We bought these pens for our son to use for schoolwork. Like many boys he tends to be a bit untidy and so the pens are useful for him to correct his work and avoid having a page of crossing outs.The minor criticisms I would have, from the viewpoint of a parent are:(1) The barrel could benefit with being thicker for a child(2) The ink flow is not always that smoothNotwithstanding the above these are clearly some of the best pens in the market for schoolchildren…..….however two weeks before his exams disaster struck. One weekend he opened his history exercise book to find all his essays had vanished.Where there had once been model essays the page was now blank except for the teacher’s red ink corrections.There was much hair pulling and panic that weekend – before we deduced what happened. A few days earlier, in a cookery class at school he had prepared a meal. Being in a rush he had put the hot meal (straight out of the oven) in a plastic box and stuffed it in his school bag next to his history book.It turns out the Frixon pen ink is not heat-fast. Indeed the reason it can be erased is that the rubber at the back end of the pen generates heat when you try to ‘erase’ the ink on the page. Subsequently we have read of the ink also vanishing on pages or books left behind a car windscreen on a hot day. (I would also be wary of putting pages written in this ink near a hot central heating radiator).So how to recover the pages? Our solution was to put the exercise book into a ziplock bag and then place it in the freezer for 20 to 40 minutes. Almost by magic the ink will reappear – however it is not quite as vibrant as originally but the pages were readable.Our conclusion – excellent pens for schoolwork but anything that will be required for revision for an exam ought to be photocopied (to give you a backup copy) or use a different pen.Incidentally for the same reason (ie the risk that an examiner leaves the exam scripts in a warm place) I think it is reasonable to advise extreme caution in using these pens for actual exams.Despite the above ‘disaster movie’ situation I am awarding these pens five stars as they clearly are the best in the market – and far better than having a page full of crossings out or tippex. BUT you need to be aware of the heat sensitivity issue.We found our son was literally going through a pen every few days. As a consequence I would also advise buying the refills in bulk as they are widely available and with careful purchasing can lead to significant cost savings versus constantly buying the pens. Indeed the refills are a standard size and so you might find better / more comfortable pen bodies to use with the refills. We have found some (though not all) ‘plastic’ erasers will erase the ink (as long as they generate enough heat as discussed above).I hope this review is helpful.

Many years ago my mother bought me a Papermate ball point pen. It was (and still is) beautiful, slim and silver in colour. At the time it was one of a new type - the ink inside was erasable. I always thought that what happened next was a shame.When it came out it was not happily greeted by all - most of the exam boards banned any pen that could be erased and therefore "hide any errors that the student might make" and that this was "cheating".Of course banning the pen was a stupid knee-jerk reaction because students could still cross out or scribble over any mistake they made ... and then there was liquid paper (Tippex) too; and since when was deleting/altering an error/mistake on an exam paper cheating!Anyway,a couple of days ago I was on my way to the hospital when I realised that I had forgotten to put my pens in my bag. Cursing my own stupidity (I don't usually take them out but I was cleaning the bag after some medicines escaped their packaging and so I had emptied the entire case) I stopped off at a supermarket and went to the stationery section where I grabbed a couple of packets of these Pilot pens (black, blue and red in colour) - they were half price and I thought that they were just rollerball gel pens.It was only when I was settled in hospital that I realised that they weren't just ordinary gel pens and I was delighted.They have been a great help to me as I have written my notes for handouts, etc. The colours are strong but the gel is dispensed at a steady rate which does not flood the lettering. These pens will be excellent for marking too. The red colour that I have is not that bright scarlet colour but a more subtle colour and yet it still stands.I would recommend these pens to my students as well as my colleagues ... and no, they can't borrow mine!

These pens are amazing, it's so easy to erase the ink from more or less any type of paper, just using gentle friction which doesn't leave any mess or damage to the paper. The only paper that doesn't react well is really lightweight newsprint or magazine paper.I find the pens invaluable for four main reasons:1. It's brilliant to be able to start a chart of information, knowing that you can return to it time after time to update the data. For example, noting down monthly income on a chart at the start of the year, knowing that the sums involved can vary. It's so easy to correct the chart & it'll look perfect.2. You can erase mistakes, or in my case the mess created when I fall asleep whilst writing notes etc.So I end up with neat and tidy notes, unlike the ones I used to have to use correction tape on!3. If you, or a child, accidentally mark bedding or clothing with ink from these pens, remember that friction erases the ink, so use the end of the pen & it will eventually disappear.4. Goodness, I had to return to edit the review as I forgot one of the main reasons I love this pen! As a Su Doku addict, the pens are perfect. When working on a complex puzzle you can note the possible numbers to go in one cell & as you narrow it down to get the right answer, you just rub out the options you'd noted, then write the answer.The same use applies for other puzzles, like Codewords.My only criticism is that the refills don't seem to last long.Try these pens, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I needed a pen to replace the one I got with my everlasting notebook.I couldn’t see anyone else commenting about how compatible these pens were and whereas some people had suggested on the notebook reviews that any water-based pen would work, I can safely confirm that is not the case.So, the quest was on to find something that I can use that won’t damage it permanently mark my book and can be easily removed when needed.I bought these pens a bit warily but tested them on the back page before confidently using them.I must admit I’m more impressed with these than the pen that came with the notebook as these wipe off so much easier whether using the rubber or a cloth.Whereas the supplied pens left marks on the pages,these do not. They don’t score or leave indents which is great. They wipe off well first time without needing elbow grease and scrubbing like the original one.Will buy more of these now I’ve tested them.Great item.Pic 1 - written note dries quickly without smudgingPic 2 - rubbed the eraser across the page - easily removed a section of the pen without smudging or looking a messPic 3 - wiped a damp cloth down the middle to see how easy this came offPic 4 - one wipe over the whole page with a damp cloth and the writing is gone without a trace.Awesome!!!

I received one as a small thank-you gift, which I know was bought from Amazon.Coming from Pilot, these have a reputation to live up to. Several of the best disposable or refillable ball and gel pens I have used and continue to use have come from this brand as did the excellent but unfortunately no longer available nylon-tipped disposable fountain pen which was first introduced many years ago. The eraseable feature of these is covered by the small soft white plastic 'bubble' at the end of the pen. This may wear out with frequent use but the semi-transparent white plastic erasers should work just as well.The point is very small which produces a fairly fine line and there does not appear to be a broader version.The pens are available in several ink colours, including but not limited to the very popular blue as well as green and red. They are also available with several less common ink colours. The ink appears to be gel which requires that the cap be tightly replaced when not in use.Refills are available, in the more standard colours at least, but they appear to cost about 2/3 the cost of a replacement pen which makes them relatively expensive.

What’s not to like about these pens. The are really comfortable to hold, both for my husband who holds pens normally and me who holds pens ‘weirdly!’ The tip is just right to give enough ink to be strong but without being blotchy and where you have to wait ages for the ink to dry.The real beauty is that the ink is erasable, so if you make a mistake it’s not the end of the world. I think maybe these days we are all so used to typing that handwriting doesn’t come as naturally as before and it’s easy to make a mistake, that and, in my case, my mind is always thinking of the next thing to be done! I have spent ages choosing birthday cards only to make a mistake when I am writing and with these pens,there no drama you just use the integrated eraser tip and it’s gone, no mess or dust left from the eraser. I think they would be great for schoolwork for this reason.The pens are also great for sewing projects as when you iron over the ink it disappears. They are good value for money too as I have paid more for pens without the benefits that these ones offer. I am more than happy with my purchase and I will definitely buy these again.

As stated in other reviews yes these pens are not exactly very black more dark greyish, having said that I love them and will buy them in future, they write really well and the rubbing out is fantastic as long as you write over what has been rubbed out it is un-noticeable, my two children aged 5 years and 9 years use these pens now for their homework and both enjoy using them, my 9 year old struggles with a lot of pens working for her (ball point pens are useless for her) as she is left handed but these pens are perfect for her to use!As a preschool teacher I now use these on all of my paperwork and updating my development books and general day to day observations ect, these pens mean my papers look much better,if I make a mistake no more tipex horrid marks. Other pens like these that I have tried didn't work when trying to rub out so I'm very glad these do,Yes they are quite pricey not sure how long they last but I've been using the same pen constantly all day every weekday for the past few weeks and still writing well with no sign of the ink running out. my colleagues all like the pens and want some now, I won't share lol

I bought one of these for my husband who's a teacher, as he was getting frustrated when making mistakes while marking books. Both my husband and I do actually prefer biros to gel-ink (which this is) as the writing feels more controlled, however I had tried some erasable biro-style pens before which really hadn't worked well (the ink flowed badly and when it was erased you could still see the indent of the writing). This on the other hand really does erase perfectly with the eraser on the reverse of the pen. It has saved him a lot of time and scribbling out! The major downside is that the ink doesn't last as long as equivalent pens, but that being said I personally think it's still worth it.After trying it my husband immediately asked me to order another so that he could keep one at work and one at home. We'll definitely re-order, and the next step for me is to try the refills as a cheaper way to make them last longer.One more thing I was unsure about before buying this, in case anybody else wonders the same thing - the ink does stay put unless you deliberately erase it; it doesn't smudge or rub off accidentally.

This is the only type of erasable pen I have used so far and I must say it's great! Erases really well, you can write on top of where you just erased, no problem at all. The blue colour is very nice. I prefer 0.7 to 0.5 because it stands out on paper well. 0.5 is a bit bleak for the paper I write on but is still better than an ordinary biro!The pens are quite expensive if bought on their own but are reasonably priced if bought in a pack (3pounds separately vs 1.53 per pen when bought in a pack of 12). The seller dispatched my order very fast and the pens arrived the next day.Ink lasts quite well but not as well as a biro. I am doing an engineering degree so I take a lot of notes in each lecture,solve a lot of problems on paper and take many more home. With this crazy amount of writing a pen lasts me exactly one week (strange, huh).Biro's used to last a lot more but were so untidy!For me, this is a must have. I love these pens so much I make sure there is always a spare couple in the house.If you like stationary, give it a go!

I absolutely 'adore' these pens and so does everyone else who have seen me use them. I practically use them every day at work because when I'm filling in documents for clients and they suddenly realise 'oh no that's wrong actually its....' I can easily just erase it out, without having to waste paper and a lot of handwriting!The negative points: The ink doesn't last long. I find that the 0.7 ballpoint it a bit too thick for my liking (although that's just my personal opinion) but I've just noticed they've created a smaller size so I'm going to give that a go instead. Its also not suitable for glossy paper because it tends to easily come off. And the ink on magazines tends to spoil the eraser tip i.e.you'll notice afterwards that the eraser will mark on normal paper (but I guess that happens on any normal eraser?!)Overall I would suggest anyone to give them a go - especially for pupils taking their exams. If they could make the ink last a little bit longer they would be A+++ fabulous :o)

I have tried to upload a video to show this working but for some reason it won’t load. These pens are really smooth to write with and feel lovely to hold...BUT I have been searching and trying different erasable pens for marking fabric in that hope that it actually does work.I am very pleased to say that they work wonderfully on fabric in that you can either rub the fabric with the correct end of the pen but even easier and more effective is to simply hover the iron over the pen marks on the fabric and it immediately disappears.The pen erases on paper very well too and definitely recommend.To say I am pleased is really an understatement.I have purchased a second packet as discovered these are available in several colours and also refills are available too. Note though, I discovered that different colours are different prices for some reason but nevertheless, they are good value. Highly recommended.

I was looking for an erasable green pen based on my previous experience in using red and blue erasable pens in US. I didn't expect at this stage they already discovered how to make gel erasable pens, but here we are - they did! This is the most advanced to date erasable pen I know, using ink gel that can be removed by friction either by using the pen intself (the part opposite to the tip) or any other rounded object that won't damage the paper you're writing on. Quite clever and so easy to use! The previous erasable pens I used have had normal erasers that, after a while, needed to be replaced. On this one, nothing is consumed when you erase! Only the ink. Very convenient...The part which is not so good - the colour is not so bright as it is with normal gel pens, but I believe the product worth the money even with this disadvantage. Well done, Pilot - inovative and easy to use product!

I've honestly been wanting one of these pens for absolute ages, ever since they came out. Kids at school and a few friends had it and I loved it! Unfortunately, they were very expensive and my mum would not buy them. I didn't buy them because if I had, I would not really have that much money left. I've often looked on Amazon to check if there are any specials, although there haven't been. So when I came and saw this deal, I was over the moon! The postage was excellent and arrived within 2 days. When you write with this pen, it's so soft and smooth. When you rub out, it goes away. When I bought this item I knew that if it was put against a lot of heat, the writing would disappear.I would not use it for professional use, although it's perfect for school. It arrived today and I can't wait to use it more often!! A great product, great price, great thing!! I DEFINITELY recommened it! :)

I order a box of 12 Frixion pens approximately every 6 months, and couldn't get by without them. They are brilliant for note taking as I can go back and correct any mistakes without leaving any messy marks. They are also invaluable in my GCSE exams, because if the examiner can't read my scrawl, then he or she won't mark my paper. With my Frixion pens though, I can just go back and neaten up if my handwriting gets too bad. When you pick up the pen it feels well made; the lid clicks on so perfectly and it seems very solid. I have never had one break or snap in about 9 months of using them, and they don't half take a beating at school! For just over £1.60 a pen its definitely worth it.My ONLY criticism,is that the ink doesn't last quite as longer as a standard ballpoint, like a Bic for example, but the smoothness and inkiness of the pen combined with the erasability compensates it!

I use these during classes, and mainly during exams that are mandatory to be written in ink, so I can erase any mistake.Sometimes, the eraser bit can smudge a little, and to erase big portions of text I just hit the paper with a lighter flame and it instantly disappears. I also found out it reappears if the paper is placed in the freezer (nice way of playing secret message with kids...).The only drawback is that for you to use the erase, you have to either keep putting and removing the cap on the top of the pen or just leave it off, wich I dont like to do because desks at university are small, and thats one more thing on the way, and how fast the ink ends: on a busy period,I am switching cartridges every week!Fortunately, there are refills available, and a clicker version that solves the cap placement issue.
