Let’s face it Pentel have been around for years and we have probably all at one time or another used one of their pens or other items. These pens are part of their EnerGel line which is supposed to be permanent and water proof as well as fade proof. The ink does dry quickly and doesn’t smudge and with a 0.5mm tip gives a nice, sharp and narrow writing edge.Because the ink dries quickly it is great for those like me who are left handed as it means that we don’t smudge what we have already written, and these have a nice grip making them comfortable and easy to hold, even when you have sweaty hands.Being acid free these are good for different types of paper and as we live in a recyclable world these are apparently made of 54% recyclable material.Although I have got here a pack of twelve blue ink pens it is great to see that these are not disposable and apparently you can get refills for these. I haven’t looked yet to see if these are available on this site, but if not they should be readily available from the manufacturer. With a retractable tip and a good strong pocket clip these are ideal for students, around the home, or the office. Although for most people these are probably ideal I do have a certain grumble. The problem with these for me isn’t the actual pen, the writing ability of the ink or anything like that, but something perhaps that doesn’t bother others – and that is the ink is a bit too light a blue for my liking. I am used to having a darker blue ink when I write and this one is a bit too light for my personal preference.Apart from my personal little grumble for most things these are perfectly okay, but please remember to remove the blob on the end of the tip before you use it, otherwise you will think that they have dried up.

These are pleasingly attractive in appearance, designed to suggest batteries, with the colour, the EnerGel name and the logo design. I liked the fact they are quite heavy - this suits my writing better, a pen with a bit of weight to it. I also like the fine nib, again, suits my writing - though they do come in the more usual 0.7 medium, as wellThe pens all have a little plastic seal on the tips - excellent, as it prevents the ink drying out, so will maintain shelf-life of any unused pens till you pull the little seal off. Retractable is also good, as I forever lose/leave lids off biros or rollers with lids, and then get annoyed because they have dried out.The downside is these are slightly expensive, but, in contrast to what a couple of reviewers have said - they are NOT designed to be thrown away when the ink has run out - perhaps the pricetag is meant to inhibit ditching them. They take refills, as the packet clearly says 'Uses LRP5 refills' And these are available in Black, Blue and Red on this website. As an assessor who needs to hand mark assignments submitted as hard copy, not mark e-submissions online, red pens flow like rivers in this house. Good, clear permanent is is what I need, and this is what they are

This was my first time trying pens from Pentel, but I doubt it will be the last after trying these black retractable rollerballs. They are very comfortable to write with- I used one for many hours of writing yesterday without any problems due to the rubbery grip around the gel pens. I tested whether these pens blotted by holding one of the pens down on paper for a varying number of seconds, and the pen didn't cause blotting once. I found that there was little-to-no smudging from the pens, and after no more than 3 seconds the ink had dried on the paper I was using. Some ink did transfer onto my hand however, but I did find that the ink dried more quickly than with other gel pens. Each retractable pen came with a 'ball' on the tip of the pen to protect it and prevent ink flow- which you remove when you use them. I also tested to see whether the pens were water-resistant and the pens did not smudge or fade unless you 'rubbed' the water over the ink- which I doubt would ever happen under normal circumstances. I have not yet used them long enough to judge whether they are fade-proof as advertised, but my writing from a couple of days ago hasn't yet faded.

The box I was sent are currently marked on the Amazon page as Red/Black. I think this is a mistake as all the pens are Red ink and not a mix.The pens look heavy and expensive, but in reality they feel a little cheap, light and plasticky. The nibs have a small plastic bead protecting the nib which needs to be snapped off (a finger nail will do it). The pen is then ready to use. It is comfortable to hod and the rubberise bottom section helps prevent your fingers slipping down as you write which means you can relax your grip a little. It is well balanced and easy to write with although the nib feels a little on the sharp side when writing. The ink is a bright red colour and dries very quickly on paper. The ink doesn't bleed into the paper so the lines remain clear and defined. One of the surfaces gel pens are not so good on are greetings cards that have the shiny smooth surfaces, they tend to skid and because the card is not absorbent the gel takes longer to dry, but on paper these are just fine. These are easily refillable, which is a good touch considering we are still in the throw-away mentality of the last few decades.

This is a box of 12 black gel pens with push button tops and permanent ink. The ink becomes waterproof once dry so it's archival quality and fade resistant. The pens look quite smart and very classic with their black, gold and silver colourway (although I would admittedly have preferred a more modern black & silver finish, this is a small complaint and doesn't really take anything away from my overall opinion). The pens are comfortable to hold and to write with. The 0.5mm nib writes with the perfect thickness in my opinion and I think it will suit most handwriting, large or small. Ink flow is very good so the pens are excellent for cursive writing and equally good for people who press onlylightly on the paper and those who press down more firmly. The pens are good quality and refillable so I reckon they work out good value for money in the long run, especially with it being permanent ink (which most gel pens are not). A quick search led me to find refills in blue and red, which I think would be quite handy if you want other colours besides black.

Very nice stylish and modern rollerball red gel pen. This pen is a retractable rollerball, with the classic press on, press off, action. The nib is a fine metal nib 0.5mm that gives a really neat fine line, for beautiful penmanship. The nib when first used, has a small rubberised/waxy nib protector, which you need to just pop off before use. I struggled to pull the rubber tip off, even with my nails, but my hubby just popped his straight off, so don't know if this one was just on tight or not, but if you don't pull this off first, you can't use your pen!The red is a nice shade, like a pillarbox red, not too dark and not too bright and brash.Overall the pen is nice and stylish, with a good writing nib,but the only downside is that they are expensive at their current price, at almost £2 per pen. I would have expected for a 12 pack to be better value for money and these pens are available in 12 packs for a lot less than their listed price here.

The 12 Pack of Pental Energel BLP75 Retractable Gel Roller Pens are a set of medium-to-high quality gel style black pens for general everyday use.The pens are surprisingly weight, with the majority of the weight being at the top end which I’ve found actually makes them a little more comfortable to hold. When you first go to use the pens you need to remove the small plastic covering blob that stuck to the end of the pen’s tip. Once removed you’re goo to go.The pen offers up a consistently fluid dark black line, without breaks or bleeding. The ink also seems to dry incredibly quickly, meaning there’s unlikely to be any smudging of the ink unless you go out of your way to do so!Although quite pricey, these really are very good pens and seem to last for quite some time (I’ve been using one of the pens for general use every day in work for the past month and it’s still going strong).

I have known and used Pentel pens since my youth, while they were good there were the annoying occurrences whereby the rollerball, would detach and be lost within the housing of the pen itself, and hence rendered useless. From initial use, these pens do not suffer from this problem. This EnerGel Permanent Retractable Rollerball (0.5mm) provides a smooth and even writing experience, without leaving smudges or excessive blotches of ink. On use, it provides a good line width, in a rather nice shade of blue. The grip adds better grip, without painful exertion. I wanted to know, and understand the Archive-safe and ISO referencing. The statement states,“SO 27668-2:2009 establishes minimum quality requirements for gel ink ball pens (refillable or non‑refillable) and refills for documentary use”.These are all round decent pens. Price listed is a tad high so best to shop around.

"This new pen doesn't work," said my husband. I had to point out to him that there was a tiny protective cap at the end of the nib. Certainly not easy to spot and had me fooled when I first tried these pens. These are excellent pens from the Pentel people who have been producing writing equipment for ages. This set of 12 has a fine .5 mm tip and writes smoothly and effortlessly. They feel very comfortable in the hand - a good weight. The ink (gel) dries immediately and there is no smudging at all - so great for left-handed folk.Because they are permanent and are claimed not to fade they are great for legal documents, signing cheques, etc.Not something we do every day but useful to know nonetheless. Not particularly cheap but they are made from a high proportion of recycled materials and the ink cartridges can be replaced - a choice of blue, black or red.A good buy.

EnerGel Permanent Retractable Rollerball made by Pentel is an excellent pen which writes neatly without any hesitation or any ink leakages. I like how they are supplied with a small plastic ball on the nib which prevents the ink in the pen from drying out prematurely which is especially important when you are purchasing a box of pens rather than a single pen.The actual pen is comfortable to hold and with the textured barrel makes it very comfortable to hold and also prevents the pen slipping out of my hand.I love writing with the pen and I know I will be purchasing more, I received the red pens which personally for me, not a colour I would pick for myself but I know I will be purchasing more of them in colours which will suit my own personal needs. The pen writes neatly and with a nice slim line makes it a pleasure to use.Happy to recommend.

The EnerGel Permanent is for that purpose, if you have signed some important documents and you wish to preserve the legibility of the ink then you need this.I tend to use Biro's and the EnerGel is a competent pen. It is smooth and the pen itself is solid. It has a decent feel to it and I like the fact it is retractable, rather than a cap. The only worry is with permanent ink pens is keeping them in your suit pocket and if they leak it is a nightmare to remove the stain from clothing. However, putting aside the stain problem, overall the pen is good. For the price it is a good price. These should last awhile. So, far the pen writes well and the ink seems to last well.Good pens, which flow well and the black ink is nice solid colour to it.

I am quite fussy about pens, biros etc and I do make a point of writing stuff, as most of the time we are just tapping on a keyboard and our fingers are just not used properlyTo have a nice pen is a lovely thing, and this product fits firmly in my preference. I particularly like the section of the pen where fingers are placed: it is pleasing flexible and so easy to grip easily, which makes writing comfortable and secure without fingers slipping. Some might say that “a pen is a pen is a pen”, but not so, and it is clear that even for what seems a simple product that there has been care in the development and production of this pleasing product.Recommended as a secure buy for us writers

These look great and are comfy to hold. Being used to Bic biros or Inkjoy pens, which are quite smooth and 'soft' to use, I initially did not like the writing feel of these pens, as they feel slightly hard and 'scratchy' on the paper. However once i got used to them i really like them, as they are actually more accurate to write with, and you can write in smaller writing. They are perfect for forms where neatness is important and the space available to write in can be limited. I also like that these are retractable - much easier and more practical than pens with lids. The ink is permanent and does not smudge. I was given these to review but will be buying more when they run out.

These are really nice pens, roller ball gel ink in black. If you like fin nibs like me then these are ideal, these are 0.5m tip. Lovely stylish pens in black and gold and look really expensive one. Read the instructions on the box before using unlike me, I thought none of these work, when I read the box I found out there is a cover on the nib to stop the pens drying out when not in use. Easy to off just click pen down as if going to write and a fine plastic tip you just pull off. Good idea as many of these gel pens dry up quickly, I have only opened two which are in use. I love them nice writers too and very good quality.

Pentel have made quality writing instruments for many years now and from them comes this pack of 12 retractable gel roller pen.Comprising a black plastic body with rubber-feel grip at the bottom end the pen is lightweight and sits comfortably in the hand. The tip houses a 0.5mm metal roller ball dispensing, in the case of my sample, a smooth, continuous flow of red ink. Other colours are available.A pocket clip is fitted to the barrel and a small see-through window just above the grip lets you see when the ink is getting low.Nice product, reasonable price.
