As any avid Dynasty Warriors fan knows, there is not a huge amount of change from game-to-game, however for some reason they are still packed with hours of light hearted fun, whether it be felling foes by the thousands or doing a runner from Lu Bu. In this installment of Dynasty warriors however, there were a couple of big changes. First of which is the change to campaign mode, at first I was very skeptical of it, however it turned out to be very fun. What's changes is that isntead of going thorugh 5-6 chapters of repetitive battles with each character, the story mode now goes by faction, of which a new one was added named "Jin". So, you can complete the Shu, Wu, Wei & Jin campaigns, each of which takes hours to complete. The main thing that may put some players off with the campaign mode however, is that you cannot choose your character, however I found it to be rather effectve, as it lets you play the characters that are important in each particular level, E.g. Haung Gai at the battle of Chi bi, allowing the characters to all seem more... Essential to the army, rather than your character dwarfing everyone else. Secondly, the "Insta battle" mode has been removed, which I miss to be truthful but it's understandable as Koei added a "Conquest" mode into the game. Within this game mode the country is split into tiles, each tile represents a battle or a city etc, and by completing these battles you can gain territory, form alliances, gain gold & respect and even unlock new characters to play as - Not to mention, this is available on online co-op via xbox live and such.Don't mean to drag on so much, so I'll just point a few things out quick>Weapons are different. Each character has a different affinity with certain weapon types & can equip most to a varying degree, practical however I miss 'personalized' weapons.>mounts - No longer can be obtained / trained etc, you just call for them and they appear. In conquest mode it's possible to purchase different mounts though.>Mosou - You can now have multiple mosuo attacks stockpiled, however using the attack will always deplete one bar, you can not release early to save some charge.Overall I would say I enjoyed the game thoroughly, a big step up from #6 which was a bit of a dissapointment, however it could still see some improvements such as implementing a bodyguard system & instant action.

I have been a big Dynasty Warriors fan since the 3rd one and I can safely say that this game is so much better than Dynasty Warriors 6. They have gone back to the old ways with the combo system which is vastly superior to 6's mashing the same button continually and winning. The story is much improved and more focused, which is both a good and a bad thing. Dynasty Warriors has never re-captured the immenseness of Dynasty Warriors 3 for me, the battlefields feel smaller and the enemies weaker. Before in Dynasty Warriors 3 the battles were drawn out and epic, with there usually being several ways you could attack. In 7 you are pretty much pointed to a target at the start of the battle and each target you do you are pointed somewhere else until it is finished so you almost follow a direct path. Also, the normal troops have basically just become pointless. In earlier instalments they used to pose some kind of a threat in mass even on normal difficulty. But now, unless you crank it up to high difficulties the only normal soldiers that cause any damage are masses of archers. Also, killing 1000 enemies on a map used to be an achievement in itself, but now almost every other map I am doing that. It does not feel as special anymore. The conquest mode is a nice addition, I have mainly done the Story mode, completing 1 story and half-way through another, but the Conquest mode adds a lot of longevity to the game as it is not just the same levels from the campaign you are repeating to make characters stronger like before. The one thing I will say, characters on maps are random and it can sometimes feel a bit silly when your character has been teamed up with someone from a different faction fighting one of your characters best friends or something. It would have been nice if they made it more faction specific like Wu characters group with other Wu characters. That said, it is still very fun and addictive if you are a Dynasty Warriors fan. If you have disliked the previous instalments this will not change your opinion as it is pretty much the same with just a few minor changes. But for those a fan of the series prior to Dynasty Warriors 6 will be glad to see a return to form as well as an extended storyline in the Jin Empire.

I don't really know why anyone moans at Dynasty Warriors for being 'samey'. It's a game based off of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, if you want the game to change, go 600 years back in time and write the book yourself, or better yet go back 1850 years and tell us what actually happened? The game itself goes slightly back to the roots of Dynasty Warriors 5, featuring more familiar faces than DW6, but that's about as far as it goes, the story has been completely revamped, going through the history of the kingdoms and choosing your character for you. This sounds like a bad thing but it only really alters the base stats, certain moves and musou attacks,if you really hate a character it gives you the option to change weapon at any time. The skill system is great but it throws you in to the deep end. Having played DW 2-7 I decided to skip the tutorial, so that may be why, however I didn't like how the skills worked in legendary battles, as some characters had none (Liu Bei, who I'd unlocked a few with in the story but for Sima Yi I started off with some), but in the generic conquest fights they seemed to work fine. The fact that there is no Xtreme Legends for Xbox doesn't really make a difference to me, as the conquest mode has 'Legendary Battles' which pretty much serve the same purpose and show a fraction of the character's development or an ironic look on the true events. This is also the case for the lack of Free Mode, as although the generic levels don't quite compare to the freedom you've had in previous instalments, but they pretty much serve the same purpose, with a range of difficulties and you can choose any character, it's a pretty decent substitute.Encyclopedia - Always interesting, a nice little educational addition to the game.Gallery - Just have fun with costumes, check out Xu Zhu's 2nd costume, it's worth a laugh!

i bought this yesterday and to be honest after playing dynasty 6 was not expecting too much from it. i was pleasently surprised.what the developers have done is take a step backward so to speak with some of the characters by reverting them to their original weapons that were in dynasty 5 (in my opinion the best in the series by far). Gone are the likes of Lu Bu's ''improved'' windmill thing that was in the last installment back is his spear that decimates hordes of troops in one move yay!!!many of the features have been kept the same very easy to play and very addictive and the new kingdom of Jin could be interesting but i've not done too much of that yet.there are two main modes to the game story (which is sadly one player only) and the conquest mode which looks huge. each caracter can carry two weapons and swich mid battle freely which adds even more depth and even a little stratergy quick weaponsa such as swords for the masses of peons and then maybee an axe or mace for the tougher boss (it is quite funny having Guan Yu wander round with a war fan although he is not at all any good with it)the conquest mode is very similar to the empires expansion packs that have been released for the previous incarnations of the game and adds more depth and freedom to the gameplay. this mode i have found is the only two player mode on the game. the addition of a few new characters is always a good touch but have yet to try them all out to see how effective they all.if you are a fan of the series i would recomend this as it has features from strikeforce (you wander around villages and can buy new weapons or upgrade existing ones from blacksmiths between levels) and empires.in short a very worthy addition to the series and i only wish that dynasty 6 had been this good.

Now I know that many of the Dynasty Warriors games have had bad press. Well to be honest there is nothing more in then than just a simple button mashing hack-and-slash. The same goes for number 7. But I tell you now this series of games has gained a massive cult following. I am a follower. I adore this game implicitly, for all intents and purposes it is roughly your average Dynasty Warriors game (lets not kid they all are technically the same) but there is always a signature that makes the games different. In 7 there is a marked improval in many areas, the character choice, you cannot just play the same all the way through with a seriously over powered character, the characters are pre-chosen for you (i actually like this). Also in the pre battle areas, instead of the preparation screen you are actually in the starting stronghold preparing physically for the battle. i do love this game so much and I have been playing this religiously (hence the cult) since it arrived (3 DAYS EARLY!!)

When I bought this game I was a bit skeptical as I had never played any of the Dynasty warriors series or spin-offs. I was heartily impressed. The combat while at first seemed a bit mundane, the arsenal of weapons at your disposal which you quickly add to while playing through the story, and the large choice of rotating officers to play, make each battle unique. The story line is very good, and while you wouldn't think it at first, you become attached to the game-world's shapers and movers of the kingdoms, and learning all about the plots and provinces is also very interesting.Delivery time was also good, arriving just under the estimated delivery time. All I can say is that from an outsiders point of view to the game series, while it at first doesn't appear to have a great deal to offer; play through one of the campaigns for an hour or two and you'll quickly become engrossed.

I absolutely loved the Dynasty warriors games since I discovered Dynasty warriors 3 on Ps2 many years ago. I bought this a little while ago and to be honest I didnt expect the characters to all be the same but thats my fault, I was happily surprised with this game not only contain a story mode but a conquest mode that is absolutely brilliant. The only two things that could have made this game better would be to make the little story scenes longer, I absolutely love them! And also just changing the battles up a little, Because they can be incredibly dull and completely similar to others. But overall I loved this game and just ordered DW8

24.5.2012

This game is an outstanding improvement from dw6 especially the conquest mode very fun and lots do. The achievements are also not to time consuming so its quite easy and fast to 100% and get all achievements. Now I am going to get DW7 xtremelegends.very good gamei would suggest elite gamers to get it as it is a simple hack and slash game with repetiveness as a crucial part of it.If you are a DW fan then this is a game to be bought however if your a casual gamer then give a shot, but you may not understand the vital parts of the game that makes it more fun than it is.i rate it 8 of 10

1.2.2014

I must admit, I was a bit sceptical to buy this. The reviews were 3/4 stars so I had to think about getting this. I've been playing this game for about three hours now and its really fun. I honestly haven't had this much fun with Dynasty Warriors since Dynasty Warriors 3 on the PS2 and that game is hard to live up to. The new additions to the game, such as a secondary weapon is awesome. I thought I wouldn't like it, but its great. I think this game will keep me entertained for weeks to come!

I have followed the Dynasty Warriors games all along from upon the early playstation. I love this game, and am still playing it and still will for a very long time. Lots to discover, great fighting techniques, tons of weapons to find and use and the video scenes are awesome, a great update to the Dynasty Warriors franchise. Am very happy with this purchase. :).

4.9.2018

i dont think this series of games is 5 star the graphics seem to slightly improve and the game engine gets tweeked but if you play one ypu have played them all still its a great game to play if your bored and do not know what to play and you want to hack and slash your way through levels.

3.5.2011

Having bought the previous 6 titles of this franchise, Dynasty warriors 7 is definitely the best one to date. A bit on the expensive side I guess as it is not as popular as the top rated titles, however you will get hours of game time.

22.7.2013

Although no real changes from the dynasty games structure it's still a highly pleasurable game to play, intriguing storylines and you rack up some very high kill numbers. Loads of fun!

My son had been looking for this game for a while, it was considerably more expensive on the high street and other internet sites. Super fast deliver. Would use again.
