liked Far Cry 5 you should certainly like this. It's much more than a DLC, although perhaps a little lacking as a full game. But if you can get over it not being the greatest value for money you will get into this and enjoy it.Further edit: Now, later, I’ve just played it right through for the second time and have really enjoyed it. That’s got to be the mark of a good game! Although the game is a little short, it is significantly expanded by allowing you to take the outposts again and through this you can substantially improve the quality of your weapons to the point where you don’t bother to cut off the outpost alarms but have fun just charging in and blasting everyone in sight! So the game can move through stages which substantially expands the experience. Also the expeditions (vignettes which take place outside the normal playing ground of Hope County) add a very real expansion to the game and like outposts you can go back again and again. So I’ve now played it twice and can certainly recommend this game.

Seventeen years has past, The Father is missing and the fallout has caused even more chaos and disorder, and once again you are the people's saviour and hope to bring back peace to their beloved homeland.Far Cry New Dawn, set in a post-apocalyptic landscape is the playground for this sequel to Far Cry 5. It has the same sort of gameplay fans know and love, but there are lots of differences, including a different take on outposts; when you've taken an outpost you have the option to liberate it or scavenge it and let 'The Highway Men' take it back, but the more you take an outpost and choose to scavenge the harder that outpost becomes to liberate again. It also has 'expeditions'which take you to locations outside of Hope County, like 'Alcatraz', where you have to stealthily steal a resource-package, but shortly after you've grabbed the package a GPS tracker is activated, so while you flee to your extraction point you are pursued all the way until your helicopter arrives. There's also new guns-for-hire including Horatio the wild boar, Timber the dog, Nana and Gina, and there's some old familiar faces.Overall I'm loving Far Cry New Dawn, it has great story missions with I think the correct ending to Far Cry 5; I particularly like the expeditions and the option to retake outposts, plus there's some cool new perks that you pick up later in the game. I've been playing New Dawn nearly all weekend and I've enjoyed every minute of it, for me it's just pure Far Cry magic and mayhem, what's not to like...

This is the first Far Cry game I've ever played, so the storyline is a bit lost on me tbh.But I really like this game, despite the map being pretty small in comparison to other games. Even God of War had a seemingly bigger map than Hope County.Oddly, life is thriving just 15 years after a nuke "laid waste" to the country, except it didn't, because there are trees which obviously survived, and motorbikes, and weapons, and animals, fish, highway men (and of course women of colour) and a myriad of weapons to kill the above with. What I found was that after I did about 7 camp raids in a row, I could upgrade my weapons station to max, which is what I did, then after that, everything seems a little too easy. When you've got a blunderbuss, an SA80 sniper rifle with blue tarpaulin as a suppressor, you know you're in business.I've got the sick little sub machine gun that fires armour piercing rounds. And I've got the Boar Killer shotgun as a side arm.(Extra weapon spots in skills tree)So although ice only played for about 30 hours, there is still some things to do.My base is fully upgraded. My weapons are savage Elite weapons.I've unlocked all buddies. What I really really love about this game are the expeditions. There's nothing quite like working your way through Alcatraz looking for a backpack with your trusty HOG!Good game, and bow I've played it, I guess I'm going to find myself going in reverse, so Far Cry V is next up.

Continuing on from farcry 5, we have the highwaymen taking over as the tyrannical people, all on the same free to roam Hope county map, but with differences that reflect the events of FC5. The map is a bit smaller, with Jacobs northern territory not really holding much at all. If you stay strictly on the main missions then this game can be completed fairly swiftly, I recommend high difficulty so it becomes a necessity to complete challenges and explore to earn resources and perk points. There are side missions but nowhere near as numerous as FC5. 7 expeditions take you to new one off maps for grab and swipe missions (find the bag in randomised location, escape in helicopter from randomised pickup point whilst all enemies converge on the tracker). All the level building is still there, upgrading weapons, upgrading vehicles, using perk pints to give yourself new abilities, getting guns for hire and upgrading them through kills. All in a wonderful first person shooter package.Story not great compared to the cult wonder of FC5, and music was legendary in the previous game compared to the okay music here. Still very much worth playing

I was apprehensive about this game, expecting a sloppy cash in after the success of Far Cry 5. Thankfully, I was quickly proven wrong. Using the same map as FC 5, it takes you to familiar places as you go through the game. (You don't need to have played FC 5 prior to this one,by the way. But it adds an extra dimension to the story.) There are differences between the games...some perks you can add via perk points, others only by upgrading the facilities in Prosperity. (Your home base.) The wild animals come with different difficulty ratings. (Don't try and take on a bear, cougar or wolverine without at least a level 2 shotgun.)Some reviews have complained about short play through time.I've been playing for 15 hours, and still have plenty to do. Wander through the environment and see what you stumble across. Worth the money.

Have played all the Far cry games and really enjoyed playing this. You get as least 20 hrs gameplay liberating bases, Expeditions, Treasure Hunts, Side Missions. The game runs very smoothly and is by far the best looking in the series. Game feels just as big as the other titles but doesn't have as many main missions. The only thing I didn't like about this game where the main missions which were the worst I have ever played in a video game. They were exceeding annoying and pointless. One involved trying to kill two enemies which were hardly scratched by a grenade launcher which being constantly attacked by respawning dogs.If you don't play the main missions you still get at least 20 hrs of great gameplay.

Phenomenal game! The story is short and you don't get the full Far Cry 5 map but the scenery is stunning. Replaying after Far Cry 5, mingling with some of the old characters pre-nuke and the old buildings remodelled is amazing to see. When you immerse yourself in the story of Far Cry 5 you get to continue that here in New Dawn.Would have liked more depth in the twins but maybe this was partly purposeful as the old cult, now New Edeners, are still a big part of the story. You can keep perking up but an option to New Game+ repeatedly like FC5 would have been nice. So many hours of mad fun! Be aware of innocent civilians throwing themselves at you if driving fast though..

1.1.2020

This is exactly the same as far cry 5 but gone have the intrusive cut scenes after building up your notoriety meter and forcing you into a annoying part of the game which would be better left out.Now you get to can take a strong hold and turn it back to the enemy, increasing the hardness of the compound. This has made a great addition to the game allowing additional gameplay and an increasing difficulty throughout the game, far cry 5 was a mess compared to this. This is a great addition the the far cry franchise and if far cry 5 put you off this, reconsider as it is a vast improvement.

10.6.2020

This game for me started off brilliant, great story with lots of characters from Far Cry 5, but it ran out of content really quickly for me. It was a grind doing the outposts not once but three times. It’s a shame the story went so downhill after the first chapter. It’s a good game, just not even close to the story for Far cry 5. I do love the colours in the game too. I wish I had the botheredness to go for all the trophies, but doing all the excursions 3 times each is a pain. I enjoyed the theme park exhibition and also the Alcatraz one too.

28.6.2020

After the underwhelming Farcry 5, this was a return to form for the franchise. The story is simple but compelling, and the gameplay is smooth and improved. There is a simpler skill progression system, and the challenges don't make getting more perk points a chore. The game is slightly shorter than it predecessor, but ties together a number of threads in a satisfying way. This operates as a strong standalone game, although it's largely a reskin of Farcry 5, but it loses nothing for this.
