Definitely one step up for me. I've been writing in dark blue using an FC "broad" nib before so this is quite different ("EF" using black Quink) at the other end of the spectrum. First impressions were that it was scratchy but as you write more, you can tell it's definitely not. It's just putting much less ink on the page. With much less surface area and so less friction on the paper, this pen glides mores easily over the paper meaning more of your hand writing style is expressed (for better or worse). I found that mood and speed degrade readability more than for FC's broad nib. When I slow down and try to establish a rhythm between of the speed of half height components of letters vs the forward speed of my hand (smoothing out curves)

Balance and comfort are everything in a fountain pen so I chose the aluminium finish for a little weight. I am so pleased with this pen. It has excellent comfort. Some pens I’ve tried seem to lure you in to a copperplate style which is quite forced, so to see how close you can write with a fountain pen like you’d write with a biro is a good metric for me: pleased to say with me it ticks that box. Ink flow is excellent and it takes standard international cartridges too.

I was looking forward to receive this Fountain Pen of Faber Castell, the quality is excellent and the colour is so different. The minus one star is for the nib even if it is Fine it is very scratchy nib, which wasn’t the case with my previous Faber Castell Fountain Pens, so I am bit disappointed as I don’t use it as much as I wanted it.

I collect pens. Cap posts well on end of pen and doesn't flop around when writing. Nice smooth flow nib
